Leipzig ? British victory ? LMAO that's the austrians, russians and prussians who were at Leipzig not you ! Really well done.
@maxi3317 nothing but excuses is all I hear about French defeats..
You don't hear excuses from us Brits in American revolutionary war facing not only the Americans themselves but also France, Spain, Holland and the Mysores in India
@maxi3317 what are you on about we have kicked the shit out of you time and time again 1 v 1 or even when it was 10 to one we still allways kicked your ass you forget the one thing you french are good at and thats dieing by are hand now jog on
@wariscomeing There not just good at dieing, surrendering is their best military advantage. The largest army in the world with the most advanced tanks and planes against a smaller German force surrendered within 6 weeks causing the British to evacuate from Dunkirk as the French had no will to fight and Britain knew they'd give up so the BEF was needed to defend Britain.
@maxi3317 Actually the french had many allies fighting on their side; Spain, Denmark-Norway, the Confederation of the Rhine, Poland, Holland, Italy as well as non European allies such the Maratha confederacy, Mysore and the USA who were also fighting the British at the time. Infact the majority of Napoleons Grande Armée was actually non french, and Napoleon himself was Corsican/Italian.
And i would like to understand where does your stupid patriotism come from. It is a question of education? One teaches you that you are the best since your birth?
I mean be serious. Your econopmy has been overtaken recently by italians and you are obviously behind France.

