Was surprised how stable my car felt

Nice to see another drive these cars !

most wankers just take it out once in a while and dont still dont drive it...

Its a car and its ment to be driven,so nice driving :)

    and nice car to

  • That idiot has to go into the speed lane and slow you down at 1:00 (in the video. How dare that piece of crap BMW get in the way of you Challenger! There should be laws against that! By the way, be careful! your one idiot away of turning the irreplacable beauty into a tin can.

  • a hollander got in the way at 1:10 seriously you hollanders should drive on the right lane, the left one is for overtaking, pls learn it

  • seriously, this is so fake

  • Hey you went to Ausfahrt. I looked for that place the whole time I was stationed in Germany. I could never find it even though the signs said it at every exit. I was in Katterbach Kasern 96-2000 near Ansbach. I love your videos please keep them coming they are wunderbar.

  • Great vid! V8 forever!

  • how fast is it??? km/h??

  • @hernandezrivas maximum 140 kmh the speedometer is in kmh :)

  • @Zarjofrapful @hernandezrivas no its in MPH, the speedo only goes to 225 km/h. but thats just the speedo, it may actually be able to go faster than that

  • GErman Autobahn is not a racetrack. but is its empty and tehre is no speed limit u can go very fast^^

And i think most germans like the original restored muscles. not the high tuned with to much new things

  • @SagittariusEquester Yes! Your right! We like the US cars, too! I`m german and I love the muscle cars! :)

  • got an oil radiator sry^^

  • @Domnaek

    Yep

  • got an oil cooler?

  • I can hear the gas going bye bye

  • cmon 140 cmon do it do it.... ughhh yeah nothing but raw muscle

  • good to see someone in Europe has good tast in cars!!!

  • Dont need a horn to tell people to get out of the fast lane no more

  • That engine is giving local catylic converters and governors the finger

  • Wunderbar! just wonderful man!

  • I'd pay to be sitting in any of those other cars when this puppy charges past.

  • So love this, brings back so many memories! nice one babe xxx

  • Old challenger video? Cool!

Driver gripping frighteningly thin steering wheel

Engine sounds like a box of tools in a washing machine

Horrendously loud sucking noise on accell

Entire car bouncing and shaking at >120mph

    Okay!

  • wow, girl driving with american muscle car

  • make a 0-60 acceleration video :)

  • @19920307alex

That would be a very short one ;-)

  • a lil bouncy

  • scaring some euros eh? good job! lol

  • pedal to the metal

  • BADASSSSS! im going to ask obama to put an autobahn from california to new york!

  • of course both videos are 440 long lol

  • The Sound! ♥♥♥

  • Thanks, I checked the specs and watched your other video too! sweet Challenger!

  • I love this Video! thanks for sharing your experience with everyone :-) I have a 72 Dodge charger 440, with 3.55 gears but no Autobahn here. Would love to know the rpm she was pulling! and the specs on your Challenger etc.

  • @mikesbbody

Check the video description for car spex and some of my replies to comments for further details

  • is that a girl driving ?

  • i think i know what will be my first car because of this video...

fuck import muscle cars are the real thing :D

  • Really 225 km/h?

  • challengers and sleep. i like your style!

  • @70moparbaby

Thx dude, another one into mopar and stonerrock ;-)

    You might wanna check out my 'Kowalskis' video (the last one in my '70 Dodge Challenger' playlist);

photos of 16 stoner bands next to my Challenger, with Electric Wizard, Fu Manchu and Hermano, a.o.

  • Done anything to the suspension? From my experience ( 69 mustang ) it gets very unsteady at higher speeds.

  • @69r0xx

There is a link in the description of this video where you can read some spex about my car.

As you can see I've done a lot on this car, including suspension.

  • I could watch this the rest of the night.

  • Who says girls can't drive...

  • Taquepariu....

Um dia ainda terei um desses....

    Challenger RULES.

  • has it the original mufflers????

    greeze from germany

  • @usundacars

In this video it had some unknown mufflers.

Currently it has Dynomax UltraFlo mufflers

  • Ok. First, That is not a factory Speedometer for a 1970 Dodge Challenger (150 MPH) even in Germany. Second it could be that the gearing in the speedometer is not calibrated right. Third, even though it says MPH on the speedometer it would be KPH. (110 KPH is about 67 MPH) and that is what it looks like. I have been 140 in my Challenger and that is no where close to the things going by...

  • @SMITHnWESSON44m Are you joking? That's a 440 cubic inch v8, he is definately topping out at 130+ mph

  • @SMITHnWESSON44m its a non-stock speedometer

  • @SMITHnWESSON44m You can see the last digit on the odometer (that digit at this stage either represents kilometers or miles) ticking over.

By observing the time between the odometer's update's, and the speed the needle on the speedometer indicates the car is going, it should be possible to calculate the true speed of the Challenger.

