Wow! where did you learn to speak English so well? I am just kidding, I know U R an American, its just U R so fluent in Chinese, I forgot English is your first language. You are amazing, so multi-talented. 入得廚房, 去得廳堂。 西利!
@waikay11 HAHAHAHAHA!!! I used to speak Cantonese so often that I would think in it most of the time, but now that I've gone back to University, I think mainly in English again. Thanks again for your comment and stay tuned for new video's. They are on the way ASAP!!!
@kimmeeCheah That's a pretty good idea, but I was thinking about explaining it in English since most Cantonese people already know how to cook Cantonese dishes LOL.
Great video Frankie! and I kept missing it no matter how many times I went back, but what is the name of the Cantonese version of pinyin? Is it pinYUN? I could never get it no matter how many times you said it. Could you also show me a site or something where I can put that to use. When I am on QQ chat, I don't know how to put that cantonese to use, I can only use Mandarin pinyin. Thanks!
@JuhnLuk I think the word you're looking for is PingYam; this is because the way you pronounce "拼音" in Cantonese is PingYam. There are actually a few different ways to romanize Cantonese into PingYam, but the most popular one used in the west today is called Cantonese Yale. It was developed back in the 1970's by Yale University(hence the name). All of the textbooks in my video romanize Cantonese using that method.
@jct546 I sure am!!! I feel that Cantonese is a richer, more colorful, and more expressive language than Mandarin; and I hope that more people will be interested in learning it because of that. Cantonese has been around a lot longer than Mandarin, as a result, it retains many cultural and metaphorical expressions that end up making Cantonese a very fun and exciting language to learn. it's my hope that people will see my video and go out and buy these books to learn Cantonese themselves! ^_^
@yipzhang5201314 Thanks!!! I bought it in New York at a shop called Nebulous NYC. It's located at 15-17 Elizabeth Street, In Elizabeth center on 1st floor. Be sure to check it out!!! They have loads of other cool clothing and other stuff there as well!!!
@frankie0414 I am all the way in Cali, bro. By the way, I had never seen a non-native Chinese speaker who speaks and understands Chinese so well like you. Especially in Cantonese, it is really hard to learn even for many Mandarin speakers.
@yipzhang5201314 I was very fortunate to grow up in an area with a large majority of Cantonese speakers. That in combination with a very strong interest in the Cantonese language and culture have brought me to the point i'm at right now. The reason Cantonese is so hard to learn lies in the fact that there are no qualified instructors to teach it; also, there are very few reliable book's that you can learn Cantonese from(other than what I posted in this video of course) above the basic level.
@allaboutdaniel I sure hope that I can! I have so much knowledge that I can share with the world about the Cantonese language and Chinese in general. That way, people who want to learn Chinese won't have to go through the same pitfalls that I did. They will be able to learn Cantonese faster and with greater efficiency. ^_^
@ItsSumo hahaha, you must be referring to the Hong Kong flag in the background. I made a collage out of all the photo's I've taken on my various trips to HK and attached them to a HK flag. I think it looks pretty awesome!!!
@ItsSumo Thanks!!! It's true, I really love the Cantonese language! I hope that by making this video it encourages other people to purchase these textbooks and try learning it themselves. Thanks for your comment! :D

It would be great to see you cook. You can cook a Cantonese dish and explain it it Cantonese. Then have subtitles on the bottom.