@rascasse83 Norman conquest were vikings and wiliam the conquerer was promised the throne of england by his english relative. Wiliam the conquerer descendent of Alfred the Great, English king from before that time. I say william had good claim to the throne and was supported by many englishmen to take the throne. the sooner you stop trying to claim a victory that is not yours the better. i know that france history is too great to try and claim norman history so why try to claim it? question?
And to summarise the Norman conquest of England, William the Conqueror head of a a 'county' fiefdom in north of France and descending of Vikings lead an army of Norman ( french/viking mix), Franks, Britons, Italian and conquered the whole of England in just a few months....
LordGeorgeRodney, can you stop starting all your sentences with the profound "LOL", i sounds like you're 15 years old. Normandy was kind of French before the Normans (Gauls tribes), the Vikings mixed with the locals and it was French soon after, so to me it about all the same....French whether youlike it or not. They spoke Norman French and now your language have some of their roots in French and a lot of your symbols are of Norman French Origin.
LordGeorgeRodney you are apparently not versed in the concept of being vassal to another king. Like William was vassal of what was at ze time the king of France (limited concept at the time), like ze Plantagenet king of England was also Vassal to the King of France hence the 100 y wars. I am not claming Norman conquest as a french conquest but as a Norman French conquest. You like playing on words without understanding wher people come from. Normandy was full of gauls and then franks, end of....
Normandy was a viking colony of Anglo Orkney Danes Norsemen etc..
that successfully won its right to it own it own land...
The whole vassal thing is irrelevant & is a mere word.. as the Duchy of Normandy showed that it was more powerful than the French king...& could even humbled him...
GeorgeRodney it's true Normandy was strong, It's true about Vicking & their culture. But they all mixed with local gauls & frankish culture. And who do you think was ze most numerous. Those who had been there thousands of years or the invaders? Do you think "Norman conquest" means they were all vikings? The dangers with seeing things from wikipedia-history books is u loose ze sense of reality & perspective. Your analysis is flawed by its procedure: too much wikipedia and litte facts fishing ;-)
@siorac54 What i am saying to you when i said "Ok so france is now under hungarian because nicolas sarkozy is hungarian..." Is that french people will be quick to say that being french is by birth when talking about Napolion, but when talking about the plantagenet rulers who were born in England then you change the rules. It is one rule or the other, you choose.
@chris25fr and this is coming from a half bloodied danish/italian/saxon nitwit who's country practically opened the front doors for the germans. read your own countries history before you judge others you immoral, cowardice "ohh i think i better lift my skirt up for this german" fucktard.
i know several things about my history joker. And i can tell you that 100000 french died in the north while resisting. A part of them in Dunkirk protected the retreat of the english via the channel. This aid was vital in order english return safely..
@chris25fr then you must also know that the french manned the Menaginoute line (a wall built during world war 1) and the germans just walked around it. another D'HO! moment for the french army. and you also had your own army chased out your own country, if you didn't paris would not have fallen so easily. there is a saying, france is a land of poets with few warriors. if this is false, why arent the french making much of a commitment in Afghanistan?
We are a land of poets with the third stock pile of Nuclear weapons in the world. The only country in thre world with Usa which has a nuclear powered aircraft carrier.
@chris25fr LOL! i could laugh all day about how wrong you are. the charles 'de gaul is no nuclear carrier, and the fact that you think france has the third biggest nuclear stockpile is amusing. i bet fuckin isreal has more nuclear weapons then france. and its not stereotyping, its true, you may have all that military equipment but france lacks the balls to use it.
@chris25fr once again you have failed to answer my question, if you say france has a bigger military prowes over britain, why are you not making as much of a commitment as we are? do tell, im curious. i'm sure if i had my own nation i would commit as many as my troops as possible, but france, as always, has pussyfooted around afghanistan. sure there are a few medical stations, but come on. pull your thumb out and get off that high horse of yours. get in the fight.
You have reading problems it seems. The military is not only nuclear weapons.. About afghanistan, we have 3500 soldiers there. Uk the double i think. Doesn't change the fact that 50 French died there..
Btw :France leaded bombing missions from the Charles de Gaulle several years ago(hundreds of targets)
@LordGeorgeRodney and the guy didn't really answer my question. why aren't the french making more of a commitment in afghanistan when french people like him say they are the third strongest power on earth. this guy makes me lolz!
he thinks france has a bigger nuclear stockpile then china! oh man. XD
@chris25fr Brits were only 10% of the allied army the fact they had to fall back was because the French were incapable of fighting the Germans.
British and empire forces inflicted the first great defeat on Germans at Operation Crusader and the 1st siege of Tobruk 1941 for 1st time thousands of Germans (rather than Italians) surrendered.
@gipcambero My friend i like france alot and i think france is great too, but i am saying that sarkozy is french just the same as any ruler who claims to be king or queen of england or britain is british. There have been many movements of peoples across europe and the monarchs of europe have definately got a mixture of ancestry from interbreeding and cross breeding bloodlines. As for richard 1 speaking french - well french was the most spoken language across europe at that time.
Good vid. I am astounded the French think they won 'just as many battles against us' in this war, it is incredible to come up with this assumption given the statistics.... and the fact that we were the winners anyway.
@LordGeorgeRodney we lost the Napoleonic wars almost alone against everybody (on land you were way too scared of us ;-)
But Napoleon was a tyran who caused the death of millions accross Europe. But as everything is balanced he also caused great advances in the french legal system and the like. But overall i am not a big fan of his.
@LordGeorgeRodney. So you love listening to excuses, do you? You think that facts from other peoples comments are just excuses. Aren't you being a little hypocritical yourself, since your facts can be used as excuses for British "glory"?
