  • Those are awesome.

I'm already doing 3x20 leg lifts... might try and incorporate this into my at home work outs...

IS it easier with a wall behind you?

  • WOW i bet these give you ripped abs!! i need to get core strength like that

  • He Oviously has a 6 pac

  • Hey, Is this gonna help to reach front levers?

  • As a supplemental exercise, yes.

    Yours in Fitness,

    Coach Sommer

  • sometimes i think: man there are some strong people... and i never say stuff like that about bodybuilders

  • I recon I could do this- if my ceiling was high enough!

    Gotta get me some rings!

  • Holy crap !

  • I can only do half of that..

  • cudose man thats amazing

  • We do these at my gym! they are so hard

  • and this is why gymnasts bother me, haha thats some great strength

  • I've said it before, but I have to say it again: Coach Sommer, you RULE!

Thanks for all the great vids

  • wow something that is harder than dragon flags?

  • It's different. I don't know that it's harder per se, but they sure aren't easy!

"Dragon flags" or body levers as Coach refers to them are straight body exercises, and help build the strength to remain straight in a horizontal unsupported position.

Russian Leg Lifts are really more for developing the ability to move your body into various positions, which requires a bit of a different kind of strength.

They are both tough, for different reasons.

  • i agree, saggital vs frontal planes of movement...2 different exercises

  • Hi Coach,

How long must I practise to be able to do that kind of stuff that you are showing us on Youtube? The kids are very strong, that's impressive. I'm 16 and I can't do this. How can I start?

    Thanks!

  • My website is full of materials to help you begin gymnastics strength training properly.

  • Thank you very much !

  • @ChrisBrowndancer3018

about 3 months if you're exercising 3 times a week.

  • Respect

  • i can do a full hanging leg lift with relative ease (for a few reps at slow speed), would you suggest adding weights or trying to progress to this variation?

also it looks like this would really prepare the core for front levers, im only at the advanced tuck stage but I think my shoulder strength is stopping me more than my core

  • um....wow.......something i could never do.....

  • impressive...

  • this looks very good i try to include it into mine!

  • i just said "holy moly" out loud.

  • @clearliquid

    i said "oh geeze"
