Noone was a 3rd generation American in 1776 as it was a colony of Britain so the settlers were only 3rd generation COLONISTS, people born in the colonies after independance then became Americans. The first demonstration of an incandescent light bulb was in 1835 in Aberdeen, by Scotsman James Bowman Lindsay (1799 - 1862). Thomas Edison never applied for a patent for said bulb until 1878. I'm not saying that the "Wizard of Menlo Park"; wasn't an inventor per se, but he did employ inventors, and if they invented something, Edison had sole rights to it.

Noone was a 3rd generation American in 1776 as it was a colony of Britain so the settlers were only 3rd generation COLONISTS, people born in the colonies after independance then became Americans. Most of the bad feeling comes from disgruntled 2nd generation immigrants (mainly of the Islamic faith). The reason why it's an issue all over the industralized world is coz during the 80's the rich elite realised that Asia had adopted our free market philospophy & were going to grow (essentially becoming us but bigger). India and China have 100's of millions of potential consumers/tax payers so the rich elite in the West decided to open up the flood gates to immigrants in order to try and offset this advantage that the East has in terms of demographics. To fellow Americans, isn't it time to pull out of NATO and all countries were we have bases? Abrogate current treaties and start from fresh? The people of the USA are essentialy as neutral as Switzerland but because we're the largest power in the world, our politicians believe we have to engage in two wars, protect South Korea, send a carrier task force to Japan, and since NATO=USA we have to send more weapons because the French don't have the Air Force to do it. Bring the boys home!

Americas contribution to combat operations in the European campaigns was negligible in comparison with the sacrifice of British Russian and the occupied countrys.

Sure Stalin was willing to sacrifice his soldiers in brutal assaults on heavily fortified Nazi positions, but that's not because that was a necessary part of the war, it was purely to enhance his own glory, he wanted to get to Berlin first. That is nothing to be proud of.