Do you honestly think that just because you listed so many battles in your videos, you can assume that I will not be able to examin them all thoroughly, to see if you're exaggerating a little. there were absolutely no English participants in leipzig.
LordGeorgeRodney, for today's psychotherapy session your task is to list 10 french victories on here and then i will list 10 of my favorite british victories. Come on you can do it. We can help you become sane again. You will see the world with different eyes you will be amazed.
LordGeorgeRodney, It's true the french were dominant everywhere so to exist you had to steal lands and possessions from us ;-)
Every nation has had its moment in history, the aztects, mayas, romans, greeks, french, english, americans.....
today's worlds is certainly not french nor english - hence the constant mastur@(@tion from people like yourself to try to find a bit of satisfaction anywhere you can (the past). Maybe it is Chineese and Indian now. We will see......
LordGeorgeRodney that's a lie and you know it. I looked it up some time ago, only 200millions 300millions non native English speakers and 500millions in total. Mandarin is number 1 and Hindin number 2 confirming what i was saying about India and China. Spanish has more native speakers than English as well.
@LordGeorgeRodney I wish people were most balanced in their views of wars and rather than seeing who won what, they would try to get a more balanced view of the rightfull interests of the belligerants and not just see who was the best warrior.
@LordGeorgeRodney you should read this book, The Wars Against Napoleon. It will tell you that Napoleon was not a warmongering, power hungry tyrant. Like many people say about him.
Funny you speak of wars like they are video games. Stop playing strategy games where you see the british win all the time and come back to reality where things were and are not so rosy you would like them to be. I admit french defeats once in a while, you NEVER admit british defeats....
I don't have to deal with it, my present life is not impacted by a defeat or a victory 200 years ago lol. Maybe you are like that but i am not.
When i see where England is in the world today & where France is, i don't see one nation better than the other to be honest.......all this fighting in the past was ze struggle 4 nations 2 exist, now the fight is different, it's economical and both nations are doing OK. English people by their thousands live in France and vice versa, in peace and harmony.
Talbot, you won the war as part of a coalition don't forget that - you didn't win it single-handedly (just to make sure that's not what you imply......)
In terms of major 'battles' on land, Napoleon armies won by most of them and that's what the French mean by 'we won as many battles as England if not more'. Also in those major battles we never lost against England alone because you never dared to fight us on one-on-one....You would have been crushed by the Napoleonic war machine, strategy and discipline (and i am not a fan of Napoleon...).
@LordGeorgeRodney and you need to get a LIFE lol counting your battles and your dead youre pathetic. I am just trying to restore a bit of truth in all this anglo-saxon propaganda........i won't stay around on your channels don't worry ;-)
@Talbot6832 lol you are all counting battles as if they were marbles. Get a life ! France won many great war some wihch lasted 100years, others which involved other allies, so did England. They is absolutely no point in arguing over this.
@LordGeorgeRodney, well at first, England has been winning, but the French determination expelled them out of France after the death of Joan. France hasn't lost a single battle in the later stages of the hundred years war, about 30 years before the end of the conflict.
You, men of England, who have no right to this Kingdom of France, the King of Heaven orders and notifies you through me, Joan the Maiden, to leave your fortresses and go back to your own country; or I will produce a clash of arms to be eternally remembered. And this is the third and last time I have written to you; I shall not write anything further.
A siege by a young lady ?!?! I mean did she really exist?!?! My god the story is so unbelievable....... the english being kicked out with the help of a woman. You must have got scared LOL
LordGeorgeRodney, so you find victory in defeats then.....you are one hell of a kind. If you employ such terms when ordering beer pints at your local no wonder your mate find you less than agreable and loud. I recommend you get a few rounds in before employing such language and then maybe start on your battle victories statistics, then maybe they will start to take pity on you (alcohol helps) and let you mumble your life away....
LordGeorgeRodney, you keep not understanding history and yet commenting on it. You do not understand the Arc de Triomphe so why mentioning it? If you are unsure about something, a subject, a topic like French history, it's best you leave it at that rather than acting ridicule. If you are really a 15 year old like i think you are, then maybe you haven't covered that part of french history in your curriculum yet. Wait a bit it will come in time if you can wait.
Just type "Arc de Triomphe" in wikipedia and read it all, not just the bits that suit you. Remember about understanding the whole picture ? You are a very narrow minded 15 year old. Arc de Triomphe was commissionned after Napoleon armies won the great battle of Austerliz. And i say 'Napoleon' because i am not a great fan of him. You see, that's being objective mate wherease i am sure you love and wan@ on all your war heroes every nights when you're alone in the dark.
Lesson-giver GeorgeRodney, so you would have done any better? Try to face a panzer division and its 200 tanks at blitzkrieg speed and see if you can fare any better. Lucky you're on an island mate, very lucky as you wouldn't have resisted either. Study your history books matey. The basic tactical mistake that EVERY allies made was to expect the germans wouldn't cross through the Ardennes. They got everybody by surprise including the rossbeefs.
LordGeorgeRodney, i have had good fun winding you up. I leave this thread and have no real hope you will see history from a less biased point of view. Because i think you get a kick from being here than you do not get elsewhere.
So to summarise the 100years wars in a simplistic manner,
The english army, a mix of descendants of Norman-French and English led by a Norman-French Plantagenet king almost conquered ze whole of France but got kicked out by another French king and a virgin French girl.
Leipzig ? British victory ? LMAO that's the austrians, russians and prussians who were at Leipzig not you ! And sry but LOL which victory : 2 days to "defeat" the french just because of the reinforcements really, and not allone obviously cause that was too difficult to defeat the french 1vs1 ROFL 3 countries against 1 and almost the same number of deads and woundeds.

