@Jcrexxor It's called If Not Now, When? It's supposed to come out July 12th. kinda soon! :) and i'm psyched because they're touring this fall with young the giant. ahh <3
Bands that have an enduring quality are bands that don't look behind but continue to evolve and change (Beatles, U2, Radiohead, etc...). Incubus are in that class. Too bad if some fans can't keep up.
@gearguitarguy Exactly why Metallica's black album sold 15 million copies, Load 9 million copies (both continuing music evolution), and their "return to the roots" St. Anger and Death Magnetic sold 4 millions. Combined.
I remember when Incubus used to be a metal band. But, I really can't say that I'm not in love with this song. No matter what Incubus does, they'll always be good at it, you know? This song is just like the rest of their stuff - amazing.
It's kinda irritating when people say this doesn't "sound like Incubus". Incubus is whatever Incubus wants it to be, not us. These guys are just writing what they feel like writing, and it really shows that they've grown up. I mean I love the old stuff too, but it was so immature and two-dimensional compared to the skills and versatility they have showed in their latest three records. We're witnessing some great talent here; stop hating and appreciate, or GTFO.
Very different, but I like it. The mark of truly brilliant band is that they can change their entire style and still make you enjoy their music. Incubus is a diamond in the rough, and I think just about everyone will agree that it is very, very good to have them back.
A life time of inspiration and this band is still going strong. There are times in life when only their words and lyrics have helped me to keep going. Thats pretty powerful. Eternally grateful for their creative energy and willingness to share the brilliance with their fans. This song came at a perfect time. Excited to see them live for the 20th time. :) ENJOY INCUBUS.
Wow, this is not good. It has nothing to do with being main stream or not as complex as their earlier material. Some of their most popular stuff (Drive, Pardon Me) is great, so i don't base my opinion on accessibility. It does have to do with the song being bland, uninspired, boring and incredibly generic though.
It's alright, catchy vocals and well sung as always but it lacks any edge and I feel like I've heard it a 100 times before. I guess we've just come to expect so much from Incubus that it's disappointing to hear this poppy sound from them, they had a great run, it was never gonna last forever!
@IllegalsLeave yea me too im think i prefer the old incubus they do have an unique sound...they just seem happy to blend in the pop industry now they are not bringing anything new...: <
@IllegalsLeave you are entitled to your opinion sir, but please, show us something YOU have produced that can compare to this song, or anything they have ever produced. PLEASE PLEASE show us....don't cut down their evolution as a group because it does not suit your personal tastes. douche bag.
They way Incubus has evolved throughout their musical career is why I find them so amazing. Every album brings something new. With most bands you get the same thing album after album. From what I've heard from this new album, things haven't changed. Thank you Incubus! For being the soundtrack to my life. Evolving and maturing with me. If any of you who read this feel they way I do about Incubus and haven't already, check out Brandon Boyd's solo album. Wild trapeze. Amazing!
Not the band I grew up loving. These new soft mellow songs are OK I guess, nothing great. But on the bright side, Incubus says they never make the same album twice so their next album might be death metal!
To be quite honest, I differ from most people with the fact that I love the direction they have been heading. I wasn't a huge fan of Fungus Amungous or SCIENCE, but I can't stop listening to Morning View and Make Yourself. The mellowness of the past couple albums have been excellent in my mind, and I expect the same from "If Not Now, When?"
fungus amongus was great, SCIENCE was not fungus amongus, but still great. Make Yourself was not SCIENCE, but it was still great. Morning View was not Make Yourself, but it was still great. A Crow Left of The Murder was not Morning View, but it was still great. This is not A crow Left of The Murder but from what i have heard its still great :) they cant just keep rehasing 'Pardon me' and 'wish you were here'.
Incubus from Fungus Amongus all the way through to now has been an evolution in itself...i've loved following this through from the day i heard a certain shade of green...pure evolution to a refined form of intelligently orchestrated compositions. I love this band.
Everyone is going to hate this album. And as far as I'm concerned, they can screw themselves. It's an absolutely beautiful album front to back. Been on repeat at work for a month. Absolutely love it. The title track will blow you away.

No no no... I don't like this song. Lyrics are deep but it just doesn't feel like Incubus :( hopefully this is the worst song on the album and "Adolescents" is the second worst. That song was actually good though lol

Definitely different from their previous works. Personally, i love hearing their new songs because they show how flexible they can truly be. I don't get why people have to hate on them for venturing out into new styles. They've proven time after time that no matter what genre they play, the quality and passion stay the same. Rock on, Incubus. Can't wait to see you on the 28th. \m/
This is different and new, I LIKE IT. Koodos to all the retards on here thinking they are cool dissing and saying a bad word about incubus. Think just because you can diss a great band to fulfill your own satisfaction? That's just sad on your part realistically.

