  • Nice demo comparing and contrasing auto-tune to (how shall we say it?) "real singing"

  • You were really on pitch the second time, how do you do that??

  • Auto-Tune butchers slides.

  • I swear I heard "be our gayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy" "st"

  • Is this version by Aaron Dale? He loves long notes at endings... Congratulations!

  • Hey D, What's that song at the very end? The one in Japanese

  • The auto tuned version sounds like one of those old 90's video games. :)

  • You used Memory from Cowboy Bebop.

    <3

Also, I sent you an email.

  • You're so accurate, you don't need Autotune; it makes you sound like a Cylon (Battlestar Galactica).

  • be our gueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeST

  • @mensje12 Circular breathing is impossible while singing. I took a big breath and didn't let much of it out :)

  • Will say that the autotuning lets me to hear the 2nd tenor a bit better than when it's not on:)

  • I like the part where we are their guests

  • In holding your note, is that just feat of control, or do you have to do lung exercises?

  • Awesomeness! Pure, unadulterated awesomeness!!!

  • wow this just makes me think about what this guy used to call me yeah he called me "Auto tune" that jerk -_-

  • I love autotune

  • wow auto tune does make you sound robatic....creepy..great singing tho, without the auto tune or much less of it..lol

  • hoooooly crap. nice pipes man.

  • HOLY SHIT, YOU HELD A NOTE FOR 30 SECONDS!

And not once did it go flat or sharp.

    Badass. haha

  • hit that note boy(;

btw what was that song during the credits? it sounded cute

  • hit that note boy(;

  • did yourealy use autotune??? it doesnt affect your voice much

  • wow. you really need to join a supernote team.

...well at least when the contest starts up again

  • lol its like autotune makes bad singers good, and excellent singers mediocre...u are really gifted man keep it up

  • NO MORE AUTOTUNE

  • haha it sounds like car horns! lol no tone at all, I'd so stick with NO autotune, your skill level can handle it ;)

  • Epic post. My GOD. How long was that, over thirty seconds holding that note?

  • its got a little more auto tune vibrato

  • LOL T-Pain Barber Shop Tag!!! XD

  • hahaha, this is so funny! Autotune can go to the devil!

  • I can hear the difference cool

  • omg that is cowboy bebop....I need to subscribe... and you are awesome :)

  • Fuck me, you look rather stressed with that long note D:

  • The amazing thing with this video is that the autotune destroys the intonation. I'm sure the high-end autotune devices realize that a major third in a given scale should be lowered and the perfect fifth raised (and so on), but when you go strictly A=440, you lose SO much power to chords.

As it was said before, this guy has pipes. Great vid.

  • dudes got PIPES!!!! never heard someone hold such a beautiful note for so long with such power

  • 12 people are useing autotune =P

  • It's difficult to hear the difference. Your'e amazing dude.

  • autotune takes away that "barbershop ring" that our voice make when they lock together! besides....you dont even need it you are a terrificn singer! btw it was cool meeting you n the canada chorus at midwinter n singing "seasons may die" tag xD

  • love your music art the beginning and the rest of the video!

  • @ sinister1324 haha me niether i would like pass out on the floor and be gasping for air XD

  • Awesome vid & singing! I don't think there is anything more that can describe your talent other than epic!

  • I can definitely hear the difference

  • amazing how you can hold that note for so long. i dont think i can do that.

  • The Autotune gives me a headache, and it does make you sound like a robot. So with you there.

  • @ nartard34 and daniscool99

yea. Its really hard to do that for a long period of time. Isn't ven think I can hold out one note for even 3/4 of that time. Idk about half tho. I cud try. :/ but not now cuz I be lazy. But great job even tho this is the second video I've seen of urs :] haha.

  • lol @ dan and caiogflopes notice how he seems to be struggling to hold it in the end

  • @nartard34 Well it's not like it gets easier as time goes on..

  • @nartard34 i know and its very understandable, its not like i could hold it that long myself

  • Oh em gee.. Do you have autotune for Audacity? Because it doesn't work on my laptop ;[

  • @XxMinixNinjaxX I don't use audacity.. I use Logic Pro 9.

