  • It's a good thing the Japanese felt both moved and saddened by Mishima's actions. It shows that they haven't fully sold themselves out to foreign influence, which has always been one of my biggest fears for the country.

Japan has a rich history and a culture full of unique traditions. The last thing I and a great deal of others want is for the country to become a carbon copy of the U.S.A.

  • Great documentary of the Samurai! I'm satisfied. Great story. Thank you. I have pros and cons but I'll keep them with me.

  • They are not samurai but soldiers.

  • Fuck what happened to the history channel!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ThePlaidFace Wait... what happened to the History channel ??

  • @wwwggxcom They went from kick ass documentaries like these to shows about fucking loggers and truckers.

  • STGs (videogames) are more like the samurai spirit in many ways - precise, bullet-hell often, single-minded, and lots of them very exclusive and difficult to import. and suiciding your ship is also often an integral part of gameplay.

*will be prosecuted to the full extent of the jam*

  • And now, due to the Fukushima, Japan is dead.

  • YUKIO MY BOY!

  • wow, i cant see a huge group english people doing that, self sacrafice in the name of deep morals. japanese people, give yall props

  • 1/6 scale samurai katanas!

  • Video game creators: *cough* Creative Assembly *cough*

  • @GermanConquistador08 This is history, not some game..-.-

  • @Emm4nU3l93 Ok, explaination: The narration said that the samurai has continued to inspire movie-makers and video game creators. *cough* Creative Assembly who made the Total War series which puts players in unique historical perspective, two of their games involving Shoguno Japan during the Age at the Country at war. get it now?

  • @GermanConquistador08 again, this is history, not some game. Get it now? Go to a pharmacy if you cough to much. Go drink some coughsirop or something...

  • @Emm4nU3l93 "again, this is history, not some game" -Clearly you're not a video game fan. The series is possibly one of the most historically accurate series in the world of gaming and introduces a much wider audience to Japanese culture and the life of the Age of the Country at war more so than any documentary. And the *cough cough* is a joke, ment to point out something awkward or an inside joke. Just calm down man, I'm a fan of history too but you've got to enjoy it.

  • @infernogloria This is a Samurai History video so... yeah you got the wrong video bro

  • @infernogloria then you probably hate almost any other army too?

  • of course we can't forget them there awsome

  • I aboslutely enjoy watching white men made videos talking about japanese men.

Everything is so true and real.

Samurais dont go into suicide mission.s They calculate the win chance and then charge. Don't talk sh!t like a girl about men more athletic than you.

    Thank you.

  • they shold of uesded way of the samurai

  • so the americans used the atomic bomb as a last resort because their hearts had been conquered by fear.

  • i think the americans felt they where going to lose the war because the japanese were more ruthless and didnt care about dying , they actually wanted to die, so america being the only country with the atomic bomb werent scared to use it because they feared no retaliation with a weapon of equal potential for destruction. My point is the americans were scared because the japanese were too violent

  • @98kemik I agree, a nation with that kind of a spirit in fighting cannot be defeated by conventional means like others.

  • @98kemik Rubbish. Japan was already defeated when the Americans dropped the bomb. They were ready to invade Japan herself. The Americans and her allies had already taken back all the land Japan had conquered. Yamamoto himself said before Pearl Harbour that all Japan was doing was waking a sleeping giant in America. And he was right.

  • blah...samurai are cool and all but their just swords for higher or so thats what the history books tell us. thier no different from every other assassin warrior in other cultures. most warriors, no mater were your from, are fearless and etc. same thing as the japanese with the rest of the world.

hn... i dont know if i want to be a samurai back then... maybe some other warrior.

  • then playstation came out....then nerds started to relate everything to reality...

  • Orochi will change the history of samurai

  • It interests me that during these centuries of peace and, sort of prosperity, the thought of going out to conquer more land, which was before always valued highly (be it, Japanese land) seemed never to have been seriously considered.

  • @murmurrrr

They did consider it, even tried it. Search 'Japanese invasions of Korea (1592–1598)' on wikipedia

  • Just ignore the "anti-samurai" they should be Chinese or Korean people criticize everything related to japan in english. They are still detesting japanese because of what they did to Asia during the second world war. But there is no relation btw those two, right? They are so stubborn thing.

  • I hate white people... and yes I'm white. We ruined Japanese culture and anyone that doesn't agree with that is an ignorant pig. I've always thought that a good path for me to follow would be to join the army, but that doesn't (atleast to me) cover what I want to achieve in life. Samurai are the closest warriors I can think of that fit what I want to be, I want to serve a purpose, while living life to it's fullest, and show that I am a force to be reckoned with. My greatest achievement.