Rock on Incubus, I will see yall Sept. 11th @ Merriwether Post!
@gofastgokart99 Disagree. You don't have to love everything a band does. I'm a die hard fan and enjoy most of their songs, but several I think are subpar, including several from the new album like Thieves and Tomorrow's Food. However, If Not Now, When? (song) and In The Company of Wolves are brilliant. I give Incubus props for continually evolving. I'm sure they've lost many fans through the year by constantly changing their sound, but also have probably gained many in the process.
loving this album so far, for me its not about the genre of the music so much as just listening to Brandons voice with any kind of music behind it lol, but theve ALLWAYS had a bit of bluesy/funkyness to them which is all i need :)
i love how people wish for the old incubus. But isn't that the point of making music, to create new and new and different things instead of making the same thing over and over?
that's what's so amazing about Incubus, everyone has their favourite album!
for me, Make Yourself will never ever be topped, and A Crow... is my least favourite Incubus album (if there is such a thing) They are all so good in their own way.
As guitarshredder68 said, they evolve so much between each album that it will take time for you to appreciate exactly how good the album is!
I lllvoe Incubus I always will and brandon boyd is oe of the best singers of all time but I have to say the older edgier Incubus is so much better then the newer stuff, I truly wish that they would atleast sometimes go back to have some songs be a bit harder
I've gotten the album early, It's definitely different from anything they've done before. I'm someone who can appreciate different genres. I have to say I really love this album. There's only one song on it I really don't like(the title song "If not now, when?") and the rest is pretty good. Isadore, defiance and in the company of the wolves(this song sounds like comfortably numb by Pink Floyd) are my favorites off it. It's a diverse album, individual songs sound very different from each other.
Boyd had referred to "If Not Now, When?" to have a "very particularly warm musical tone to it" - "Promises, Promises" certainly is a reflection and a justification to that sentiment. I'm hoping "If Not Now, When?", is their best album since "A Crow Left of the Murder..."; it has to be. "Light Grenades" although possessed some of their best individual work/songs: "Dig", "Love Hurts", "Anna Molly", and "Pendulous Threads". Yet their best work in my opinion is "A Crow", it's a masterpiece.
When I heard this album coming out, I was sooooooo happy. I listened to this song, was like "hmmm...", listened to it again, was like "this is kind of awesome", listened to it again, jizzed. This album is gonna be sick. I cannot wait. Incubus forever.
Incubus is one of those bands with each album it takes a while to like. But this is different from anything they've done. It's like..Alternative. Definitely away from Science and Fungus Amongus. But hey, it's not bad by any means.
People actually dislike this? How is disliking something so beautiful possible people? This song is awesome. An artist who changes will never be boring and Incubus is always entertaining because of this.
The lyrics are intelligent and the melody genius! Already listening to this song again and again!
Brandon is an incredible artist with an amazing voice that stops me in my tracks wherever I hear any of his music.... I cant wait for this album to be released in New Zealand
If you want to listen to a band where all the songs and albums sound the same go listen to Breaking Benjamin or Rise Against. Then maybe when you grow up you can simply ENJOY INCUBUS
hey now, its not necessary to dis some perfectly good bands for the sake of promoting anouther. Let's leave all that out and focus on the simply divine band at hand, without mentioning others :3
@IllegalsLeave Just because you have a period every once in a while doesn't mean every guy does, you should have that checked out with a doctor immediately, there might be a feminine confusion in your organs , just saying ;)
@IllegalsLeave Just because you have a period every once in a while doesn't mean every guy does, you should have that checked out with a doctor immediately, there might be a confusion in your organs with women, just saying ;)
It's very to criticize an artist who has worked hard to make music throughout the years and has dropped sweat on countless stages, as far as I'm concerned, Brandon is one of the most inspiring singers I've ever listened to, so all those ignorant people should just lock their comments up and listen to the song and learn from it.
@IllegalsLeave o so posting on a youtube video will "bring the incubus we know and love back" no you dont know shit about music. if you dont like the song then shut the fuck up about it and get on with your life incubus dosnt give a shit about what you want or what you think the majority of their fans like this shit so move the fuck on to whatever you find enjoyable
@schobson You need to learn to live with the fact that the band are maturing, and obviously leaving people like you behind. If your a true fan you'll always appreciate their music no matter how much it changes. Incubus are decent and make music for their fans, not for money. So respect them! Otherwise I spit on you.
@schobson your a child from the uk your teeth have clearly grown backwards and messed up your ability to hear correctly maybe someday you will get that fixed
