  • whaddabout drawn to life on the wii? the next chapter? PLEEZ!!! ive wanted to see you play that game sooo badly!!!!!!

  • ...Wow, reading some of these comments is painful. I can't believe how few people actually know what a Metroidvania game is.

  • how about Etrian Odyssey i think its metroidvania game

  • Hi NakaTeleeli...i watched ALL your New Super Mario Bros. Wii Vids and The Legenary Starfy....Lots Of Times!!I love your videos!! I Have A Metroidvania game for you...Kirbys Epic Yarn...I have it on wii...its easy...it looks as easy as starfy!!im 10 and i almost beat the game!! <3 :) ... I LOVE WACHING YOUR VIDEOS SOOOO MUCH!! <3 :)

  • There was this Starpedo power up in the strong current at 4:30. How do you get it?

  • da frogs are called gribbits

  • could you do a let's play kirby superstar ultra

  • what do those greenish mushrooms do?

  • is Okami a Metroid Vania game? Sorry for my stupidity in gaming

  • @volta70 Ya want an Okami Let's Play? Go see Chuggaaconroy. He's got a good one.

  • @FursenTheFox

Or check out nakateleeli's. He's also got a good one...:l

  • pause at 6:00 OMG SUBLIMINAL KOISHI KOMEIJI REFERENCE(in the upper left)

  • crap. clicked this hoping to find help with the star door in the level.

  • You really should look up Xenosaga. It's an RPG without MASSIVE grinding, and it has a crapload of story. It might be too much story for you, but still it's a great game. It's also slightly under LPed.

On another note, Starfy sounds like he's constipated.

  • @MissingnoTheGreat yup, he sounds pretty constipated.

  • May I ask why/how Megaman X ruined Megaman for you? I've always been more fond of the X series for, well, 2 reasons; 1: I like the enhanced movement (Wall climbing, dashing, dash jumping, etc); and 2: Zero is the man (what?)

I'm especially fond of the Megaman Zero series because, though it plays like MMX, it feels different; darker, yes, but it is also some of the best writing Capcom has ever done. It's not just good writing by Capcom's standards, it's actually good writing (also, Zero).

  • awww not even megaman legeneds 3? (when it comes out ofcourse)

  • i do the miss a chest and go back too!

  • coo, i have that game too!:D its a fun game:DDDDDDDDDDDD

  • I have to wonder if anyone has suggested Eternal Daughter, it hasn't been LPed... ever... but its not that great of a game so I can see why.

  • Play Kirby Squeak Squad!

  • how can you gett off the subject on the game when your talking?

  • I would say that if you had a 360 that darksiders might not be a bad metroidvania kinda game (it's more like zelda then metriod but it also fits you definition)

  • here is my list metroidvania games

  • Metroid Castlevania II: Simon's Quest The Goonies II The Battle of Olympus Blaster Master Clash at Demonhead Faxanadu Master Takahashi's Adventure Island IV Zillion Wonder Boy III Genesis Popful Mail Super Metroid Super Adventure Island 2 Wanderers from Ys III Metroid II Shantae *Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Tomba! Metroid Fusion Metroid Zero Mission Castlevania: Circle of the Moon * Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance * Kirby * Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin * Metroid Dredd maybe not

  • noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • plz lp pokemon!

  • I don't know if it's been mentioned, but how about Blaster Master for the NES? It does have many of the qualities of a Metroidvania.

  • Metroid Vania. Combination of the words Metroid and Castlevania. You know I DID explain what one was in this very video.

  • play Kirby XD

  • wut in the world is he talking about O_o ?!

  • Battle of Olympus looks quite like Zelda II because it was made around the same time using the same engine ... gameplay wise however it is far more like a traditional Zelda-game than Zelda II was ... and it has less engrish, a less taxing difficulty and overall prettier graphics as well.

It is a great game, however it does NOT resemble a MetroidVania unless you squint real hard at it ... In my opinion it is simply the 2D Zelda game that Zelda II should have been. Awesome music too, by the way.

  • A metroidVANIA: Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. A real piece of pie, I mean work, for the DS!

  • Now that I think about it.... What exactly makes a Metroidvania game any different from a platform game?....

  • exploration and evolution of character. It's not stage based in the least. Nay, it's just one giant stage where the ending is in the center. It's more about exploration than constant action. You also get new abilities as it goes. Think Mario World, there are custom blocks that can only be destroyed by a fireball. So you have to go to the far right of a stage, fight a boss, just to get a fireflower. Then you go back to the center of the stage to get to the exit. That but ten times more complex.