  • AUTOTUNE: Turning people who can't sing into robots who can't sing :o)

  • I think the Auto tune sounds more robot like. Its just more synchronized

  • I don't like autotune... maybe it's just cause I can hear it really easily (if that even makes sense.) Although it makes your music technically perfect, there's a little bit of broadness that dies with it.

  • @NCMycelium auto tune doesn't correctly tune the pitch tendencies of certain parts of the chords. that's why the 3rd at 1:29 is a little bit sharp. you're better off using your own ear!

  • I am in awe of the breath control during that extended high note.

    Wow.

    Just wow.

  • the wonderful fail of autotuning!!! the only thing autotuning is good for is "autotuning the news" lol

  • Am I the only one that gets reminded of Banjo Tooey in the first 20 seconds or the video?

  • This is The Coolest thing i've ever SEEN!!!!!!

  • dude, I know you sound like a robot with autotune, but to be honest, you make a pretty epic robot voice when you sing with autotune, it wouldn't hurt to expand that and use autotune to make interesting affects

  • Dude that was longest note in history. O_o

  • Bravo, as always. Your stuff is entertaining and good, Danny. Thank you!

  • Your long note... xDD Impressive breath control, seriously!

  • The Autotune makes you sound pretty awesome, actually...

  • Auto tune is the Steroid of the vocal world. I would like to suggest that all recording artists should have to submit to an auto-tune screening before and after recording, and that those who test positive should have to market their CDs in a special auto-tune section of the record store or e-store.

  • @tenorman777 or if you need to auto tune your voice to sing maybe you shouldnt sing at all..that would be my solution lol

  • "Be our gueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeest."

  • @SJRogers Needs more ""eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"'s

  • you use auto-tune in both of them right? i can totally hear the difference between this video and the rest but the first run through just seems to have less auto-tune over it.

  • DO THE DANNY PHANTOM THEME!

  • lol i just sang along to that super long note and made it the whole note XD idt i could've gone like any longer haha

  • Much preferred WITHOUT the autotuning. Good on ya, man!

  • Very nice post. :)

  • If I may: What is the name of the song at the end?

  • I have NEVER heard ANYONE hold a note so long. EVER IN MY LIFE. Most peeple exaggerate but that was truly impressive.

  • sick breath control

  • Yikes!- Definitely doesn't need auto-tuning! And he is a so funni too!!! lol

  • Wow. Couldn't tell the difference. Sounds like you don't need the autotune.

  • @Youtomia Yeah, it just takes practice. Maybe one day someone I know will be able to hold a note for one minute and seventeen seconds like me!

  • Yeah...Autotuning is for people who cant sing in the first place....Thats not ur problem dude! Ur awsome!

  • I'm not speculating one way or the other, but... Is this video supposed to prove that you DON'T tune your vocals? Because it doesn't. It just proves that you use autotune correctly and that you don't compromise the integrity of the vocals.

  • whoa it sounds like an organ when you auto tune it

  • Holy shit. You held that note for 33 seconds. Where do you keep all that air? o_O

  • @Youtomia it's not that difficult, just a lot of practise. ;) i can hold a note that long too, after warming up my voice.

  • We can see the difference, but not very good... And, let the people said, you have a super voice, and you are (really, for me) THE singer of the year (the young singer of curse) Sorry if I'm not so clear, i'm french and don't work in english classroom^^

  • Beep beep boop x)

  • you sound like an organ in the chords on the autotune version :P

  • ha - sounds like a vocal spectrum recording

  • Do you still have the sheet music?! My quartet would love to sing the disney songs!

  • a full 33 and a half seconds. my dad nearly fainted when hearing this

  • Hey did you know someone autotuned your video?

  • i cannot get enough air just because of watching. amazing.

  • You must have super lungs!!

  • Hmm... I find it weird how I can hold this note that long in falsetto, but not at my actual range

  • holy crap! That's a long note.

I don't usually like autotuning but this is good. ><

  • Okay, so you would think that If Autotune makes crappy rappers sound "good," it would in effect make real singers sound bad. But I could barely hear a difference. Brilliant.

  • sorry i didn't read all the comments. :slapshead:

When are you guys coming back to Ontario? Still at Humber?