@IllegalsLeave would you do us a favour and leave this world? that would be tops cunt. everyone else here likes this song. I guess it's a song written for the intelligent people of the world. So i sort of understand why you don't like it.
Incubus has CHANGED a lot throughout the years and no matter what kind of music they write, I'll respect that creation because it is they who have influenced my musical background. I LOVE THEM TILL THE DAY I DIE.
its different but still good, still gotta get used to the new sound but incubus is an amazing band, remind me of the summer times of chillin with my friends when everything was cool
I liked the song when i first heard it, but I was still a little eh on it. But about an hour later, the song randomly popped back into my head and now I'm coming back to listen again. I really like this song. It's relaxing.
Great song. Listening to this song and Adolescence, the album might end up sounding similar to Morning View. While that will sell records, I've enjoyed listening to Incubus evolve their sound over their career and still sound amazing. Even the few new songs released on Monuments and Melodies displayed a vibrant progression in their music.
I love Incubus and I'm hoping their new album, "If Not Now, When?", is another successful chapter in a brilliant career.
Incubus is one of my favorite all time bands but i feel like this song is just them being lazy. When they were a few kids in high school working their asses off to get where they are today, music like this wouldn't slide for them. I really hope they recatch that fire they had when they were young.
Change is a good thing and for those of you that keep hating on them for changing you must not have ever been true fans. "Mike Einziger will be the first person to tell you that his band have always pushed the limits and changed their identity—and that always hasn’t been such a good thing. If Not Now, When? blends acoustic guitars with strings, Mellotrons, Einziger’s eclectic sense of orchestration, and some lofty and heart-drench vocals from singer Brandon Boyd."
Fed up with people who think it's their right to slam a band for evolving. Anyone who is thick enough to consider their opinion as the 'be all and end all' needs to spend more time studying and discovering what music is. None of our favourite artists owe us anything and if you don't like the direction, write your own
@kenraq2000 maaaaan you so crazy. My opinion is obviously the only one that matter dawg! fo real erybody need to make music for me and no one else. Yall are just figments of my imagination anyway.
lolitarocks.... crow left of the murder is a brilliant album!! and so are all the others!! if it takes you 2years to like something, maybe you should listen to it more often OR stop listening with your mind and rather listen with your heart!
there are some pretty good covers in the contest, but It's damn near Impossible to sing better than Brandon Boyd. He is literally one of the most talented singers period. If you really follow Incubus it's easy to tell that he is SO amazing, ESPECIALLY live. If you like other styles more, that's perfectly fine :) I just love the rare honesty that he brings. Live @ Red Rocks is the best live performance I've ever seen. Honestly a lot of singers are over rated, like the singer of Alterbridge :/
No band stays the exact same forever. After a while, a lot of fans start to become uninterested because they have nothing to look forward to but the same old stuff. I think it's important for a band to change it's sound every once in a while if that's what they wish to do. After all, it is their music. I feel that it's important to also pay attention to why the song was written in the first place. The message in the song is just as important as the instrumentals. I look forward to the new album.
I don't expect they stay exactly the same forever but this is totally different and not in a good way, from their other songs. You can only say that this is an Incubus song because of Brandon's marvellous voice. At least this song has lyrics that can be considered beautiful because Adolescents is a complete disaster. I'm a big fan of Incubus but this doesn't mean that I am deaf and I have to say that every song that they release is incredible amazing. I'm not sure I want to hear the whole album.
@lolitarocks like every other incubus album, it takes 10 listens of the whole album to really appreciate it. I'm not into this album that much yet but I know I will be. I used to hate light grenades but now I love that album. I thought a crow left of the murder was a disaster but now thats probably my favorite album. just give it time. they change so much every album that its hard to like it right away.
@guitarshredder68 whaaaaaaa? A Crow Left Of The Murder... Is sucha great album lol, they really showed their musical talents off in that album, like Sick Sad Little World has Mike's best solo ever, or one of his best. Well at least it's your favorite now, and you still love them, that's all that counts lol.
@guitarshredder68 You're right; there's a huge learning curve. I had a hard time accepting morning view because it was their most commercial endeavor ever, but I came to appreciate it as an amazing easy-to-listen rock/pop that made a huge contribution to those years' mainstream and alternative music. Same thing with ACLOTM when they began to explore more organic/dirty sounds. I think incubus is a great band because it gives the listener that opportunity to like/dislike/process new music.
♥ i saw this live at Incubus Headquarters.

