i realize this is an ex-conrail unit and all, but i wouldnt be at all suprised if this is actually a new RS3L, the way it sounds so perfect. CSX has been ordering those and RS5Ts lately due to all the thefts of K5LAs from people who want train horns on their cars.
Thanks very much, James! It's very possible. What time do you think it ran through the Princeton/Evansville area? I filmed this one not too far from Crawfordsville. Is Princeton/Evansville north or south of Crawfordsville?
Thanks very much! Yeah, from Roachdale to Lagoda, the track looked pretty bad. In a lot of spots, the cars were rocking back and forth. At a few points, I was surprised that they didn't fall off the track.
Hey, that's my ol'running line, train out of Terre Haute for an elevator north and back, I can almost bet Rickie was at the throttle this fine day, beings he's a south pool man and the conductor who's to say. The mighty Monon still puts down some serious railroading, thank-you so very much for posting my ol'pounding grounds, go CSX go!!!
Thanks very much, James! That's very cool that it's the line you run on. I met the crew while they were tying the train down in the siding at Lindon and they were really nice people. I agree 100% that the Monon has some serious railroading. It's the way railroading should be. Jointed rail, semaphores, doesn't get much better than that!
nedless to say thats the best leslie rs3l being honked today. especially lucky in conrail paint. and ya got to here so much of it. id sure like to see something like that.i bet it would be more fun to experiance than to watch on youtube. i saw BNSF 914 pulling a manifest up the gooseneck with an orange dash9. its paint was an great shape. the best was at the front of the yard. BNSF warbonts in the 900s and BNSF H2 879 had a mixed frieght. could not film them cuz it was about dark and stuff.
Thankfully, this was a location with a lot of crossings. The engineer certainly gave a lot of noise for all of them. Seeing it on video just doesn't do it justice. Nice catches that you got also! Did the leaders have Leslies?
so very exquisite..iu dont know how to get this train audio off tube and onto my computer?how?thanks for vid, melvin

I guarantee you that the engineer wouldn't be having quite a horn show with a run-of-the-mill K5LA.

Great video and awesome horn! Looks like some bad track; there's plenty of rocking action on those hoppers.

i dont know. couldnt watch them go through . it was snowing and almost dark out

I'm going to guess that they have Leslies. It is possible that they were given K3LA's, though.