  • @EbonOcelot samurais also raped some of the peasents and treated them poorly. Thats how ninjas started, a rebellion

  • @pillsburyswag Yea, so? Many countries have rape, rape has been around for a very long time. Not all people are rapists right? So not all Samurai were rapists. And treating people badly has also been around for a long time, not all people are ass holes right? So not all samurai were ass holes. Every large group has some kinks in their chain, but it's still a chain. Way to be pessimistic.

  • @pillsburyswag

You should read about Europe medieval age where for a long time ruled so called 'first night rule" when knight to whom belong a village with freshly married couple could come and take the bride for a "after wedding night" and no one (especially groom) have right to oppose, so in other word this was law sanctioned rape and there was actually real minority among Europe knights which didn't "enforced" such right and that's why Samurajs werent much different in that field.

  • @EbonOcelot We? Are you stupid? I don't recall my ancestors ever ruining a foreign culture.

  • @Lachausis Then you'd better do some research. Every culture has been afflicted by another culture, no matter how outside the box it is, if you look hard enough you'll find something.

  • I trained in kendo, judo and iaido.and I'm not Japanese,I'm learned the way of the sword for almost 8 years...for me I respect Japanese for they code of life and their discipline..they are amazing people

even I'm not Japanese but in my heart I want to live as Samurai, maybe it's sound old school and old fashioned but I feel better live in this way.Much better than my past,it changed me alot from hot-tempered,lazy person and selfish human..Bushido totally change my life..is not about war,it's heart

  • @NazrulSyah you have totaly right

  • @NazrulSyah More like belly. ;)

  • @NazrulSyah I'm neither Japanese or a martial artist but in my passion as a writer, I use the philosophies and ideals of the Samurai in almost every aspect of my life. I try to live honorably and show great respect for my family and those I care about.

The Samurai's legacy also serves as a great inspiration for my work

  • So the bushido (warrior's code) actualy came from samurai who, during peace times, no longer served any purpose. So they started embellishing the image of the ancient samurai in order to assert their worth and their status. This idealism of honour and self sacrifice spreads and ends up masking the real image of the samurai: that of fierce warriors, who would do anything (lie about their ancestry, kill their relatives, switch sides during a war... anything for financial and political gain.

  • @OnePieceLover1175

Were European Knights any different in that field?

Who pays more gains thier temporal loyalty (until rival didn't pay more for example) because Samurais and Knights were (using moder term) no more and no less but guns for hire seeking opportunites to earn moneys (many French knghts served for English during 100 year War for example)

  • @Qusza2007 yes

  • Comment removed

  • Whenever you have people who are willing to follow any order of their superiors without question, horrendous cruelty is the result. I don't see what there is worth admiring about zealots who would slaughter women and children without batting an eye if ordered to. Look at the Nazis, Unit 731, Al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations; what do they have in common, not religion, not politics, all they have in common is blind zealotry to an allegedly higher cause than the individual.

  • .........then 200 years later the lightsaber was invented for future warfare and thus the Samurai class was reborn

  • haha i basically learnt the history of japan

  • Sega needs to bring Kenzan to the US!!!!

  • @RangerDanger2463 Not to defend them, but no nation is perfect. Look at what America did with the Native Americans, or the blacks, or the Irish, or any other group of immigrants. Though it still is a pity that they chose the German side.

  • Actually the Japanese warrior code of honor, loyalty, and self sacrifice still lives on. Best recent example is the behavior of the Japanese people after the tsunami

  • @Jester0879 While most Japanese people acted incredibly honorably and selfless during their moment of crisis, I think it would be a bit silly to attribute that to the Bushido code. I think its a general positive human reaction to crisis, that we should encourage regardless of culture or nationality.

  • @RangerDanger2463 you're right dude, like where is the glory and honor and shit

LOOK UP UNIT 731 AND RAPE OF NANKING,

the japanese in the old days is great and all

but what have they become in the early 20th century is horrible

  • if no ammo, sword beats anything.

  • thanks for uploading

  • What made Japan join the axis powers in WW2? I guess it was about oil and the American boycotting

  • Its a pity the Japanese took the Axis side in World War Two. They were very good people and is odd they took the side of the bastard murderers.

  • @zz13x The western nations were enslaving the Asia and Japan feared that white especially Russia would enslave the Japanese too. Only Japan was westernized enough to fight back against The West. US stopped oil supply after ABCD sanction. Japan tried to avoid war against US but the US gave the ultimatum to surrender which Japan didn't accept and chose to fight back to death. Because Japan was Samurai land it chose to "Fight than Surrender" as Samurai would have done the same.

  • yes so was american westerner they were cold and brutal.

  • Japanese corporate warriors!

  • Did Know!!

That the Kamikaze did stop the allied Fleet, This attack was also the Reason why US chose to Bomb Japan, instead of full scale assault.

Guess the US were the coward after all (jks)

The reason they bomb is to minimized deaths for both side.

