  • Britain will always be the greatest navy in the world. Nelson was the king of commanders. America will always be second best.

  • Well we won't need to do this anymore after the government have finished with their bullshit defence review. We won't have a fleet to review! i hate how the government make decisions on this that they don't have a clue about! then get it completely wrong and the top brass don't stand up for their service!

  • is this the world navy or the british a few american and others

  • @Phil1796 Royal Navy (british)

  • I read somewhere that they managed to get live mapping and identification of shipping in the channel, during this operation. That sort of knowledge was a maritime first

  • Great video, one of those ones that almost brings a tear to one's patriotic eyes. May the British government support wholly the increased manufacture of ships in Great Britain and never let Britannia slip beneath the waves.

    God Save The Queen

  • it is too late

  • Hi,Just wanted to say Good Job with the video!!!

I was there myself.I was on the Round tower for 16 hours that day!!(getting sunburnt)

Never got round to editing my footage, but maybe i will make time for it now.

Thanks very much for sharing this video with us all!!!!!

  • Is that our contribution? 2 Blokes in a rubber dinghy armed probably with a bag of bricks to throw and some harsh language.

  • Nah thats the Royal New Zealand Navy ;)

  • They say that they had to collect their own bricks...

  • When one prat has to post a comment on here to tell us that Spain won a football match.... I think it's time to remove ALL non relevant comments... Which I have now done.. The video features one day, in the solent UK... If you cant make a relevant comment .. good or bad about this day in June..2005.Then, dont bother posting them.. as I shall remove them.... And ...congratulations to Spain on winning their football match...We look forward to joining the celebrations in 200 years time. GL

  • ese portaaviones no es el invencible sino que su gemelo illustrious reemplazando al invencible que en ese momento el invencible estaba reparandose en gibraltar.

  • HI Mate ... the song is " Sailing " By the one and only ROD STEWART... Made famous in the TV Series " SAILOR" which featured the previous HMS Ark Royal... 1950-1978 ish.. Regards GL

  • I've replied on your other question.... Cheers.. sorry to take so long..

  • Quote from 'Grommitlauncher'..For everyone ..

"STOP making the personal comments or you will be blocked" ... The point of this video is to show people, who were not there on that day, just what the day was like... I don't believe in censorship ... every one has had a fair go with their comments.. Don't knock the British or American servicemen past and present ..or the French or Spanish come to that.... The day featured in this Vid was to show what it was like on that day nothing more... GL..

  • That was the Charles de Gaulle... I think it may have been a face-saving excercise by the French... Although, saying that; it was good to see a proper aircraft carrier [ lol ] Its battle ensign was bigger than our street.. Spanish comments on here seem to be a bit chippy-shouldered though.

  • Very good pictures and singing by Rod Stuart

  • GOOD VID MATE I WAS ON ALBION providing force protection and co ordinating with the plod and bootnecks the security of the vessels around the capital ships it was busy but worth it 8 days of 6hrs on 6hrs off doing constant force protection was intresting and worth it briongs back good memories well done

  • I was on HMS Illustrious at the time.

  • nice video..brought back some good memories

  • My second cousin served on HMS Invincible...it looks a really nice ship, I wish I could have seen something like that...but I live in Australia and far away from all Navy bases.

    Anyway thanks for this :D

  • Thank's Kaitlin... Australian ship . HMAS Anzac which helped support the Royal Marines in the Al Faw Peninsula, [in the Iraq war] was at the fleet review on that day. Dave..

  • I was on a boat in the solent and we had to wait for the war to finish so we could get into the harbour...I couldnt have been more greatful what a display it seemed so real it was actually quite scary...good post.

  • Thank's...It's strange that you should say that.. We got off on the IOW, had a picnic & watched the Fly past & then caught a ferry back, right through the afternoon thunderstorm.. At Portsmouth we had to tie up out side the berths in the holding area [ I suppose ] But we were right underneath the Red Arrows display.. As they drew the heart in the sky we all ducked as the planes seemed to buzz the ferry at that moment.. And that was all before the War & fireworks ! What a brilliant day ...!!

  • Looks like it was quite an event - must've been a heck of a day out - all excellently captured.

  • Cheers Paul ... My Vid' does not do the day justice in quality or content.. It was an unbelievable day.. If you can; try and get a look at the official video.. also I have just put a link to a BBC website in the more info section [ top right ] ... D.