I'm thinking a graph would be the way to go at this point.

I'll leave that up to you, I'm a bit intoxicated at the moment.

Beware. This is a tricky problem.

  • @3nasacova I did the math, he topped at around 90 mph.

  • @SMITHnWESSON44m " I have been 140 in my Challenger and that is no where close to the things going by..".were you traveling at an estimated velocity of 140 mph while any other vehicles around you were traveling much slower? The vehicles that 66PaleRider was passing were traveling at a velocity closer to the estimated nearly 140 MPH that 66PaleRider was traveling at. Everybody on the Autobahn(except the campers) is traveling at 100+ MPH. Perception of "speed" is diminished, the perception of

  • why does the speedometer only go to 140 ? dont they go to 150?

  • @charger1970and68

    It's an aftermarket speedo

I replaced all the stock gauges in my rallye cluster, with gauges from TPI

  • @66PaleRider oh i see.

  • awsome car

  • haha you were in Kleve/Emmerich, very nice

    i live there (:

  • with factory 4 speed manual tranny and 3.23 gears the 440 six pack is pretty much redlined at 140 Mph. it depends on tire diameter too thou

    great vid thanks

  • Noticed that the little car in the hammer lane got out of your way ASAP. Good on ya!

You can't go anywhere in Canada because those sumbitches plug the passing lane for no reason whatsoever and never care to look behind them. They would'nt survive 5 miles in the USA or the Autobahn.

  • @ExMxer3

    That's because it's the law.

Staying in the "hammer lane" even though there is enough room to move over costs 80Euro and 1 point on your license.

  • @ExMxer3 Here in Atlanta, GA if you're going slow in the passing lane(s) (some highways are 6 in each direction) you're going to get passed with a vengeance. Gridlock frequently moves at 40mph+, speeds sometimes get as high as 90, even around cops.

  • What an old car with such a power!

  • haha i love how the length of the video is actually 440

  • Ill bet the Europeans were all saying " Whats this Crazy American driving thats making all that noise"

  • @starguard hahah yea thats just normal, I have a chevy so I know

  • look at the hair! its james may!

  • @AdangerousRETARD

Nah, Its Natalie Imbruglia trying to make up for the wreck she had years ago. Nice tast in cars though.

  • I bet people call you Kowalski

  • I'd love to play Cat n' Mouse with you on the freeway....I have a 69 Charger R/T 440 with Dual Quads, 6 speed gear split trans....I am down in Greece....

Beautiful sound by the way...Havent quite made the move from HP Man's to my Shorty Hedmans yet...

  • @Pyper70 Yes, Please!! video with palerider is in order!!!

  • You can't find anyone to balance a set of tires to even go that fast in the US. Besides everyone here rather be on the dam phone.

  • wow nice nice dodge in germany wowowoowo nice wooman...

  • I hope the car has modern tires.

Also, 6mpg x $6/gal. makes for a very expensive way to travel.

  • Mucho ruido, contamina el ambiente!

Esos carros no son para esas carreteras tan sofisticadas!

  • put a 12.1 L V8 in it.... hehehe

  • That's how God makes angels folks!

  • Thanks for the ride! What a beautiful sound that card makes. Man that was great! If he hadn't been such a fruitloop, I'd thank Hitler for the autobahn. Tell me, when you were doing a buck thirty an d that little shitbox doing 50 wouldn't get out of your way, did you feel your balls acending into your stomach? CRASH!

  • Do you have the supercharger on it, i am guessing not or else i Would see those 70's superchargers with a huge valve structure coming out of the hood.

  • @slobhinav

No supercharger, maybe someday a pro charger that fits under the hood. But no plans in the near future.

  • Hey man is this car stock like the engine the trans?

  • @kowalskideahl

Mildly modified engine, stock trans with hydraulic clutch

  • @66PaleRider Well tell me what you done to it if you don't mind, I want mine to be fast too dammit. If it isn't allready I don't even know what these engines run like in the first place that's why i'm asking you.

  • @kowalskideahl

Check the Cuda-Challenger forum, there's tons of info about this subject there.

  • @66PaleRider Well I don't know where that is so why can't you just tell me what you did to your car, it's not that special I don't care what it takes mine will be as fast or probably faster than yours so you should just tell me, I already have a complete excellent running 1970 440 six pack engine and 4 speed i'm going to put in my 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T SE but I was just wondering about your engine.

  • @kowalskideahl

It's not that I don't wanna tell you, but I just don't know...

My engine is (re)built back in 2001 by someone with whom I don't have contact anymore. On my request he souped up the engine a bit but without losing the streetability. But for me the engine is a 'black box'. That's why I referred to that forum. YT doesn't allow me to put an url here, but google for these terms I gave you. That forum helped me with the way I built my suspension. You should certainly check it out.

