SOYCD parts 3 and 8 are my favorite, they are moody, melodic, jazzy, and at the same time it is rocky, intense, and hardcore. If it was any other band or any other people, it just wouldn't work. Pink Floyd is Pink Floyd.
@progrockertom Hey there, there are a variety of bootlegs from this gig. The original was a triple vinyl called 'The Abdabs.... a great set' with packaging based on the official compilation release of 'Piper at the Gates' and 'Saucer Full of Secrets', called 'A Nice Pair'. There are other versions available too. I also bought a double CD from eBay some while back entitled 'In the Flesh' which was the name of this tour.
The solo is Dave and is part 3 of 1-5. The solo was played with distortion and he cranked up the volume during the Animals tour, as opposed to a quiter, more bluesy solo in previous tours. Snowy White may have added bits to the solo. (not sure).......
In an interview, David Gilmour said that, with the exception of Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall they always played their albums out of sequence because it kept the audience guessing.
I think this is actually Dave playing Solo in Part 3. He added distortion to the solo and cranked the volume of his guitar during the Animals tour. In the previous tours, the solo is much more bluesy and without the distortion. Not positive, but Snowy White may have added bits to the solo.
@whichonespink77 I agree NO smooth whammy bar vibrato definately indicates its from a Les Paul. Dave had a bridge Dimarzio FS1 (?) on the strat during this tour giving him a more biting edge. I like Snowy. Great guitar player. The funny thing is he got MAD props for his BASS playing on this tour as opposed to his guitar.
@whichonespink77 lol thats David, in 1977 dureing the solos he was channleing alot of Hate towards Roger and this is a reflection of that (not to mention hes boosting the drive on his Colour Sound Power Boost) . David has changed the solo many times through the decades, his 2001 concert version is simalr to this one but little biut more modernized
One of the greatest guitar solos, vocals, lyrics ever..... I could chew and swallow glass listening to this song because its that fucking great.... Thank you PinkPigSheep for making the world a better place... Seriously, the more people listen to this, the world is a little greater than the shithole it is now thanks to 1980-present...
@matt72582 sure, whatever you say...obviously the world was a great place from 1967-81 when Floyd was around; no wars, no famine, no serial killers, rapists, drugs, children dying in the streets, nope! Everything back then-as opposed to now!-was fantastic: honest politicians, freedom for all, peace, no hunger, violence or war, equality for all, no racism or apartheid...nope, Earth was a paradise! Gee, why DID Waters write everything he did when things were so wonderful? A real mystery there.

This sounds like a Snowy White solo to me. Different style than David's.

Yes it's almost certainly not David. I prefer him, of course. :) For example the intro to this performance of this song is sublime. (see part1)
