@alainvi I think the immigration here is a big problem, especially in term of criminality rate. but the problem of France is that, we have today 9.7% of unemployment rate, a strong deficit, and a weak growth rate (1% in 2011) and according to the IMF (0.5% in 2012)
Sarkozy is a pathetic trash! I hope he will lose the election, since he is half Hungarian we should deport him there. France is a country with 65 million inhabitants but with this downgrade our voice will be not heard anymore in EU.

Can someone do an investigation on the executive & advisory heads of S&P, ECB & EU council? The public will love to know how they could be related. They seem to be working in concert to consolidate political & financial power within EU, effectively reducing the executive powers of the heads of the member states. This monetary union is slowly becoming an effective political union which could completely gain control of all member states in the near future.

@22ndWave France and Italy controls most of the luxury fashion market which has actually expanded for more than 5% per annum since the 2008 market crush (while world economy only grew 2.7% and most of the developed countries shrunk). So, it is a mystery why France and Italy are performing so poorly. High tax/ High EI/ High healthcare perhaps?

@candakz They're out of control on spending. An example, Italy has a retirement age that is (i think) under 60!!! When your government is giving you a pension before your 60, something is WRONG. Italy have an illustrious history of being good at art and not much else. Since Rome, it's gone to shit.

@alainvig That needs to be raised. We need retirement age to be at least 70 I think. People are capable of working until 70 unless they are disabled. Come next year, Italians will be retiring at 12 to a government gift of a motorized scooter.

I'd still want the people in our nations to enjoy their lives, but just have to work for it and for the good of the state instead of getting a premature government handout. Criminals, they should be put to labor use. Why waste their potential in prisons when we could put them all to work?

@alainvig Republicans in general make more useful friends to Europe actually. The Democrats want to BE Europe, which is their downfall, but the Republicans show a lot more loyalty to allies and willingness to combat leftism and stop illegal immigration. Republicans are openly negative about Europe's failed economic system which fuels an entitlement society. And they're right. The EU consists largely of countries that cant manage money, strapping themselves to Germany.
