It is so true these shows like the Friendly giant and Today's Special were the shows on TVO that shaped our generation and todays kids are missing out on this magic and they are unable to use their skills and have fun, someone bring back these shows back, please!!
OK. I've danced around the mall for a few magical musical hours. Now I have to get to the park near the gay bar for some anonymous man-on-magical-mannequin sex in the bushes.
here from d-listed. i know this song by heart. i didn't know it was canadian. i loved this show and i loved the theme song. i still love the theme show, it makes me happy with nostalgia. still, looking at it now, my gaydar is in the red. i don't know what happened. i never got any gay vibe from this show when i was little; now, it's like watching a gay broadway show. it shouldn't make a difference, yet it does. oh well. i hope Jeff is doing well wherever he is, because he brought joy.
There is a Bring Back Today's Special Page on Facebook trying to get these released on dvd. I'll send you a link for it & maybe you could post under the Today's Special Videos together we may make it happen. For others just go on Facebook & Search Bring Back Today's Special & join Thanks...

I totally miss this show. It came on nickelodeon & tvon when I was a kid. They really need to bring back programs like this. You can't find ANY childrens tv like this nowadays! It's all reality tv now - and reality shouldn't take place of imagination & fantasy
I think I remember an episode of a child in "Today's Special". I remember a physically challenged child in a wheelchair. Does anybody remember this too???
Yes there was a young lady in a wheel chair, she was Jodis friend but I cant remember the name of the episode. Sorry, but if you do a Google search for Todays Special Episode Guide you will be able to find it.
The episode was called Hello Friend but it was written in bliss symbols.
It dealt with a little boy named Levi who had cebral pulsy. He used a board with bliss symbols to help him communicate.
An apprehensive Sam is clearly uncomfortable around Levi- but Jodie straightens him out.
Later on in the ep, Jodie, Jeff and Muffy get trapped in an elevator, and Levi managesto send Sam who is in the computer room a message using his bliss symbols to let Sam know to turn on the emergency power.
And yes, he did in fact have a wheelchair. What I loved was Jodie was so accepting of Levi as was Muffy and Jeff. Sam was the one who was aprehensive-but changes his tune eventualy.
Maybe that is what we need today A little magic and some Hocus Pocus Alamagocus,Just like when we watched and shared in their adventures!! I miss these TVO shows!!
These are the Shows Kids today should be watching,We grew up watching their Adventures and today's shows just don't do that!! Please bring them back!!
The kid shows today are missing something. I can't quite figure it out, But its not like the shows we used to watch as innocent children. Maybe thats whats missing... "Innocence"
Don't know for sure. But I wish they would put all these old shows on DVD for our kids to see, even the classic sesame street is waaaaay better then the one on today. SOo much more better. God what happened to children television viewing?
Thanks for the reply but as you said, that is what is missing from today's shows, We grow up by just being Kids and sharing in the Fun.. I was also a fan club member of Today's Special at TVO Kids.
Children's shows today are very child-centric. I recently watched almost the whole series of Today's Special when I transferred my VHS collection to DVD, and I made an interesting observation -- there are almost no real children in Today's Special. The entire series focuses on teaching children how to become a part of the world around them, a world that isn't necessarily focused on children, isn't necessarily void of problems, but has plenty of caring people, too.
I agree 1000%; the programs they aired on Nick back in the 80's taught them how to use their imaginations & creativity & taught them manners & respect for their elders. Very UNLIKE programs that air now on any channel. Now its cool to disrespect your elders & make them look like fools. Either that or its all that hypersexual junk that pollutes their minds & teaches them that if you can cuss & take your cloths off youll be a big celebrity. It turns my stomach to even think about it!!!
maybe you can find it somewhere and upload it i would love to see it, i never saw the episode, where i live in the store or Hocus pocus alamagocus comes from which epsiode is that from? are they both from Jeff? or Alone?
Hocus pocus alamagocus for life! I watched this on PBS, and now that I've seen a few eps on here, I vividly remember them!

This song is about having an appreciation for life. Jeff is so happy to have been given a chance. :)

Once in a while I have this melody roaming around in the back of my head. Finding this video may cure it.

Was their an episode where Jeff sings about what it would be like to be a real person outside the store?

LOL, I remember this song from my childhood.
I think this was filmed in The Bay at Queen & Yonge, but it might have been Simpsons at this time.

It doesn't spoil or indulge children, but it doesn't insult their intelligence, either. I think that's the real magic of the show.
