  • What an awesome SMILE at the end... love it!

  • @slider28 this isn't a version. This is the original.

  • Watch the live version of this - freakin awesome!

  • WILL YOU BE MY GIRL?????????????

  • T-Rex was a great live band, Thanks for posting this.

  • These guys were Guns' idols. Precisely Slash's. He chose this song for Spaghetti Incident.

  • pfff... marc bolan is HOT

  • @mirjell0 Yep, B-E-A-UTIFUL! I've thumbed you up.

Definitely one of my favorite people to do portraits of. Or even my favorite. I've done 3, 2 failed and I'm re-doing those 2.

  • Copy and paste if Paul Stanley stole this guys moves.

  • @TheTubeyou777 Why would I copy and paste? Wouldn't I just give you a thumb up?

  • be my gal buick,arghhhh

  • Your right 1970-1973 Bolan was the man, The Slider and Electric Warrior are two of the best albums ever made. So simple, so groovy.

  • Marc...you am a beast and Danzig did your song justice....RIP

  • Marc...you am a beast

  • Bolan was god 1970-1973

  • It's not my cup of chords but he does them beautifully!

Marc Bolan didn't ' pass away' he was killed in a car crash,

I know the tree into which he piled... a sad memorial to a great tunesmith!

  • That is the same guitar Jeff Lynne is playing in the video for Showdown. Marc played guitar on ELO's On the third day album also, playing guitar on Ma ma ma Belle.

  • if two men could have a baby it should have been marc bolan and ted nugent. after you watch this check out youtube.com/watch?v=0c3d7QgZr7g

  • I love how he doesn't even bother lip-syncing correctly at the end.

  • Hmm after all these years I still think this is to Children of the revolution.. but WTF still a great trip back to my teens when this came out

  • I like how the song is called Buick and they don't sell any Buicks in Britain and they never did. They only sell Buicks in the US and possibly Canada.

  • How close is this to Stevie Wright's Evie (released April 1974)? A question for anyone who can read musical scores better than I can.

  • @stanibol closer to sabbath than stevie wright

  • @stanibol

This was released in'73 so your question be the other way round.

  • @QueenReigns1 Sorry for the confusion. I spelled out Wright's 'Evie' release '1974', especially to indicate that chronologically Bolan's Buick Mackane precedes it. I have recently listened to all Bolan's available online music and am totally amazed at his versatility and originality. Recentily I pondered how many other super talents actually had 'borrowed' from Bolan/T.Rex. On youtube I hinted that Mungo Jerry's "Lady Rose" may have been influenced by Marc Bolan's Deborah.

  • @stanibol

Actually I was wrong too...it was released in '72 not '73.

    Peace.

  • sweetfreeekin Gitfiddle...........

  • The first punk (as such) The man was before his time..Class

  • Marc had the best hair, so soft and pretty.

  • patsxskip What a guy! used to skip school to listen to him and my mate can play the lot "Do you like my Spaceball Boots Marc?" a young lad from next door came and asked as he bounced around the room and Marc wrote "Spaceball Ricochet" brilliant

  • the guns n roses version is a mixed medley of this song and big dumb sex by soundgarden

  • Danzig does an awesome cover of this on his Lost tracks album.

  • i love t-rex, marc bolan is a genius.

guns n roses is my favorite band and i love the cover they did but nothing will ever top this original version.

    t-rex forever !

  • My British boyfriend brought this album back from England when I was just 15 and we used to make love to it - what memories - I was his Buick MacKane and his his Mystic Lady too! Just listening brings it all back...

  • @bevmueller Glad you didn't get pregnant you naughty young lady! LOL LOL

  • Guns and roses sucks balls. Half the songs I listen to here have people saying how great the dicks n assholes version of the song is or that they wrote it or Guns and roses were very dark and artistic. News flash to all the g'n'r fans, I think everything of the spaghetti incident were covers. I don't care if you think they wrote live and let die most of the songs on there are 20 years old theres no way they could have wrote them! Do some research!

  • t.rex soooooo cool!!!!!!

  • Awesome video. I've been checking out T. Rex out the last couple days and I can't believe how relevant the music is almost 35 years later.

  • On the -70 was T-REX big i europa...

  • Ha Ha. If Bolan had got any camper in this he would have had to change his name to Baden Powell.

  • @DumblyBrilliant

thats awesome lol, gonna use that

  • @HreodbeorhtWeard Lol. You are welcome.

  • @DumblyBrilliant

That statement is so In Tents.

  • @seventiesclassic Groan! Ha Ha.

  • @DumblyBrilliant ha ha

  • thanks DYLANWHITE for telling me about that final word DVD.

  • The Slider album from 1972, is possibly the best T.Rex record. It contains classic songs like, Metal Guru, Telegram Sam, Buick Mackane, Ballrooms of Mars, and Mainman (a personal fave of mine). Another fantastic T.Rex album is Electric Warrior, released in 1971, which includes Get it on (Bang a Gong). Check it out!!!

  • Meeeeeeeeeeeee ow ow ow!!!!!! Love that man!!!!! =)

  • wonder where that crazy silver guitar is today, wish i had it!

  • I'm gone and fuck you !!!

