I wouldn't worry about Nibiru... the evidence just isn't there for it. Apophis is real, but with a very small chance to hit and years to work on a defense if it does (which actually has been acted upon).

ok Apophis is not even close to the size of the asteroid that hit 65 million years ago that one was 6 miles across apophis is only 270 meters that's only a little bigger then the Eiffel tower it could level a city but not wipe out the planet and kill us all no thats false and the odds are in our favor so yeah it won't hit us.

One more thing... when it comes to space, its hard for "them" to keep things secret. There are plenty of amateur astronomers out there, who have equipment more then capable of detecting, and tracking, NEOs(in fact, thats how most are discovered).

Theres quite a lot more then the number of staff that work "a single shift at mcdonalds', watching our skies.
The vast majority of objects that are big enough to have any signifigant impact on earth are large enough, that they're quite easy to spot(though the occassional one gets missed)... A hell of a lot more then 1% of the sky is being watched.
Apophis is due to pass us in 2029. It won't hit us then, but will pass within the orbits of our geosynchronous satelites. If it goes through a

certain point, thats being called ' the keyhole', its orbit will be altered enough, that seven years later(in 2036), it will hit us. The chances that it will go through the keyhole, keep decreasing everytime astronomers get a chance to refine its orbit.
I'm assuming we'll know well before 2029, wether it'll pass through or not, giving us plenty of time to get a gravitational tug out to it, and modify its orbit before it comes back round again.

ok for all of you who dont know. this was the last 5 or 10 minutes of the movie deep impact. however the asteroid apophis is a real asteroid or what nasa scientist are calling a NEO. or near earth object. it is likely that apophis could pass through a window when it passes earth to circle our planet 5 or so times then impact earth. but the window is pretty damn small so i think it will be highly unlikely. dont hold your breath that it will happen.

anythng over 150 m in dia. is not slowed by the atmosphere. And anything above 200 m. in dia. is considered sufficient to cause an extinction event. Blowing up a half a km wide asteroid will result in a ton of smaller extinction causing impacts. Nukes are not the answer. UFO intervention might be our best hope (our only hope).
