  • I've had Sciatica for two years, my doctor said it was muscle tearing.

  • i tried every bald dr in the state and every stretch known..the only thing that works for sciatica is old asian acupuncurist with a long grey beard.

  • if you have full blown sciatica, you really WILL NOT be able to go down on your knees (on all fours). If you're a backpain expert, you should be aware of that

  • @shanna1950- You are 100% correct! It would take me 3 minutes just to get in that position,then I would'nt be able to move! Can't lay on my back & lift the leg either. It takes me 10 minutes to walk 50 feet! I'm only 26 years old! Sciatica is the worst pain I have ever experienced! Kidney Stones,Dry Socket,& Blood Poisoning to one of my legs does not come close to Sciatica pain!

  • @Peacekeeper7 - Exercises from my physiotherapist. If pain is at left buttock, lean with right shoulder 30cm distance against wall- lower arm horizontally for support, both feet touching, then bend your right hip towards the door/wall and back. Repeat 12 times. Than stand straight, knees a bit bend. feet about hipwide apart, arms behind back, on hips, hold hands together. Bend backwards 12x. repeat exercises every 30mins. Instant relief. After half a day I was painfree. Easy and effective.

  • Wow, this fixed my lower back and leg pain almost instantly. I did this exercise for 30 seconds as advised and repeated the steps 3 times. Amazing, thanks for sharing!

  • The didnt give me meds! They wont even take me to the doc. im only 11 and i have this i read its not good for a child to have it!

  • wow that's the most intense piriformis stretch i've ever done. my problem is when i stretch the piriformis the left side of my neck hurts and gets really sore and tight and clicky

  • What if the pain is so bad you cant do this kind of technique?? My Sciatica is that bad I can hardly walk with it! ny Doc has provided meds but still in agony!

  • @2010AmericanGirl2010 You need a caudal epidural or sympathetic nerve block. Depending on how long you've had pain--they say there is a 6 months window between onset and treatment before it goes chronic. Mine went chronic.

  • @sparkandflame Might be a herniated disc causing the pain, I was terrible for 11 months until surgery 3 weeks ago. I feel so much better with no pain going down my butt and leg.

  • I have been having recurrent episodes of sciatic pain, tried this stretch and in seconds i could walk without the awful limp i had. The pressure on my nerve is almost gone. Hopefully it stays that way. Thanks a lot.

  • Had back pain for 3 days solid with cocodamol and ibuprofen, as a last resort tried this method and it worked like magic!!! The pain is still there but relieved by about 70%. Was walking like a 90 year old now I feel so much better. Thankyou soooo sooo much :)

  • @tiborzkarate walking is good if you rest it will tighten even more walk and exorcise

  • @easye1973 I find walking helps, as soon as I sit down, the pain is back in a few minutes.

  • If only it was that easy the millions of sciatica sufferers in the world would not be spending thousands of dollars looking for pain relief.

  • this is definitely not the best way to stretch the piriformis ... be carefully this way you can compress important tissues inside the knee =) there are better ways to get good results as well

  • ive been trying this one for a couple of days and has only made my pain worse...3 years ago i went through surgery and was 100% cured...it has returned... and this does not help me. im glad it is helping a lot of you people, my pain is just to crippling to do this.

  • If your in that much pain i would suggest going to a doctor.

  • After 4 days of bad sciatic pain for which I was taking Advil or Motrin to get through the work day, I finally tried this exercise. 3 hours later I was almost pain-free. The next day I continue to be relieved of 98% of my former pain, weakness and immobility. This is great!

  • If my sciatic pain is on the left side, am I supposed to do these stretches on the left or right side?

  • Wow! I was looking for a yoga exercise that i'd seen to relieve sciatic pain and stumbled across this. What a difference, and within only a few minutes! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

    I'll definitely be doing this 2-3 times a day from now on to keep the pain at bay.

  • i am unable to do any sciatic stretches the pain is unbearable whats any ones advice to this point after being prescribed predisone and vicadin?

  • You may have such extreme inflammation that stretching will actually irritate the nerve as well. If you haven't found a therapist or body-worker to help you, I offer the following. Lying on your back, place a tennis ball in the gluteal area of the affected side. Move the ball around finding tender spots. Do the same on the other unaffected side. If your pain is so acute that this is irritating, you must find a PT you trust and feel comfortable with to help. Good luck to you.

  • I've been in terrible pain for a couple of weeks now. Even saw a orthopod who did e-rays and saw no reason for the pain I was experiencing.

    After doing these stretches, I'm feeling much better.

  • excellent stretches!!!! A+++ I have been a cronic sciatica sufferer for years and no one ever showed me this exercise. Over the last two weeks I have had the most excruciating constant pain ever. After a desperate search for answers, I came across this video and within MINUTES I had diminished the pain to a comfortable level. Thanks!

  • The next day I had tingling in my left foot, which I have never had until now and it got worse by Friday. Also when I touch my back along the spine from about the middle of the spine and to the left and right of the spine going down, it tingles my left foot. I cancelled my next visit with him after that. Please advice, any help is appreciated.

  • Hi There, thanks for your advice. I injured my back about a month ago while lifting a trailer. I was in a lot of pain initially, was about 90% back to normal until 3 days ago. I had been going to a Chiropractor for about 2 weeks. I felt good the first week but after the adjustment on Monday, I had inflammation again. I visited him again on Wednesday and adviced him about this, he said it happens and adjusted my L5 again along with a neck adjustment. (continues onto next text comment)

  • Great dr. I tried this after my dr said you can't do anything for the pain other then meds. You guys rock. I did this one time and within a minute the pain was gone and hasn't came back. I have a high pain tolerance and don't take meds but after a week more of not being able to walk much it was more of an annoyance so came on here and found your video.

    Thanks so much. Highly recommended.