  • @NakaTeleeli Hi NakaTeleeli...i watched ALL your New Super Mario Bros. Wii Vids and The Legenary Starfy....Lots Of Times!!I love your videos!! • @tomtia100 Erm... I've played and beaten Kirby's Epic Yarn... that's not even close to Metroidvania...

  • @smartboy201 Are you sure?

  • @WeaponizedPony Completely sure. Metroidvania would imply some form of getting a power, being able to backtrack and use said power to discover things or areas you couldn't before in previous locations... not the case with Epic Yarn. You're given everything you need to complete areas from the start of the GAME, and just completing levels from there.

  • Nice videos btw :D

And about a game suggestion, i have an idea but it's more looking like Metroid since it is actually Metroid.

It's a rom hack of Super Metroid named: Super Metroid Impossible.

I've seen some videos about it and it's basicly Super Metroid with the difficulty Cranked up Pretty much in my Opinion.

You should use save states if you want in that game if you'll play it one day. o:

  • is LoZ Minish Cap an Metroidvania? ;.;

  • LOOK people. I know I'm open to game suggestions, and if you want to make one feel free. But here I specifically asked if anybody knew any good metroidvanias. Don't just request whatever comes to mind. It's like you're not even trying any more...

  • murimasa the demon blade its pretty good i think its a metroidvania its allot like the original metroid but in japenese mythology but its on the wii

  • More an action RPG, but it does have Metroidvania elements, and is absolutely beautiful. I'll certainly look into it.

  • Kirby squeak squad for the DS is pretty good.

  • blaster master is a good game for the NES

  • Skies of arcadia ledgends on the GC.

  • not even remotely a Metroidvania. It's a pure JRPG.

  • "J"RPG ?

  • Japanese RPG

  • Should've known.

  • Ha, gotta love 'em exploration games. It's probably my favorite type of casual gaming.

  • metroidvania should be descripted like:

    Non-linear,rpg,platformer games

  • Seems like I'm late into the suggestions. Aquaria?

  • I didn't mean Ape Escape in the Metroid Vania Category...

  • When you mention what Metriod-vania game is, that's why I suggested Demon's Crest for you. it's basically everything you commented on.

  • Why not try Koumajou Densetsu Scarlet Symphony?

  • Ico would probably be a good one, but I wouldn't be able to watch you play it because I plan on playing it myself...

  • I guess the one I suggested was one your already knew about. Oh well. I would be cook to see you LP them though. :)

  • if you have a wii murimasa the demon blade is a nice one

  • Can't wait to see what you pick Naka!

  • Sorry, I typed La-Mulana just before you said it.

  • Oh yeah... La-Mulana. Super fun and not nearly as hard as its made out to be.

  • You just have to think differently. It was made with the intention of making the player be more cautious, and not jumping down every hold and hitting every switch they see because they have a lifebar from here to kingdom come. It's not bad as long as you don't rush into it and think.

  • Well there's Iji... that's kinda like a Metroidvania but stage based. I'm sure you know all about that one though.

Um... Blaster Master... Astro Boy(kinda but not really). Sorry I'm at a loss on this one. I'm more your old school 'Square before the really stupid Enix merger' type gamer.

  • Popful Mail. Now that you mention it I'd like to see an LP of that.

  • I guess people don't really care or even understand what you were asking for...

And you do seem to say a little bit about the game.

  • I may just stop asking people these questions. I've explained it 2-3 times already and most requests still aren't even remotely close.

  • good plan. maybe.

  • shooter/platformer/exploration/backtracking

  • Huh, Okami(ps2) came to mind but that's all, and even then it might not fit your request.

  • Not a metroidvania at all, but it certainly is one of my all time favorite games.

  • I got it! Wario Land 3 for the Game Boy Color! It has powerups, it has exploration, it has treasures, it is a GREAT game.

  • 7:54 Indeed, this is not Kirby 64.

Other games... There's Bomberman 64: The Second Attack. A very good game that although it has a level like theme, does involve exploration and returning to levels with future power ups.... And it has Pommy! Which means Ogre could play too.

There's the Jak and Daxter series, especially 2 and 3.

There's also the Sly Cooper games, though exploration only really comes in in the second one but they all of powerups in them.

Let me see if I can find some more.

  • Theres also a PSP (maybe w/ more systems) game that is just Daxter, I'm not too sure what it's about though, because I have it but never played it before. It might not be a metroidvania, but I still think it might be one of those good games (or at least okay games) to play. NakaTeleeli, you might've played this game, if you did, can you tell me what it's about? Like a scale of 1/10 or something like that.. This is a long message... Maybe I should get on with my life and stop worring about games.