  • this man was the real soul japanese i respect him from egypt

  • Call me crazy but..

I would gladly perform seppuku, IF i know that I will clearly die. I've said this to myself since when i Knew abt the Samurai and their Honorable death.

  • @AnimeGod1995 ur crazy

  • @AnimeGod1995 lol, i'll fly to your location to assist you with the ritual. i dont have a katana but i think chainsaw would suffice :D jks jks!

  • an entire life of death and destruction, and we're supposed to admire that, crazy stuff!!!

  • Were other cultures much better? The roman empire, mongols, persians, vikings, british empire, american history...more or less every country today is forged by death of others.

Japan weren't worse than everyone else.

  • Thanks for uploading this series, now to get back into some Total war: Shogun 2!

  • @Marty783 Haha, that is one of the reasons I watched this documentry to.

  • @Marty783 lol same!

  • @Marty783

hahahahha, I started watching this after playing shogun too!

  • Thanks foe posting the series, it was nice to sit down and learn that the samurai were just normal troops who were loyal only so long as you could pay them; and their roots in archery was really quite surprising!

  • 01:49 : Their uniforms look like WW2 German uniforms.

  • FUCK USA, FUCK ZIONIST

    TENNO HEIKA BANZAI!!!!!!

  • @eoshopt

FIRE AT WILL !! *sounds of tenth of Browning 1919 machineguns firing at the same time* ^^

  • i just watched all of them, very informative and inspiring! thx alot for uploading!

  • 500 years from now it will eventually come out that some egyptian dude stumbled drunk into the far east 5000 years ago and accidentally started the whole asian culture. the further we get from the actual event's date, the fuzzier it gets. We are not good at keeping history factual. theoretically if you fly away from earth faster than the speed of light and look back then you would see time reverse. 1000s of light years away are aliens that know more about our past than we do :)

  • @108Dax You my friend need to give up drinking or what ever drugs you are on

  • by the time the kamikaze's came out, japan had basically lost the war. they were just buying time. not all pilots agreed with the kamikaze concept. the kamikaze pilots were also mostly low level pilots since most of the experienced ones died in air battles. view some additional WW2 documentaries that focus on that part of the war.

  • Miyamoto Musashi! I was waiting to hear his name. I want to read that book he wrote one day.

Very good documentry. But they could have added information about the Shinsengumi and the Yakuza.

I hope Japanese people continue to adopt aspects of bushido into their lives and people around the world recognise it. I feel a lot of morale is being lost over time and we can learn from the past.

  • The Guy is totally fucking crazy & stupid !

  • @luftwaffe789456123 I understand my nationality did not introduce firearms (my idiotic acomplice)ment simply is that during the Meji rstoration era america was granted near exclusive rights to sell our weapons,i am not an american patriot, sorry for the capatilasation in the first three words, and truthfully i did not write that article somebody else did thanks

  • Very good documentary, 10/10

  • tenks to this video..!!!!

  • luv tha post, thanx, 1luv

  • that was epic, Thank you for posting all theese videos. I have just finished seeing all ten of them and wow! They were great ^^

  • I watched all 10 parts. Janisjai, thank you very much for posting this educational and fascinating program.

  • Just Remember Us americans sold them weapons in the 1890

  • @NumeralKillerlive dude the Japanese already obtained Firearms from the Portuguese during the 15th century so don't say "Remember us Americans" because you are not the roots of it,and in fact your weaponry which is the musket was lended to US by the British who invaded your country and Britain obtained Gunpowder in Asia mostly China.

  • @NumeralKillerlive just remember where you American's took black powder to operate those guns from.

  • @asianboy8969

    From China, right ?

  • all i know is i love japanese women and i love korean women and i love chinese women.....!!!!!

  • @timberlandtim1 with big tits

  • Do Koreans really have to go around claiming that everything good on Earth originated from Korea?! Give me a break, please.

  • Isn't it strange that the emptiness by-product of money-making is not enough to change human behavior? This does not bode well for the future.

  • Comment removed

  • feeling empty? Tell that to the various civilian victims of "samurai " atrocities in East Asia

  • @hsuboi They are saying many of the people felt empty in their sense of culture many things were based on western culture and economics and not as much on philosphy and eastern culture.

  • i love Japan

  • There really is nothing like having one of those Japanese swords passed down from generation to generation, from WWII.

  • @gnoynix1 From WW2???? The WW2 Swords are worthless machine mass made Swords.

  • @Andarion666

Yeah, but they're swords of Japanese soldiers.

  • @gnoynix1 Ah, ok, you had the historical coolness factor in mind. They are really rare, because they only survived if someone really took care about it.

  • @crackerjack113 Ramen was originally from china, and it was introduced to korea and japan, but japan made it better.

  • Onimusha is freaaaaaakin' aweeeeeesome.

    O3 was the best.

