I think fvalhiem1 is partly right with that...

I mean even though a game looks like something that came on and so kicked ass before it...it doesn't mean it's a rip off or anything...it still has it's own identity I guess...

more or like...it combined some of the elements found in other game and that was already awesome on it's own...like getting the feeling from another game and having the system from another and creating something not exactly unique but "different" on it's own...

@fvalheim1 action adventure rpg, you can upgrade and buy new weapons etc. it's kinda similar to monster hunter and phantasy star.

The atmosphere (NOT GAMEPLAY) is similar to Shin Megami Tensei games : a post-apocalyptic world with monsters roaming around everywhere xD

I play Monster Hunter Freedom and I tried out the God Eater demo and there are lots of similiarities but it's not a 100% rip-off.

i have mhf 1,mhfu and phantasy star 2...i think god eater is just 40% monster hunter and 60% phantasy star portable and the atmosphere like devil may cry.

Can you customize your avatar like in MH? There's no question I'll love this when it come stateside, regardless whether it's superior to MHFU or not.

You can. You can change face, hair color, hair style, skin color, custume, and voice...though not much variations to make 'customization' its selling point.

Just a word of advice--don't compare this to MH. No matter how you see it, these games are really different. The only similarity is the 'hunting' and 'customization of the weapon' parts, but nowadays many games are like that. MH focuses on actions & collection element, while GE focuses more on story/Plot and its goal. It's more of an RPG.

Hmn.. spent half a day sample the Japanese demo version. That is how I got here. Anyone has ever tried the demo yet? It was not bad at all, and also gives completely different feeling from the Monster Hunter series. But that was just me.

I've played MHFU for 90+ hours and recently beat the God Eater demo. I've always thought that no other hunting game would beat MH's battle system.

God Eater proved me wrong. After playing the kick-ass demo, I can safely say that the God Eater's high-speed, highly-responsive combat surpassed MHFU's battle system. GE definitely has a lot of potential.

Also, LOCK-ON. This thing alone instantly made God Eater pure win.

Sorry, MHFU. I guess it's time to give you a rest now.

you go killing , GE ain't really like MHFU except they both are rpg action and you can use different weapons , I still like MHF2 , cuz u have better swords than this , also the monsters were more epic :)

MH takes time to get good at, so I don't blame you.

Personally, I don't think either should be compared, but if anything, GE = for beginners, and MH for experienced players.

Eh I wouldn't go that far. I've seen the demo game play in Nico Video (sm8909204). Pretty bad ass but it's basically a variation of Monster Hunter.

Both games are awesome in their own ways.

Not to mention that Monster hunter is as big, if not bigger, than final fantasy in japan. Which will surely draw a huge crowd. Also, It's a lot more like .hack// than final fantasy. The later FF's seem more dark utopian than dystopian
