I'm seeing this more and more for a "fix" for a Microsoft malfunction. This is as bad as the Red Ring it should have the same warranty ... I've purchased multiple xbox 360's over the last 5 years. ok there is a easy way to fix this but u have to do it everytime u play a new game all u have to do is tap on the 360 while the game is in and it should read the disk u tap where the disk drive is witch is abouit 2 in away from the xbox360 logo and if dont work try it again and keep moving ur hands and tap on it in diffrent spots on the left of the 360 logo

I found a solution that works for me after a long period of time with this problem.

Get an air spray canister (just compressed air), open your Xbox's game tray, take the disc out, then spray the air along the tray, moving side to side inside the Xbox. You may want to spray into the vents, too, just to be sure.

This worked for me, and it was the only thing that worked for me. I had already tried hitting the console with the controller (gently), and doing the stuff Microsoft recommends etc.

From what you are doing to get yours working I would try the paper into the slot technique. Not sure if it actually works or not but there are people on youtube who claim it does. Worth a try I guess.