@rascasse83
yeah like France lost & Boney surrendered his fat ass to British trying to run away after his defeat at Waterloo
LordGeorgeRodney 2 years ago
@LordGeorgeRodney you should read this book, The Wars Against Napoleon. It will tell you that Napoleon was not a warmongering, power hungry tyrant. Like many people say about him.

In Waterloo of the 120,000 Seventh Coalition (UK, Prussia and other) soldiers only 24,000 were British against 74000 French.
You clamoring on all roofs this being a british victory is somewhat interesting.....
rascasse83 2 years ago
@rascasse83
LOL!
At the time the most soldiers from nation or state was the United Kingdom
that's what matters under a British general renowned for kicking French ass in & out of Spain...
look at the French grenadiers get pummelled by British Guards & 52nd Oxordshire Light Infantry
OUCH!
LordGeorgeRodney 2 years ago
LordGeorgeRodney,
Funny you speak of wars like they are video games. Stop playing strategy games where you see the british win all the time and come back to reality where things were and are not so rosy you would like them to be. I admit french defeats once in a while, you NEVER admit british defeats....
rascasse83 2 years ago
@rascasse83
mmm
yes Waterloo was a French defeat so deal with it...
LordGeorgeRodney 2 years ago
I don't have to deal with it, my present life is not impacted by a defeat or a victory 200 years ago lol. Maybe you are like that but i am not.
When i see where England is in the world today & where France is, i don't see one nation better than the other to be honest.......all this fighting in the past was ze struggle 4 nations 2 exist, now the fight is different, it's economical and both nations are doing OK. English people by their thousands live in France and vice versa, in peace and harmony.

@rascasse83
but the satisfaction of Waterloo makes it ever more sweet full...
LordGeorgeRodney 2 years ago
Talbot, you won the war as part of a coalition don't forget that - you didn't win it single-handedly (just to make sure that's not what you imply......)
rascasse83 2 years ago
In terms of major 'battles' on land, Napoleon armies won by most of them and that's what the French mean by 'we won as many battles as England if not more'. Also in those major battles we never lost against England alone because you never dared to fight us on one-on-one....You would have been crushed by the Napoleonic war machine, strategy and discipline (and i am not a fan of Napoleon...).

India, Caribbean, the seas
how about Traflagar ... Spain & France!?
Dude you seriously need to learn history...

LordGeorgeRodney 2 years ago
@LordGeorgeRodney and you need to get a LIFE lol counting your battles and your dead youre pathetic. I am just trying to restore a bit of truth in all this anglo-saxon propaganda........i won't stay around on your channels don't worry ;-)
rascasse83 2 years ago
On sea well, that's another story you seem to be masters of the sea Rule Britannia. OK back to my fish and ships ;-)
rascasse83 2 years ago
@Talbot6832 lol you are all counting battles as if they were marbles. Get a life ! France won many great war some wihch lasted 100years, others which involved other allies, so did England. They is absolutely no point in arguing over this.
rascasse83 2 years ago
@rascasse83
France lost more battles in 100 years war so much so that England won more victories in France than any other country put together..
LordGeorgeRodney 2 years ago
@LordGeorgeRodney, well at first, England has been winning, but the French determination expelled them out of France after the death of Joan. France hasn't lost a single battle in the later stages of the hundred years war, about 30 years before the end of the conflict.

