As a retired flight attendant with a career of almost 40 years, I can honestly say I wouldn't change a thing. I am so grateful for the best possible lifestyle and friendships that are worth everything to me.
I wouldn't want their job, I feel for them. Dealing with all those fat, lazy, idiots who think the world revolves around them. I'd rather deploy again to Afghanistan....
@Pienvde You are a flight attendant? That's pretty awesome. I'm trying to become a flight attendant myself I have the training I just cant get a job. What airline do you work for?
@CurlyFries120 From 2000-2003 I used to work for Martinair Holland, which is the airline shown in the video. They will cease to excist this very year. From 2003 till 2007 I worked as a flight attend for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. I still work for them, at their ICT department. I wish you good luck in achieving your goal to became a flight attendant, never stop trying!
@Pienvde I work two jobs seven days a week I'm very aware of what hard work is. I walk and stand on the job all day at one job lifting heavy objects working with the public. Waahhhhh a flight attendant works 14 days a month and I'm suppose to cry for you. Working as a stewardess is voluntary, if you don't like your job you can quit.
@beatricebordercollie You try working 15 hours a day, with only 4 hours of sleep between flights, and being away from your family from anywhere from 15-20 days a month. I'd like to see you in the shoes of a flight attendant. you have to deal with rude passengers, turbulence, the possibility of an emergency, and so many other possibilities. your occupation is as voluntary as any flight attendants. you're an idiot who has NO idea what you're talking about. go lift things it's all your good for.
@jellydrix It may be a hard job but millions of women around the world would give their right arm to serve drinks on board an air plane as a flight attendant.
@beatricebordercollie Did you apply to be a flight attendant and get knocked back?? Cos you seem to have a major chip on your shoulder sweet cheeks!! You are horrible!!

Sick of glorified waitress/waiters complaining about a job they took in customer service. Since most flights don't have emergency landings that is what you are. Get over it you are replaceable.
@mrjeremyhansen9988 Hello, I think you have got mixed up. I am a flight attendant I know the role, I know how hard it is. I just find it totaly offensive when someone does not give us crew the respect we deserve. I feel there has been a criss cross of words here. However I love peopel and enjoy looking after my passengers. I would never ever be rude to a customer. Period.
@travelgirl2002 HII iam 15 iam iam going to college i want to be an air hostess what do i have to study to become one and how much do you get paid cuz people say u get low money please can you help answering my question many thanks =]
@9991113 Hello!! You can pretty much study anything in college. They will be glad that you have your college degree. What helps is if you know another language. The base pay started off @ $20.00 an hour. What really helped was incidental pay that we got. From the time that you clocked in to the time that you clocked out 4 days later you were making money even when you weren't working. You got paid while you were sightseeing on your layover and while sleeping in the hotel room.
@9991113 That's great!! I don't know how much you'll earn. It depends upon the airline. It should be enough to live on if you don't have many expenses! Good luck!
@AubreyMan2012 I certainely wouldn't call it a loser job, since you travel the whole world for free and are allowed to stay at the coolest places. When you work in an office you don't get anywhere.
@Pienvde RATFLMAO @ YOU!!! After more than 25 years as a Flight Director (also known as an In-Charge), I can tell you you're full of shit! We don't "travel the world for free". Often times we are not in any one place long enough to even look around. How do you think you would feel after a 15 hour day telling pricks to leave you alone? Staying in flea bag hostels is NOT as glamourous as you think. I do my job because it is a decent income but if I went back 25 years, I'd probably do a rethink!
@cjeb2003 First of all, I'm not used to cabin crew using expressions like "you're full of xxx". Maybe it says something about your airline hiring people who can't control their language. Which makes me come to my second point: The airlines I've worked for and still work for have very good working conditions. We stayed at Hilton, Sheraton etc. always at 5* hotels with a good amount of daily allowance to spend on food etc.
@cjeb2003 As a flight attendant I was abled to lead a very good life. Compared to an office job it's way luxurious, but you're probably working for an American airline and I admit I wouldn't work for them, but that doesn't make it right to judge me having had the greatest time of my life!
What airline are you working for? I'm American... And I think we have great airlines. It depends on which one. Delta is awesome, as well as Contenintal. Anyway, can flight attendants work internationally? In 2012 I'm going to Russia as an exchange student for a year (I'll come back 17). I'll leave again in 2014 to help my half-sister (who is pure Russian and lives in Sochi) for the olympics. I'm thinking of staying there and doing community college for 2 years, then working for a
Russian airline as a F/A for 4 years after that. I want to finish my 6 year degree online, so would it be possible to as a F/A? Can I bring a laptop and do college online as a F/A? If I can, then I'll finish at 24, probably work as a flight attendant for another year, then work with my sister at a luxury hotel in Sochi, trying to work my way up as manager.I really want to become a F/A,but I can't see myself being 30+, or maybe just 40+ with that job.
I would just HATE this job! I don't care how many countries I get to visit- it's not worth it! Passengers are too rude and disgusting and I would not stand for it! Flight attendants are really strong and well trained to tolerate the many assholes that they encounter on their flights! Safe travel flight crew!!!
People this is soooo funny, youtube member: atfatw has taken it uppon himself to send insulting and disturbing hate messages to me because I have stood up for the ranks of cabin crew. Isn;t it pathetic that someone has to do this to make you say "Do you know what, your right" He must have very small genitals. Anywya this airline is Martinair of Holland and a fantastic video!
He even put hate messages on my youtube page. Maybe he was turned down by a flight attendant once or maybe he didn't become the pilote he always wanted to be.
Fantastic video, thanks for posting :) .I agree, atfatw is probably just jealous about his own failures. may I ask, to become a flight attendant, is it compulsary to go through a travel and tourism course at collage, or can you apply straight after high school? thanks :)
@ryonni123 It depends on where you live, but normally a specific course on tourism is not necessary. In the Netherlands you need to have been to a specific level of high school. I believe that it's the same as college in the US. A lot of Dutch flight attendants studied at University as well.
atfatw : Well, maybe thats what it takes for you to be a flight attendant. But infact it takes a hell of alot of training to look after people. We dont just serve meals or look good. We are there for medical emergencys. We are there for security. If you are hijacked, you woudl shit your pants, however we have to deal with it and deal with it we do! We work long hours, we get tired, we get people liek you who are ignorant bimbos who clearly know sweet fa!

I have some questions about psychology:
(1) Why do people want to be a flight attendants?
(2) Why do jobs related to aviation considered to be more professional?
(3) Why do we love being in the sky?
(4) How does being a flight attentdent benefit to our personal life?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)