  • @kowalskideahl Oh well tell me what kind of engine it is?

  • @kowalskideahl

ah, but that info you could have found in the comments as well in the labels of this video: 440 SixPack with a 4 speed ;-)

  • @66PaleRider Well how come I can't hear the carbs, i'm curious as to what a six pack sounds like, is it a real six pack with the 3 carbs or is it like my engine in my challenger a six pack engine with one huge holley 4 barrel double pumper? And does a 440 six pack motor run like yours stock or is there a big difference in a stock one and your engine because that damn thing is very strong.

  • @66PaleRider

hey man nice sound u got there,

i know this is a fucking obvious question but six pack meants its a 6 cylinder right? cause if it is thats one hell of a sound for a 6!

  • @Tait011

    440 = 440 cubic inch (7.2 liter) V8 engine

    SixPack = 6 carbs (3 double carbs)

  • @Tait011 sorry i don't mean to get on your case but this is an american classic. You don't see these anymore with pathetic slant 6 engines. They've all been replaced with big block V8's. The way american cars should be!

  • @66PaleRider Nice Car!!! I have a 69 Charger 440 4-Speed... Can you tell me what size of gear you have and 8 3/4 or Dana?? Thanks!

  • @RocknRollCharger

    8 3/4 with 3.23

  • You sir have done every muscle fan proud.

  • Looks dangerous but sounds absolutely gorgeous and goes like stink.

  • That one guy was only doing 80 :O

Either way, i'm surprised it handled high speeds like that. These cars were designed with speed in mind, but not so much top speed, as acceleration.

  • Looks pretty scary at high speeds..should get a suspension upgrade lol

  • @twinturbo1995

Wasn't scary at all; car was vary stable at high speeds.

Made several (suspension) upgrades to make it this stable:

front & rear sway bar, thicker torsion bars, new shocks, new leaf springs, new bushings, subframe connectors, 17" rims with low profile tires and a front spoiler to keep nose down

  • @66PaleRider Before reading the comments i noticed how stable you steeringwheel is at those speeds, so i knew this thing aint with stock suspension and still with original powersteering? and all those whiners out there who are saying you should burn out or other way "abuse" these old muscle cars f*ck you, i think all these muscle cars should be owned guys who beat the s*it out of them but know how to fix them if they break down...if all these were put on climated storages we would run out spares

  • @HarleyPotter

This is still the stock PS. But hopefully within 4 weeks my 'extra extra firm' PS by Steer & Gear will arrive.

I know my car is very stable at high speeds (straight and in curves), but with this remanufactured PS I expect to get some force feedback

  • Very cool vid. :-D

  • This is so badass!!!!!!

  • Is it a 440 CID six pack? Congratulations! I never saw nobody puts a Muscle Car in action like that! Most people with muscle cars uses to makes burnouts that means nothing to me !

  • Holy crap they actually get out of the fast lane for you over there?

  • . . . this video shows that the old muscle cars of yesterday were more fit to be on a drag strip and not on a high speed highway like the autobahn. It doesn't give me a secure feeling hanging on to the spagetti thin steering wheel at 140 mph and hoping to not make any sudden lane changes. This old Dodge isn't a Grand Tourer for sure.

  • Love or hate the americans (i'm in the first) but what theater, what drama. Even though this car is hopeless in every way i love it:-) the guy driving even has '60 hair and big rings on his fingers - love it.

  • @bennovitz Why is this car so hopeless?

  • That's one helluva racket. Always nice to hear a classic big-block V8 at high speed!

  • 4 Minutes of automotive sex right here folks.

  • . . . the only reason to visit Germany!

  • @rudfil There are other things to do there, too...I think?! :)

  • Awesome sound, but the ride looks.... bumpy.

  • @demoskunk

Yeah, that's the 'price' you pay for stiffening suspension and body.

You get better handling but less comfort.

  • Nothing like American muscle. Sure there are many faster better handling cars out there but the feeling of brute force is something to behold....

  • wow, my ears have cum. multiple times.

  • HELL yeah...! I love dodge. :D

  • freakin' awesome!!!

  • These cars belong at home in AMERICA!!!

I will admit though... I sure wish we had an autobahn :-/

  • legendary car my dream is to have an @ Brazil

  • there was a Challenger inside McDonalds (no kidding) in Royal Oak Mi at 13 mile and Woodward. asking price was $40.000.00 OBO

  • Beulen met die bak! Mooi man

  • that 440 was hot after that fuck haha i like it. i personaly would wanna go down there in a ford with a 427 fe lemans winning engine

  • Is this a man or a woman driving?

  • Quite big hands for a woman ... ;-)

  • lol

  • It's a Hot Rod Hippie.

  • Oh yeah baby... I had a 71 charger with a 440. Headers with 3" exhaust. Forget the radio. Man I miss that sound

  • that was fn awsome

  • OHHHH that grumbly noise just makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up! This is proper muscle, I would love to have the pleasure of driving one, I couldnt afford to own one :(.