loving this album so far, for me its not about the genre of the music so much as just listening to Brandons voice with any kind of music behind it lol, but theve ALLWAYS had a bit of bluesy/funkyness to them which is all i need :)
Hutchino46 8 months ago
i love how people wish for the old incubus.

As guitarshredder68 said, they evolve so much between each album that it will take time for you to appreciate exactly how good the album is!
frenchyfrenchy1892 8 months ago

This Album would have been good as his second solo album, but who cares fuckin awesome
SoulDemon1000 8 months ago
Boyd had referred to "If Not Now, When?" to have a "very particularly warm musical tone to it" - "Promises, Promises" certainly is a reflection and a justification to that sentiment. I'm hoping "If Not Now, When?", is their best album since "A Crow Left of the Murder..."; it has to be. "Light Grenades" although possessed some of their best individual work/songs: "Dig", "Love Hurts", "Anna Molly", and "Pendulous Threads". Yet their best work in my opinion is "A Crow", it's a masterpiece.

@JesusCristo2002 That's all about the listener, I myself found A crow... their most boring album and loved the others.

Incubus is one of those bands with each album it takes a while to like. But this is different from anything they've done. It's like..Alternative. Definitely away from Science and Fungus Amongus. But hey, it's not bad by any means.
Kayrotsu 8 months ago
People actually dislike this? How is disliking something so beautiful possible people? This song is awesome. An artist who changes will never be boring and Incubus is always entertaining because of this.
The lyrics are intelligent and the melody genius! Already listening to this song again and again!

It's very to criticize an artist who has worked hard to make music throughout the years and has dropped sweat on countless stages, as far as I'm concerned, Brandon is one of the most inspiring singers I've ever listened to, so all those ignorant people should just lock their comments up and listen to the song and learn from it.

schobson 8 months ago
@schobson You need to learn to live with the fact that the band are maturing, and obviously leaving people like you behind. If your a true fan you'll always appreciate their music no matter how much it changes. Incubus are decent and make music for their fans, not for money. So respect them! Otherwise I spit on you.

I liked the song when i first heard it, but I was still a little eh on it. But about an hour later, the song randomly popped back into my head and now I'm coming back to listen again. I really like this song. It's relaxing.
alexmusteatpie2 8 months ago
CBusHome 8 months ago
Incubus is one of my favorite all time bands but i feel like this song is just them being lazy. When they were a few kids in high school working their asses off to get where they are today, music like this wouldn't slide for them. I really hope they recatch that fire they had when they were young.
AllThingsGenius 8 months ago
@AllThingsGenius "Pardon Me" and "Wish you were here" I think those songs are the midst of the fire.

ThePantomimer 8 months ago 2
Fed up with people who think it's their right to slam a band for evolving. Anyone who is thick enough to consider their opinion as the 'be all and end all' needs to spend more time studying and discovering what music is. None of our favourite artists owe us anything and if you don't like the direction, write your own
kenraq2000 8 months ago 2

there are some pretty good covers in the contest, but It's damn near Impossible to sing better than Brandon Boyd. Honestly a lot of singers are over rated, like the singer of Alterbridge :/

southerngirl1976 8 months ago
No band stays the exact same forever. After a while, a lot of fans start to become uninterested because they have nothing to look forward to but the same old stuff. I think it's important for a band to change it's sound every once in a while if that's what they wish to do. After all, it is their music. I feel that it's important to also pay attention to why the song was written in the first place. The message in the song is just as important as the instrumentals. I look forward to the new album.

Certainly makes me melt
sweetacapella 8 months ago
I don't expect they stay exactly the same forever but this is totally different and not in a good way, from their other songs. You can only say that this is an Incubus song because of Brandon's marvellous voice. At least this song has lyrics that can be considered beautiful because Adolescents is a complete disaster. I'm a big fan of Incubus but this doesn't mean that I am deaf and I have to say that every song that they release is incredible amazing. I'm not sure I want to hear the whole album.
lolitarocks 8 months ago
@lolitarocks like every other incubus album, it takes 10 listens of the whole album to really appreciate it. I'm not into this album that much yet but I know I will be. I used to hate light grenades but now I love that album. I thought a crow left of the murder was a disaster but now thats probably my favorite album. just give it time. they change so much every album that its hard to like it right away.
guitarshredder68 8 months ago 75
@guitarshredder68 whaaaaaaa? A Crow Left Of The Murder... Is sucha great album lol, they really showed their musical talents off in that album, like Sick Sad Little World has Mike's best solo ever, or one of his best. Well at least it's your favorite now, and you still love them, that's all that counts lol.
NoPainNoGain2393 8 months ago
@guitarshredder68 You're right; there's a huge learning curve. I had a hard time accepting morning view because it was their most commercial endeavor ever, but I came to appreciate it as an amazing easy-to-listen rock/pop that made a huge contribution to those years' mainstream and alternative music. Same thing with ACLOTM when they began to explore more organic/dirty sounds. I think incubus is a great band because it gives the listener that opportunity to like/dislike/process new music.