Some tasty quotes from this amazing french girl:
You, men of England, who have no right to this Kingdom of France, the King of Heaven orders and notifies you through me, Joan the Maiden, to leave your fortresses and go back to your own country; or I will produce a clash of arms to be eternally remembered. And this is the third and last time I have written to you; I shall not write anything further.

Siege of Paris an English city
repelled 7 sieges including one by Joan of Arc!!
ha ha!
LordGeorgeRodney 2 years ago
A siege by a young lady ?!?! I mean did she really exist?!?! My god the story is so unbelievable....... the english being kicked out with the help of a woman. You must have got scared LOL

Yes Joan of Arc being kicked out of her own captial...
bring me that beer French bitch!
LordGeorgeRodney 2 years ago
LordGeorgeRodney, so you find victory in defeats then.....you are one hell of a kind. If you employ such terms when ordering beer pints at your local no wonder your mate find you less than agreable and loud. I recommend you get a few rounds in before employing such language and then maybe start on your battle victories statistics, then maybe they will start to take pity on you (alcohol helps) and let you mumble your life away....
rascasse83 2 years ago
@rascasse83
That is rich coming from a nation that has the arc de Troimphe !!
a symbol of defeat as France lost in the end...
Looks like France takes pride of victories in defeats & there is proof of it
what more do I say?
LordGeorgeRodney 2 years ago
LordGeorgeRodney, you keep not understanding history and yet commenting on it. You do not understand the Arc de Triomphe so why mentioning it? If you are unsure about something, a subject, a topic like French history, it's best you leave it at that rather than acting ridicule. If you are really a 15 year old like i think you are, then maybe you haven't covered that part of french history in your curriculum yet. Wait a bit it will come in time if you can wait.
rascasse83 2 years ago
@rascasse83
what?! so you are denying then that Arc de triomphe was a symbol of defeat?
Sorry cus that is what it is...
it is even funnier when you have a battle that France lost written on it & many defeated Generals & Admirals..
Funetes D'Onoro 1811?!
LordGeorgeRodney 2 years ago
Just type "Arc de Triomphe" in wikipedia and read it all, not just the bits that suit you. Remember about understanding the whole picture ? You are a very narrow minded 15 year old. Arc de Triomphe was commissionned after Napoleon armies won the great battle of Austerliz. And i say 'Napoleon' because i am not a great fan of him. You see, that's being objective mate wherease i am sure you love and wan@ on all your war heroes every nights when you're alone in the dark.
rascasse83 2 years ago
@rascasse83
ha ha!
yes it should hav ebeen taken as France lost the war...
German troops march past it in 1940 then only for Americans to march past it...in 44
LordGeorgeRodney 2 years ago
Lesson-giver GeorgeRodney, so you would have done any better? Try to face a panzer division and its 200 tanks at blitzkrieg speed and see if you can fare any better. Lucky you're on an island mate, very lucky as you wouldn't have resisted either. Study your history books matey. The basic tactical mistake that EVERY allies made was to expect the germans wouldn't cross through the Ardennes. They got everybody by surprise including the rossbeefs.
rascasse83 2 years ago
@rascasse83
well thankfully for us
we won the battle of Britain thus which we saved your ass from speaking German any longer than it should...

LordGeorgeRodney, i have had good fun winding you up. I leave this thread and have no real hope you will see history from a less biased point of view. Because i think you get a kick from being here than you do not get elsewhere.
Poor sod.

@rascasse83
Yes funny because you go off subject when the real point of the video has been overlooked
shows that quite clearly..

Another quote from Joan or Arc
Of the love or hatred God has for the English, I know nothing, but I do know that they will all be thrown out of France, except those who die there.
Note from he quote publisher: they did get kicked out.
rascasse83 2 years ago
So to summarise the 100years wars in a simplistic manner,
The english army, a mix of descendants of Norman-French and English led by a Norman-French Plantagenet king almost conquered ze whole of France but got kicked out by another French king and a virgin French girl.