  • Dan you're sick. Sweet post and the autotune didn't change much ;). Dead nuts. Just wondering if the autotune feature is tempered like a piano's tuning? If that's the case you've got a lot better chance of overtones (and under) without it on.

P.S. I'm going to be the old guy in Vegas this midwinter. I sing bass. Congrats on representing in Philly. Hope you had a good time.

  • autotuning is used for people who dont sing.. when your singing the actual note, you dont need it.. so you cant really tell here

  • O.e you broke my speakers....dont worry i have extras!!

  • much better without the autotune!!! Great voice! (The real one! ) :)

  • It's kinda a bummer how much the autotuning takes away from it all. it makes your held note sound annoying instead of impressive.

Kudos to you cuz u dont need no autotune.

Also, between your love of music, anime, and 'Mercan 'Parel, I think we are nerdsoulmates.

  • omg that was cowboy bebop inbetween the tests. what was the song at the end.

  • AMAZING breath control! wow, that's really hard

  • Autotune makes is sound dead.

  • I want to know the lil Japanese song at the end too D: oh And I think both with and without autotuning is pretty good lol

  • Ooh, I'd like to know that Japanese song at the end, too. Seems Cowboy Bebop related? Haha I understood the last line of it yay "Fish's tail..." :D

  • that was one looong note man.

    YOU ARE SO AWESOME!!!!!!

  • shit whats the intro song from?

  • I tried to hold that note for so long too

    and i only failed 1 time! :D Btw. What's

up with the japanese anime ending

    shit? You watchin' that?

  • Is there no way to make AutoTune sound better than that? I've never noticed the huge lack of upper harmonics before.

  • there are two things i like autotune and multitrack and u put them both together so good job. u should do more of these things.

  • IM AMUSED!! thoroughly! You have Ed singing the Pi song on the end credits! Cowboy Bebop YES!!!

  • lawl at autotune... your talent cannot be replicated by a computer or even improved... your comment in the beginning made me picture you as a robot in the autotuned part

  • haha what was that last lil song? :3 i loooved it! that one note (you know which one) is fantastic! haha much better than that justin beiber guy!!

  • nice!!!

  • Really enjoy the use of Cowboy Bebop music in this. b^.^d The autotune didn't sound that much different to me but hey man, do what you friggen want. People shouldn't get angry at your opinions/decisions. You're the singer here. Go for it.

  • I like the untuned version better.

  • Okay nevermind just watched the end.

    Hello fellow Bebop fan!

  • @daniscool99 ^-^ !

  • @daniscool99 BEBOP

  • This is COMPLETELY random but..

.. did you watch Cowboy Bebop?

Cause the 'song' at 1:08 reminds me of it?..

  • Wow, the autotuning sounds horrible when its on with the comparison of it being off.

  • What is the little kid at the end? What song is it? lol

And you do have some boss skills, good sir, haha.

  • you sound like weird al with the autotune and autotune is for no talent shitheads also when you're holding the long notes it sounds like a loop. you sound awesome though and if i could collab with you i would cuz you have real talent.

  • Not only CAN you hold the not,but it's also very clear and perfectly pitched.

    kudos.

  • dude...u'r good anywayz congratz xD

  • lol you're pitch is so incredible that auto-tune barely had to do any work XD you sound virtually perfect without it, great work!

  • Something strange to note about autotune as well, compared to a vocal quartet, where very very minute adjustments can be made by ear, autotune sounds, oddly enough, OUT of tune! Likely because autotune uses equal temperament, and a singer doesn't think about their frequency, but how the harmony sounds.

  • @step1990 Couldn't agree more

  • you don't need autotune!

  • you're absolutely amazing!!!

  • WoW!

  • 33 seconds..you held that note for 33 friggin' seconds!!!!

  • DUDE you held that note for a LONGGGG TIME!!!!

  • Nice. Btw what's the song at the end? It's so beautiful that your singing wasn't :)

  • @ Relaera. I never said I couldnt here the autotune I said I could here it but not that much. Thats what I said!!! I was actually sticking up for the guy. READ!!! before you wanna start talking shit!

  • yes, it makes you sound like an organ ... i'll take VIRGIN danny, thank you very much

  • Guy, how long can you hold a note?? hahahaa

  • @caiogflopes Not much longer than this! lol

  • @caiogflopes in this video, its 33 seconds. close to tim waurick. :]

  • This is really amazing. Awesome video.