I will carry on dreamin so maybe one day... :)

  • Where I can find here in europe a Dodge Challenger Like your? How does it cost?

  • Check ebay...

  • European Vanishing Point!!!!!! Good job Kowalsky!!!!!! Is this Challenger R/T 426 Hemi? with manual gear Hurst "Pistol grip"? I would like to have a CHALLENER like yhour!!!!! It's my dream car!!!!!!

  • It has a 440 SixPack with a 4 speed manual, of course with a pistol grip shifter ;-)

  • Man if that car had two more gears?? So cool.

  • I LOVE IT!!! Very nice sound. :D

  • nice!!!!

i though that only in Amerika would dumb slow drivers block the passing line

  • GEIL!!! :D

  • nice machine ^^

  • Impressive. Shows that ole big block can raise the dial without hesitation. I have a '73 Roadrunner so I know how fun these machines are to drive. Keep that car up and don't be afraid to show them muscles!

  • hoooooolllllyyy shit!

  • Hej 66,

    Let the big dawg howl!

Great run, I think you hit 140 at 1:51. She was a' shakin" a bit.....

What kind of tires do you have?

    K

  • Hej Rider,

Thanks for letting the big dog out!

Nice road, I was sure at 1:51 you nailed 140. What kind of rubber have you got on that Chally?

    K

  • Falken FK-452

    front: 235/45-17

    rear 275/40-17

  • they would give the most?140MPh?

  • Depends on HP, gear ratio and wheel size

  • What did you have the engine speed at 139 mph? . Have you ever ridden in it even faster than that video?

  • @12325866 app. 6000 rpm

MSD ignition is limited to that 6000

    so this is the max

    gonna raise that limit soon

  • Hey Pale Rider drop in on our club site American muscle Cars Ireland we would love to see you there :)

  • what gearing have you in the rear ? I hear a 4 speed, is it a 383 ?

  • Transmission: 4 speed manual with 3.23 gears

    Engine: 440 SixPack

  • Sorry im not trying to be insulting forgive me if it sounds that way just thought differently! Cool car man im a Ford Mustang driver myself but love all even Mopars lol cheers Pale Rider *-*

  • No worries.

We live in a civilized and free world, so these kind of discussions should be possible without the strong language that you see all too often on YT.

I invite you to make a video of your car doing 130mph, so we and the rest of YTers can judge if there's a big difference ;-)

I love old musclecars and I wish there were more videos with high speed driving in stead of burnouts, or worse, a walk around the car.

  • @66PaleRider walkarounds are the worse videos!! No matter how good the car sounds, there is always some stupid song overbearing the car's engine. Do you have a walkaround video for this car? LOL

  • @culcun

Unfortunately I do, he says ashamed ;-)

But it had a special purpose; to compare the '70 with the '08

Look in my Challenger playlist, it's called 'Size Matters?'

  • @66PaleRider At least you have this video over 4 minutes long showing a Challenger in a way it was never really intended to be used--high speed driving up to 140 mph--most of the people who post videos of their walkarounds seem to continue only posting walkaround videos, or videos of their car doing burnouts. This video is very awesome, and allows you to shoot walkaround videos--but you will have to post more Autobahn top speed videos several minutes in length as punishment!! LOL

  • @culcun

    lol :-)

You're rite, I owe that to the community.

And I sure will after I've done some experimenting with camera position (to get rid off this optical illusion of driving 'slow' and experimenting with mic position to prevent this overmodulated sound.

btw: 'over 4 minutes long', 4:40 to be precise ;-)

If YouTube would show tenth of seconds I would have to make it 4:40.6

  • @66PaleRider Good thing your engine isn't a 383--I couldn't imagine what kind of time that would look like?!

  • @culcun Actually, High speed driving is exactly what this car was designed for, Richard Petty won several Nascar championships in a car very similar to that one, those cars are designed for hours of high speed driving. A slightly modified version of this car was the first to go over 200 mph in a nascar race, it was so fast that nascar had to change thier rules so that cars couldn't go as fast

  • @stupidjonny

You're thinking of the Charger for the Nascar racing. It was the Charger Daytona with the drooped nose and huge rear wing that was the first to crack the 200 Mph barrier in a closed circuit (technically they were "testing the transmission" that day.

The Challenger did race, but only in the TransAm circuit.

  • I have done 130 in my car and thats not 130mph

  • Well, everybody has his own truth.

I know that my speedo is correct .

If you feel comfortable with the thought that I'm not driving 130mph, fine with me.

  • @al1302s 130 mph does not look very fast on video

  • No way is he doing a real 130mph thats KPH sorry lad *_*

  • And you base that on what??

  • Damn that's cool, sounds so good!
