Yeah amazing Russian tech, much simpler than American - foldable elevators, whoever thought of that? carriers much more compact cuz they have no complex catapult system. SU-33 has longer range AA missiles and an excellent dogfighting missile compared to F-18's. Of course, US Navy has more experience and planes but still, these Russian systems are readily adopted by China and India and will one day challenge US supremacy
@AccordGTR China never adopted these, they outrightly copied it. Check for J-11 and J-15. And U.S is helping India allot in many ways. They are now offering F-18 superhornets and F-35B and C for Indian Navy, and the navy has shown a lot of interest. BTW idk why but Russia has increased the price of Su-30 MKI by a whole 155%. Now the F-35 is also much cheaper.
Manufacture and maintain each of these planes cost millions and millions of dollars, is an example of human stupidity. If there are still people who want to play war with the cost of this for the rest, understandably a Play Station and more disturbed.
@orbazel They try to minimize the number of electronics in the cockpits. More practical and less chances of something going wrong when the essential systems are off the plane's grid. So if something goes wrong, at least they can be run manual instead of automatic screens. 1 interesting question is.... What would the West's pilots do if their LED screens go blank? At least these Su-33s won't have that problem.

At the end of the day the performance of an aircraft is an engineering equation into which many considerations go. One thing that that is true about how the US uses its military is that it is used for projecting power and not as much for defense of homeland. That much being said, US aircraft need good range. This affects rest of the design of the aircraft. I do believe the US, if it wanted, could produce an aircraft unmatched at dog-fighting but it would be at the cost of other things.

I'm retired US Airforce and I don't you guys get it? That is a beautiful work of art here. One day soon they all will be flown by a kid with pimples and a dark room while eating nuts. @kolombi4 F15 has never fought in dogfight against MiG29 or Su27 and compared with mig23 or su 22 its a whole generation between this planes.BVR fights dont needs high skills or experience like dogfights.You only can see who is better pilot in dogfights not in BVR.

UR correct that India imports much of its military hardware, but the percentage bought from Russia is going down. @TheTequilaShooter In Serbia all kills were BVR and all against few (Serbia had total of 12) not fully functional Mig-29 in heavy ECM environment. I wonder how would they do against equal number of Su-27 or Mig-29 series. USA had advantage in radars and missiles, but with introduction of R-73, R-77 and new generation of Russian phased array radars that advantage disappeared. In aerodynamics Russian planes ALWAYS had advantage over USA.
@monsterbnt Wrong, I know of at least two kills both at WVR in Serbia. US weapons, systems, and weapons are better than Russia's, which even Russia's friend India stated after the MMRCA trials. And who says Russia planes always have the advantage over USA? The only area Russian aircraft excell is at slower speeds, which is not common for dogfights of today where most speeds exceed Mach 1.
@TheTequilaShooter Nope all were BVR. There was no need at all to engage in dogfight with few Serbian pilots that could make their Migs to even fly.... In Korea Sabre never could match Mig-15 in aerodynamics and maneuverability, but USAF pilots were much better trained than Chinese or NK. In Vietnam Phantom never could match Mig-21 in dogfight but VC pilots could never match Americans in their training. I wonder how USAF/USN would look in combat with equal enemy.
@monsterbnt Sorry, one kill was in a dogfight at night, and the other in the day where a F-15 and Mig 29 got into a spiral turning and the Mig had to come out of the turn first to avoid htting the deck and the F-15 got a shot up its rear end. The Mig 15 was more of an interceptor. It had certain advantages over the Sabre and the Sabre had certain advantages over it. The Mig 21 had the advantage horizontally and the F-4 had the advantage vertically with its power and thrust.
@monsterbnt One kill at WVR was anight by Captain Mike Shower on March 24, 1999: ""He (the Mig-29) was about six miles away and I'm up pretty high pointing at him when I took my last shot," Capt. Shower said....The Mig-29 crashed within 25 mautical miles of Batajiinica Airfield."
The other digfight kill was by Major Robert Renner "Cricket" on 3/24/99.

They did same thing in 1941 when few of them flew against hordes of nazi planes, and they will do it again......with both Mig-29 we still have.... :)

None of those Migs was fully operational, their radars were not functional, most of them didn't even had operational RWR most of them could only use gun, and even that was limited without a radar. I'm an American Navy veteran, aviation structural mechanic. I'm not going to engage in who is better, there's enough of that on Youtube. The Su-33 is an amazing jet. Its very impressive to see what it can do. I think its Russia's best fighter......if its not the best, its their coolest aircraft.
You guys know why Russians build good things like that? Its because those people who design it, put their heart and soul into it, not just numbers and vast amounts of cash like Americans. It's pretty incredible, i know, but the russians pulled out in around '89, even with that much military power they couldn't beat the mujahideen. ...tough sons of bitches, if you ask me.

I'm retired US Airforce and I don't you guys get it? That is a beautiful work of art here. One day soon they all will be flown by a kid with pimples and a dark room while eating nuts. No real men in the fighter, no bravery, no valor, no big balls out brawlers. There once was a time I hoped to see an Eagle, a Tomcat, a Falcon leaving in the morning light a top gun situation right along side Fulcrum, that one day we could all be together. I have to admit I have saved this video. What a machine!

UR correct that India imports much of its military hardware, but the percentage bought from Russia is going down. Equipment that India used to only buy from Russia, India is now looking elsewhere, including the US, where the US has sold transport aircraft, jet engines, attack helo's, maritime patrol aircraft, bombs, etc

I wonder how would they do against equal number of Su-27 or Mig-29 series. USA had advantage in radars and missiles, but with introduction of R-73, R-77 and new generation of Russian phased array radars that advantage disappeared. In aerodynamics Russian planes ALWAYS had advantage over USA.

And who says Russia planes always have the advantage over USA? The only area Russian aircraft excell is at slower speeds, which is not common for dogfights of today where most speeds exceed Mach 1.

In Korea Sabre never could match Mig-15 in aerodynamics and maneuverability, but USAF pilots were much better trained than Chinese or NK. In Vietnam Phantom never could match Mig-21 in dogfight but VC pilots could never match Americans in their training. I wonder how USAF/USN would look in combat with equal enemy.

@monsterbnt Sorry, one kill was in a dogfight at night, and the other in the day where a F-15 and Mig 29 got into a spiral turning and the Mig had to come out of the turn first to avoid htting the deck and the F-15 got a shot up its rear end. The Mig 15 was more of an interceptor. It had certain advantages over the Sabre and the Sabre had certain advantages over it. The Mig 21 had the advantage horizontally and the F-4 had the advantage vertically with its power and thrust.

The other digfight kill was by Major Robert Renner "Cricket" on 3/24/99.

They did same thing in 1941 when few of them flew against hordes of nazi planes, and they will do it again......with both Mig-29 we still have.... :)

None of those Migs was fully operational, their radars were not functional, most of them didn't even had operational RWR most of them could only use gun, and even that was limited without a radar. I just wanna say that u can't use those fights to compare true power of russian and USA planes.
