@4raise That's interesting since Top Gear tested the M6 (505hp; LIGHTER than M5) and it got SMOKED by a 385 hp Carrera 2S on the Isle of Man TT Course. I am sure If I were driving MY 996 Turbo Cab (X50, 450hp) and Sabine Schmitz were driving an M5, She'd crush me. Her driving both, giving some standardization to the competition? No way in hell the M5 wins. Simple physics: lbs/bhp, friction (contact patch), Center of Gravity, and downforce ALL favor the Turbo. You probably say "porsch" too..

996 Turbo S - the genuine farewell 2005 model (with bigger factory turbos, 450BHP and a re-map) is the Ultimate. They still go for serious money £45-£50k and are likely to go up in price. Better cars than the 997 version and more desirable by some distance. You can tell one by the yellow ceramics.

I agree, I smiled when I read your comment as Ihave just bought a 996 Turbo s in GT Silver with Grey Leather. Shes totally unmolested and only done 23k miles with the Aero Body kit to boot. I gave 43k for it. I talked to the dealer and he didnt know what the S business was all about!! bought it off a bankrupt builder. Only drawback is that its a Tip and I wanted a Manual but its so perfect I couldnt turn it down at the price. Sundays will never be the same again. Worth every penny. Cheers.

Truely an awesome car. 100k brand new and now there going for around 25k. Kick out a private plate, tint the windows, lower on coilovers and get some wide rims . For the money you cant get a better car. Buy one before you meet a bitch who will say it's over the top and try and make you buy something more subtle. I should know. Lol.

the GT2 is nice, but the Turbo is a much better value.

for example, the 996, if you get a GT2...it'll costs you atleast 90K, if you get one that's old and has miles. for the same thing, you could get a Turbo for as low as under 50K

i had 96 993 dont think there will ever be a better looking 911. BUT just got my 02 996 twin turbo, and i gotta say. i didn't like the body style when they first introduced the 996, but if you go turbo, it's a different animal. it is unparalelled. but i am a recently biased over the moon owner. LOVE THIS CAR !

Well, I have one and have to say that I don't consider myself suoer rich or even rich for that matter. It depends on what you consider a priority. And you know what they say, if you have to ask how much or are worried about maintenance cost, then chances are, it's not for you. For those who own one of these, I'm sure you know what I mean.
