Why would he voluntarily give up the show hes been doing for the past 17 years. The execs were stupid and decided they wanted a fresh face even though leno had given them the best ratings and always outdid all his competition.second I do honestly think Conan is a good guy and a good sport about the whole situation, but he was just not that funny.

He would never intentionally want to hurt Conan, but he was put in the position where he had a lose-lose situation. If he would have turned down the tonight show he would have also lost his 10:30 show to bad ratings, which by the way had better ratings than when he was on the tonight show.

Which turned both of their audiences against Jay. So yes, jay did kick Conan out of the Tonight show, but did that really hurt Conan. i mean he got what $30 million to leave and he got another show just 30 minutes before the tonight show, so I doubt that really affected him.