  • 32 second note?!?!?!?!?!?! freakin awesome. jealous!

  • dude that long note is commendable... i am jealous of how long you can hold a note. whether its auto-tuned or not

  • That was amazing! You are very talented!!!! I can tell the little difference. Just tell people who say other wise to step off. Haha

  • @hissmoothcriminal As a side note: Your inability to hear the autotuning doesn't mean it isn't present, and definitely doesn't mean that other people can't hear it.

  • @Relaera I never said I couldnt here the autotune I said I could here it but not that much. Thats what I said!!! I was actually sticking up for the guy. READ!!! before you wanna start talking shit!

  • I agree. I really love it when people say that they "used no auto-tune" in their recording, and yet it sounds like the new Droid intro, lol

  • How do you do this multi track video recording? What program do you use?

  • Hey Danny, I think you're great, and I LOVE your latest Hit That Jive Jack video, it's awesome! That's exactly your kind of music and you did a great job with it!

I have a question though: Although you've never commented on my videos about this, I've seen you comment on a few other videos. I am wondering if it's just the autotuning that you despise? Or is it any kind of pitch correction? Your answer won't offend me in any way, I just want to know your opinion. Thanks man!

  • @FineyLeee Hey Simon, I am not a fan of pitch correction in general. Other people disagree and that's okay with me. I want singers to sound like singers and not with an electronically enhanced buzz. If I don't notice the pitch correction then I'm happy with it. It's when people undersing and over pitch correct when I can't stand it. People use it as an excuse to sing poorly and not use the advantage of recording to their advantage.

  • Ok that's awesome! Thanks for letting me know!

  • @FineyLeee My pleasure! :)

  • @FineyLeee I would assume you're referring to Melodyne, which often has a more robotic sound to it, and creates what are called "Melodyne artifacts". Pitch correction is fine for learning tracks, etc. (Because I hate an off-pitch learning track), and while YouTube isn't exactly top-tier publishing, autotuning an entire tag or song should stay off of it. Otherwise, people shouldn't be upset when they're called out on it. (Just my $0.02).

  • seriously i love you. that note. HOLY LORD. can we get married?

  • @koosha55 We can be cyber friends

  • That sustained not was amazing. What note was it exactly?

  • @tartanmusician it was a G

  • idk how you held that note bro but it was sweet, 5* lol

  • That sounded just like a learning track! You could be Waurick, Rylander or anyone out there with a bit of auto-tune!

  • @DanishCartoonist I'm doing some learning tracks! Privately :)

  • What program are you using to auto tune? I am just starting out in the Digital Music World and I'm interested in how these things work.

  • @jtg90 Logic Pro Studio has one included that I use.

  • what was the song you put at the very end o.o sounded so cute :D

  • @leetfeetman "3.14" from the cowboy bebop sountracks

  • Cowboy Bebop has arguably the best use of music in all of anime.

An American-produced anime-like series that also has very, very good music (and which is also the best American-produced animated TV series ever, beating even Batman: the Animated Series and Disney's Gargoyles, which I didn't think was POSSIBLE!) is "Avatar: The Last Airbender" (not to be confused with James Cameron's movie).

The music is from "The Track Team." Check out their MySpace pages for clips.

  • @COMALiteJ Hands down, I think Cowboy Bebop has the best music. Not only is it very unique and incredibly well done, it has so much variety and musician virtuosity as well. Great jazz licks, solos, and solis and interesting vocalists too.

  • Agreed on how good Cowboy Bebop's music is. But have you really listened to the music on Avatar: the Last Airbender? Not as much variety, true, but it's done for the most part using authentic oriental instrumentation (rarely synthesized versions thereof), etc.

Seriously: look up The Track Team's two MySpace pages (you'll know you have the right one when you see the animated logo of two track athletes running in place on a spinning phonograph record — very clever logo and name indeed!).

  • Is the Autotuner tuning to 12tET (standard concert pitch 12-tone Even/Equal Tempered scale)? Sounds like it, anyway. That's not what Barbershop uses, of course.

  • @COMALiteJ Yes, and Yes.