  • OBATA KAISO 5:03

  • when i play civ4,i always use japan n their samurai help me conquer alot!!

  • deep and inspiring morals samurai lived their lives the way i would love to live mine

  • im japanese, very thanks uplord.

  • Onimusha FTW

  • omg finaly something about Miyamoto Musashi

  • yukio mishima forever.

  • Samurai Forever!!!

  • this is why i like world history, specially JAPAN...

  • Yes Samurai world is fascinating. But whats their objective just to serve their lord to death. what about simple people, for whom samurai has right to chop off their head.

its awesome but not for me.

  • 10 riveting what!? 10 RIVETING WHAT?!?!

  • What a shame the samurai ended... Great warriors!

  • -cries-

  • Agreed!!

  • Long live the SAMURAI, the greatest warrior class that ever existed, and will ever exist

  • It's a shame to see the Japanese culture, such as the samurai's honour and loyalty disappear, like so many other eastern cultures. The biggest shame is that these cultures are being replaced with that of western capitalism, which punctuates, greed and self interest.

  • It is a shame to see western culture disappear beneath what it has today become, too.

We have lost just as much as they have.

  • Agreed. And in our case the painful tradec wasn't worth it.

  • However, western ideals such as western science, technology, enlightenment, and liberty...replaced a culture of blind slavery to an all powerful authority.

  • In the end it was worth it. I read that the Japanese still live by the Samurai way today and this I hope is true.

  • @daanimalboy shut up!i know you like it anyway!

    or atleast benefit from it!

  • No buddy...I don't like it at all. things could be better for all of us...including you and me. Instead we live in this world of perpetual debt where we all serve the banks and big corps. check out the movie zeitgeist addendum if you wanna found out who really runs things and how the world works.

  • @daanimalboy

You should stop sitting here and romanticizing a brutal, cold-hearted culture.

  • @Andreazor how is it cold hearted compared to what the world is now like?

  • @daanimalboy not completely true, the Samurai culture is still there although not practiced to an extent as it was before now its more of a Martial art or a past time. And as long as we talk about it, it will never die!

  • @daanimalboy thats probably because western culture won the two wwII=/

  • @attackmike thats true. We won the war. It took all of the western world....England, USA, France, Australia, Nuew Zealdn etc to beat 2 countries.

  • @daanimalboy three countries who attacked first and had prepared for it for years. it was mostly the usa in the pacific. usa with their greed self interest and capitalism won over the Japanese war machine. japanese had depended on trade with the usa for resources to fuel their military without the usa's trade they failed. one can say however that the usa started the war with japan by refusing to sell fuel with the japanese but the fact is usa industrial power and doctrine won over the japanese

  • @daanimalboy the thing is greed works and thats why there is greed everywhere in the world on wall street capitol hill china japan and so on. greed is necessary to be a player in this game we call life because it gives power. but it is a shame to see their culture being replaced by tall corporate buildings.

  • They way of the warrior is never easy but a necesity for both peace and war, it is the moral code forgotten which allows nations to fight and recover with pride, honor is somthing truly forgotten by those who have not enriched their lives with it, or no nothing of sacrifice, i think these men at heart wanted japan to thrive in the code, its as practical as the bible good documentary

  • mishima yukiosama is not a zealout or a fool like many westerners have made him out to be; He wanted to wake-up the japanese people to strive to live the ideal most samurai lived and he gave his life to express this in the highest sincerity. Other cultures will never understand this level of sincerity

  • Great post, thanks for uploading!

  • I am proud of being Japanese, sometimes I wish I could be a Shogun.

  • thank you for uploading. i enjoyed it very much.

  • U wont find better warriors in the world then these people who fought, lived, and died by the sword. Makes me appreciate my Japanese heiritage :)

  • I didnt know Skywalkers are Samurai until watching this movie...

  • the cause of rebuilding army was KOREAN IN JAPAN. they are ungly too much for us.

  • interesting how the samurai once did many things that would later be shameful. the more they evolved the less practical they became it seems.

  • Truly fantastic documentary, thanks for uploading.

  • Thanks for the upload, great documentary.

  • Excellent and informative documentary. Thankyou very much

  • - people should take notes

    - that was great

  • 70's Japanese mom are hot.

  • thank you for uploading this.

  • where are the wolves of mibu? the shinsengumi?

japan have a very interesting culture for me,...

and i cant believe that the one of the richest nation in the world have a hidden sentiment in their government because of the extinction of their original culture,....

    the samurai,......

  • that was awesome

  • That was an excellent series.

  • long live the samurai =]

  • The history forgery of the Korean is famous all over the world.

The coward that the Korean steals Japan and Chinese culture and tradition.

Does a Korean hate the true history of so one's country?

Do not forge the origin of the history and the culture of other countries!

Bushido is the Japanese history, tradition, culture with a samurai.
