  • I have a cx racing turbo and its pretty clean and nicely done, only thing i dont agree on is the fact that the compressor blades were slightly dinged.. so i took my dremel and sharpened them up really nice and make it alot more smooth. my issue is when i was taking it apart, i broke the shaft and now i cant find one anywhere.. does anyone know where i can get a t3/t4 hybrid turbine ?

  • @1994toyotasupra Dumbass. Just goes to show you money can buy you a supra but not brains. Lmao. Fail.

  • @LEterribleONE are you serious ? its my first time with experience with a turbo.. just because i completely forgot it was reverse thread doesnt mean im a dumbass.. it was a fail yes.. but im not a dumbass.. Also the supra wasnt expensive ... around 10k ... you fail for the comment your just posted.

  • hot side, cold side... does anyone remember the McDLT?

  • Hey the ground nut is for balancing. Once the bolt is losened the turbo must be rebalanced even after a rebuild. You should not try to rebuild this. It would be cheaper to buy a new one than pay to balance it again.

  • If you are still wondering, the big bronze part at 4:45 in the video is part of the thrust bearing assembly. Good video, nice to see the insides of these once in a while.

  • @jacebigelow Ahehe, yup, figured that out a few minuets after this video P:

Are they supposed to be a LOOSE fit around the journal? Or bearing-tight?

  • @briggsandclones Probably nothing sloppy. I would say tight clearance, but still needs a couple thousandths of an inch in order to move without galling. You are 100% correct in "some" radial play is ok, and End-play needs to be ZERO tolerance. I have never end-play that bad !!! I would guess this other turbo was abused due to lack of oil pressure. Someone did not allow adequate warm up, followed by HOT shutdowns. Or wrong viscosity, or just low pressure. Continued....

  • @jacebigelow Lastly, check the tips of the Exhaust Turbine wheel, and see if the tips of the blades are melted at all. If they are melted away a little bit, that's how you know the person had a LEAN, hot running engine, and they pushed the turbo too hard. I also have a new K03 "M12" turbo that i got from eBay. It's replacing an old Audi turbo that i have on a garden tractor, and it's going to have it's own separate stand-alone oil system; not shared with the engine. This is for several reasons.

  • Definitely not melted, but lightly bent (enough to be noticed while doing a visual).

How are you doing this standalone oil system o.O? Is it really worth it? Mechanical or electric pump working the flow?

  • Fins were bent, enough to been via visual inspection. Is it going to be run by a mechanical/electrical pump? O: Sounds badass. A great idea...:)

  • wat was this on

  • idinnao

  • @briggsandclones looks like my Mercedes turbo

  • that was run with no oil for shure.

  • if i ever get a ebay turbo im going to upgrade to quality bearings before i use it

  • Actually, rumours are that eBay turbos, albeit the shitty FIRST "generation" ones (the ones that were literally epoxied together), the newer ones are all cast and work great IMO.

On with it though, rumors are that the eBay turbos actually use Garrett internals. Bearings, thrust bearings, ect.

A guy thought the same as you... bought a rebuild kit. Found the same things inside, lol.

  • You know how that happened... Bearing failure... check the bearings if its missing a ball bearing well thats what happened... It happens bro...

  • Nope, both are still there.
