Just a little thought, I read a reply to one of Lisa Hannigans songs, 'Little Bird' about the possibility of it being about Damien. In it she mentions 'a house by the side of a hill', Damien mentions, in this song about a guy who 'lives in a house in the side of a little hill'. Also, he mentions about this lady being dressed in white, resembling an angel and being 'splashed in paint', anyone seen Lisa's video for 'Knots', she's dressed in white, angelic looking and being splashed in paint! ;D
this was always so weird.I'm a huge Damien Rice fan and when i was studing,i lived in house with orange tree benath my balcony and i was doing yoga for a while.so when i've heard this song it was funny.but when i consider the emotional part of the song,i can relate with Damien.I'm the one who always chase somebody.:(
@infinitecanvas11 Well.. basically about jealousy.. He's talking about some other guy being with the one he loves and him being ignored. So he describes the way this makes him feel, saying he doesn't need anything but her presence 'I get without giving anything to me'.
The title makes me think about.. either jealous dogs who ask for attention, or.. it may just be about the basic, animal instincts.
@Alecsssandra this is a really well thought out response, and i figure when he mentions dogs he's referring to himself how hes always around this girl doing what she asks and what not, and then there is the wolf, who is the guy who goes after he and gets her attention.
@Alecsssandra Its simple guys.. this song is about Dogs. Nothing complicated. The "She" that lives with the orange tree and girl that does yoga is the girl dog that even "picks the dead (oranges) from the ground when they go for walks. Damien is in love with the girl that does yoga, but all that girl needs is the dog or "wolf to keep her warm". The He is Damien's dog that lives with he and his younger brother "picking up the litter from the ground" as a dog would that his brother spills.
@Alecsssandra haha yes he is jealous... but jealous of the 1) the dogs that get to live with her all the time and 2) the fact that his He dog is in a doggy relationship with her She dog. And he just gets to bring the dog over to let them play together meanwhile HE is in love with the girl that does yoga. Such a deep song with such few words... this is why DAMIEN IS GOD :)
@infinitecanvas11 I think it's about a girl who he really likes but who loves someone else and he's excluded from them. I think the title refers to the two lovers being faithful to each other like dogs are faithful to their owners.

I think the song is about a normal boy that is in love with a girl. He loves everything about her.
They are friends and he would do anything for her but when he shows his feelings to her she doesn´t feel the same.
She is confused because he was the only normal guy for her.
to be short it´s about 2 good friends but 1 falls in love and the other one doesn´t feel the same
