what's the difference btween playing the G chord with the 1st n 2nd string of the 3rd fret pressed and with only the 1st string of 3rd fret pressed? diff people seems to use diff way..but the sound is also diff..help anyone?
Great vid, Rock On! Good info on the five minute sessions, too! I just started doing some lesson video's myself. Your demeaner and quick info pattern are something I will borrow. Nice.
Oh hey! Have you ever tried the X7 Guitar Mind Implant (do a search on google)? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my buddy learned a bunch of great tunes with it.
I bought at guitar last night, and i was told to practice "simple man" cuz it has three chords.....and I can KIND OF do those chords (i guess I have fat fingers)....but to play the chords together (1, 2, 3, 4, ) I have to keep stopping lol
@sabrinastar2005 Yes, there are many variations. Here is one: 1123xx if you don't know how to read tabs it is 1st fret,E string(high)---1st fret,B string---2nd fret,G string---3rd fret,D string. Hope that helps:)
Maybe someone can help me with this..when I play a chord and try to transition to another chord, I'm finding that I'm unintentionally doing a pull off..is there a way to avoid this from happening when I'm moving from chord to chord?
@xkillxmyxhoxgrandmax In ways, it is. Muscle memory applies to typing as much as to guitar; the more you do it, the better you get and the less you have to look down.
Thanks, i have been wanting to play a song for a while but it took me too long too change chords, so i looked a bit stupid, now i can easly move to most chords easly and some without looking, great lesson, keep up the good work!
I think you are a very good teacher, And if people really take the time to listen and take notes they will go far with there guitar playing. So most of all thank you for your time :) Your awesome!
Keep practicing man. Don't worry too much about keeping your hands together as that comes naturally eventually. The dude is absolutely correct about the muscle memory thing and keeping the guitar out to play at all times.
A good exercise for you would to be to transition between all the chords in the Animals song "House of the Rising Sun". The chords are Am, C, D, F Am, E, Am, E. Don't worry about playing the notes individually. I bet you'll get it in a week. :)
awsome!! why aren't there many people watching this important vid? do you study psychology or physics or something? cause you talk like a professional. wouldn't be surprised if you were one ;) i hope my my guitar skills would move one little bit cause my fingers are still like, in the robot-level..
The best bit of advice? Buying a guitar stand, i put the thing it its box and haven't touched it in a year. First thing i need to do is get myself a guitar stand ,that is brilliant advice, thanks mate.
Great advice mate. Tell me, do you cover how to practice chord changes after eighth notes? What I mean is changing chords after the 'and'. I've been practising for months now and still can't quite manage the change in time. Some are easier, ie G major to C major, but others say A major to D major very difficult. Any tips would be appreciated.
its all to get it into your intuition so u will do it automatically. its like something is falling, you automatically try to catch it, without thinking "oh i should catch it, ok lets try". and to get something into your intuition... well, it doesnt matter if you practice a few hours, or a few minutes a day, it should be regular. repeating something regularly will get it into your subconscious mind and work just like your intuition.
thanks a lot, your videos are GREAT and help a lot!
the biggest problem i'm having with chords changing is that my fingers tend to stick to the fretted strings as I'm releasing them to get to the next chord, making the strings ring open (unless I go very slow). how do I avoid that? I know I need to keep practising, which I'm doing, but how do I specifically work on reducing these noises? because so far it's not going away.
anyone? any piece of advice would be highly appreciated :) THANKS!
I am fairly new to guitar and you lessons have been more helpfull that most of my $42/hr lessons and i have quit simply because you are really good and help alot :).thankyou man im loving guitar with no stress because of you man thankyo :P
This is really true. When I started I never believed that my brain would learn where my fingers go for each chord and I'd never need to even contemplate where they should be. Do this method as much as you can and you can think of a chord and be amazed as your fingers fall into position! Something that is important is finger placement, like mentioned. Find places for fingers that you'll never need to move! Or barely any movement at all! This helps so much. Brilliant video.
My bottom of my hand keeps on touching the 1st string.. and it's very frustrating to hear the out-of-tune sound.. is it because my hand are positioned wrongly? i followed him..
I really enjoy your lessons. Of all the videos I have found on you tube, you seem to be the best teacher. I'm the kind of guy you need to explain it to me like I was a 6 year old boy. And that's just what you do. I thank you for kind and warm methods of teaching these simple lessons.
Thanx alot 4 evrything you do! ur videos r tha only ones i watch! ur an awesome teacher! i watch ur videos evryday and i'am becomeing a purty good guitarist i owe my future all to you!(:
I noticed your C chord is 4 fingered, I learned C chord using 3 fingers, the one you find in all chord charts. Is the 4 fingered chord your using the same, and can it be used all the time?
Excellent Job!!! I have been playing about a year now and will take any advice where I can get it, however, rockon is very good with the basics and so easy to follow. My appreciation is extended!!!! Keep em coming! Thank you.
@seexxiigirl96 Those are the frets/fingerings from low E to high E.
The X means he's using his thumb on the Cadd9 to mute the sound of the low E is my guess because if you notice his thumb moves to touch the low E when he's playing it but moves back for the G(3rd fret, 2nd, open, open, 3rd, 3rd)
@helpmedeath it's true...the X means we don't play the string shown....we can mute the string using left hand thumb or another finger, me myself often use my right hand thumb to mute..:) hope that helps
I expected to have at least a quick feel at this. Since I've played the Flute for 3 years now and I can play almost any song without difficulty of finger confusion. But it does get confusing, it feels like I've never had any experience with finger muscle movement. But practice makes perfect.