  • try ver 2.6 or no$gba

  • download ver 2.6

  • I've got a suggestion though i'm not sure if its been menitioned before. Aquaria for the PC is a metroidvania game and is quite good I might add.

  • I mentioned Battle of Olympus (which I also think bears a resemblance to Zelda II) because it was a game I just recently played through, and that it seemed sort of Metroidvania-ish, and also because just about everything else I could think of had already been mentioned. That seems to be the problem, though, in that just about all of the good ones have been pointed out.

(4:04) Starfy meets spike wall. "Ow."

As Wiseman would say: It's proof that you're not paying attention.

  • I personally like those games as well..hard to find real good ones nowadays. Well, for me anyway.

  • I don't know about the GBA Shaman King games, they were NOT good Castletroids to me. (I call 'em Castletroids :V) But all the good ones have been listed already. I really wish there were more out there - I absolutely LOVE the genre.

  • So could a request for you lping Banjo Tooie be considered a metroidvania?

  • still not really a Metroidvania, though it's closer than a lot of these other suggestions.

  • Also,I am stupid I asked that before I finished the video sorry :/

  • And a metroidvania is?

  • what is metroid mania? if any one knows email me

  • Metroid Vania. Combination of Metroid and Castlevania. I mentioned it in this video...

  • 5:24 spin fail

  • what about banjo-kazzoie and tooie or there is the rpgmaker games there are some good one there also.

  • You pronounced it close enough. Thanks for the mention.

  • bwah iv got aria of sorrow

that was a good one I bet a lot of ppl wud like it plus it wud be fun to get all the souls and secret endings

  • There are a lot of those games out there... the problem is finding ones that are good. Or at least, ones that have a good variety. I wish I knew more games like that were metroidvania, but most of the ones I played I don't remember as much anymore. Plus, most of the 'good' ones have been done already. But like Ligeag said, the Shaman King games were pretty good. Just be careful not to grab the RPG one by mistake. Exploration games are sadly a dying breed...

  • Personally, Metroidvanias are my favorite type of game.

  • Here is few:

Iji for PC and Shaman King 1 and 2 for GBA. For bonus i say Ragnarok Battle Offline for PC. Last one isn't metroidvania but maybe you should look into it anyway :)

  • what about super smas bros brawl

  • Shut up, claw. That's nowhere near what he's talking about.

  • its pretty hard to find a good matroidvania that ISNT a metroid game or a castlevania game (and bunny must die)

i recommend within a deep forest but that's not so much a metroidvania as a explorer physics platformer with a real eerie feel in my opinion

still you want a good metroidvania you'd probably wanna stick to the name sake but they're almost all over done

  • metal gear solid and try getting every item lol

  • that would turn a lets play into a lets watch.

  • The Power is metroidvania I guess. It's pretty short though.

  • wow you seem a little picky about your metroidvania games Naka

  • not really, it's just metroidvania is its own genre, and not many suggestions were actually metroidvanias. It's like asking for a platformer and getting pointed towards a beat em up with a jump button.

  • Naka i have not really been able to download and play it but Eternal Daughter was suggested to me by a friend yesterday. I had a quick look and it seems like a metroidvania.

I have had to much uni work to really give it a try but if its not then sorry.

  • I've actually heard of this, and I've been meaning to look into it.

  • then I hope my friend is right and you enjoy the game

  • kirby and the amazing mirror is actualy a pretty fun game!

  • 8:05

    Cute chuckle, Naka. xD

  • Eh, you have a bit of a point with Tomba, and I concede it's weak on a few of the Metroidvania points..mostly that

    1) AP doesn't get you as much important stuff as it should (most of it comes from chest opening)

    2) you could probably get by with the default pants and non-grapple weapons for most of it. The jumping/dashing stuff helps, obviously..most of the "super powered up" feeling is when you can have 16 health instead of 8.

  • You could try the Prime series.

  • Muramasa is kinda like a metroidvania right?

  • I'll give you 2 suggestions for a metroidvania:

    A metroid game

    A later castlevania game

  • KAM! (kirby and the amazing mirror!)

  • I have something that may be considered a Metroidvania, it's called Broken Cave Robot. You only have 5 minutes before an automatic game over, but the idea is that you have a map screen that you draw yourself (It's not required, I didn't use it and played from memory, but it can be useful for sure) You collect items to climb, jump, or have a larger field of vision. A quiet song plays in the background that gets faster as time runs as well. Check it out and tell me what you think.

  • Does seem to be a metroidvania, but I doubt I'd ever play that, to be honest. I myself am not too keen on time limits :P But I might check it out, who knows.

  • nice video
