  • I had the spinner. It was tiny but ACE!!

  • 8p then. A copy with the original space spinner will set you back several hundred quid on ebay these days. In fact it's the spinner that increases the value of the comic astronomically. The comic on its own can be bought for £30 to £40.

  • I always like 60's and 70s peoples visons of the 2000s

  • 2000ad Comic and Anne from the Famous Five Welcome to my childhood.

  • I bought it! Before this comic I read The Buster. What a change it was. It was incredibly cool, had genuine storylines and proper violence. Please don't laugh out loud at our meagre pleasures from the past. :-)

  • @RobertHartlepool

Too right! This was my first issue of 2000ad too! I spent the whole summer playing with that spinner too!

Tell me where you get that much fun for 8p now in 2010?!!

    Cheers, Mark (UK).

  • 1977 lol

  • Does anybody know if Crisis or Deadline ran TV adverts? You'd think they would, in the post-Watchmen boom.

  • 8p !!!!!!! i don't remember having that much

  • Boragg Vor thrigg Earthlings. I had Every copy from number 2 and the bionic decals too.

Now moved from UK and live in California, I was so suprised to see the advert, i have not seen that since I was a teeneager and remember that so vividly, thanks alot mate.

  • I think you're on your own there with that one Gaslett. Yea, the 2000AD Dan Dare was good, but it wasn't THAT good. The original Eagle Dan Dan was by far superior to any that came after it. The scripts, artwork by Frank Hampson, Keith Watson, Frank Bellamy and the rest of the Eagle team were and still are unsurpassed. The 'punk' Dan was cool for the late 70's but that was just it, a fad.

Non the less, I still have every copy of 2000AD to date and enjoyed Dave Gibbons take on it immensely.

  • No sorry I don't think I'm on my own! Belardenelli's artwork is far more superior to Hampson's. Hampson is more akin to Boy's Own where Belardenelli's work is like Titian or Michelangelo - Divine. The Eagle Dan Dare is stuck in a 50's boy scout time zone. The 82 relauch of Eagle wasa joke. I'll keep my memories thank you and you can keep yours.

  • this is great !!! i remember it ! there was another advert with Tharg and Dan Dare/Monday flying through glass tubes on a planet moon surface as well

2000ad's Dan Dare was so much better than that Eagle version. It was PUNK!!!

  • Borag Thungg Earthlets! Wicked Tharg cartoon even though is short we need some animated 2000ad adventures imagine that!

  • Brilliant! I hadn't realised this advert even existed! Who'd have thought Tharg was so posh?

  • WOW! Where did you find this? I'm a massive fan of the comic and have collected it from my childhood. I've got that issue, number one, minus the space-spinner. Ahh memories!

  • My god! A genuine Thargian space spinner absolutely free! Zarjaz! When's it out?