    :-))))))))))

  • pure genius between 1970-1973

  • He was Brilliant! & is still sadly missed!

  • This is a US promotional video to help Marc break the states. Recorded either late '72 or early '73.

  • @metalhen I thought get it on was already a hit in US Jan 72,so he had already had a hit.

  • @scotsmaninusa Hi there. Buick Mackane is an album track from The Slider released circa May '72. in the UK. The album may have been released in the USA at the same time or just after. It wasn't a single for T.Rex (so not a hit in that respect). Buick MacKane was filmed along with Children Of The Revolution for USA promo purposes. Time line would seem to be correct. Late '72, early '73.

  • @metalhen I know the history of the track,I am making the point that Marc had already broke the states as he already had a hit with get it on.

    anyway no big thing

    cheers

  • @scotsmaninusa Sorry I misunderstood what you meant. Indeed Get It On was already a hit in the states. The promotional film of Buick MacKane and Children Of The Revolution were made to help consiladate that sucess. At that time T.Rex were only sucessful in certain areas of the states.

    Anyway it's cool...

Good to shoot the breeze with you my friend.

  • @scotsmaninusa As a fellow Scot I am fuckin ashamed at your ignorance. Can't even spell diarrohea, cunto.

  • @hearditman well if you weren't such a fuckin idiot you'd see I now live stateside and that's how the yanks spell it and seeing as I now live here.

  • @scotsmaninusa Does that mean your gonna eat a lot of burgers, chilli dogs and french fries with mayo and double cheese and become a fat bastard... coz your "stateside."

  • @hearditman you're being a fuckin idiot again as I already said that in my account.

  • classic version

  • The Melvins version owns G'n'R.

  • @slunkkk THE MELVINS DID A VERSION OF THIS? HOLY SHIT! I'm gonna listen to it now!

  • It's now easy to keep a little Marc in your heart. Great!

  • BUICK MCANE WILL U BE OMG!! MY GUY angel

  • luv when he says buick mcane

  • Slider is one of the most underated albums.

  • I LOVE Guns n Roses.... But this is a BETTER version!

  • A great Marc Bolan song which has also been covered superbly by Guns n Roses.

  • Great Rex ;)

  • Slash has stated in several interviews that he was a huge T. Rex fan, and cites Marc Bolan as an influence. He wore the top hat as a "nod" to Marc Bolan!

  • @rumtumbugger

Read some music history u fucking idiot before u say stupid shit like Guns and fucking Roses wrote this song!!!!!!

Oh yeah that fucking Slash is real original to by stealing the idea of wearing a tophat like Marc Bolan did in the 70's!

    Fucking grow up kids!!!!!

  • criss t-rex avais deja les cheveux come din année 80's .....

  • singer and showman..still ROCKS

  • At 0:17 his hands look weird...

  • Bolan=genius!

  • i like the gnr version 2

  • They don't make 'em like Marc anymore! He was a one-off! Keep a little Marc in your heart!

  • Marc Bolan is God!

  • Marc Bolan = sex on legs

  • I love it , excellent song 5/5

  • marc was one of the original rockers. the world would be a different place without his music...rip!

  • Worse place for sure :)

  • Marc Bolan passed away in 1977, 8 years before Guns N' Roses even formed.

  • @jujuchrist Dude people are idiots. Let em have it. I actually named a child after this song...Marcs song. Screw the ignonorance you find running rampant.

  • @wtfe20210 Your kid is called Buick??? Oy Vay!

  • @jujuchrist yes, guns n' roses covered it. when GNR covered it they did it out of respect as slash was a hardcore Bolan fan...

  • Yikes! I'm speechless.....

  • You are so wrong. This is off The Slider album by T. Rex in 1972.

  • @rumtumbugger

That is amazing as Slash would have been about 8 at the time this was recorded and Axel Rose 11 - Marc must have been one of their first fans................indeed! This was Marc in his Zep Rex fase. Great song, great live version, great guitarist, great songwriter - Just GREAT!

  • @ChrisBraide Well said, coldn't agree more. As for Axel and Slash..........precocious little runts!

  • @rumtumbugger Bwahahahahahaha Bet you feel a little foolish.

  • it's later than Slider, I can tell by the Veleon guitar he's playing

  • i SWEAR this is the same riff as at the start of children of the revolution :S

  • This was shot at the same time as CHILDREN OF THE REVOLOUTION on the same set ,it was never meant for commercial release as the track never made it as a single at the time , execs may have felt it was worth shooting for the american market as it was a bit more rockier than his pop releases ?

  • awesome!

  • wonderful

  • Reminds me a lot of "Children Of The Revolution"

  • ur old dear

  • who is buick mackaine?

  • She was his cleaing lady.........her first name was Betty which he changed to Buick.

  • thx

  • is that a true fact ?

  • this was one of the first songs i learned to play in my teens... on my very red electric guitar... and this is the original version right here. wonderful.

  • Check out the Danzig cover

  • I want pants

    just. like. that.

    xD

  • muhahaha your comment is hilarious

  • No shame!

Those pants are pretty much the shit.

    (:

  • His pants AND the rest of him! :)

  • Yes.

    nomnomnom!

    (:

  • Great!

  • god in hell

    what guitar is that!?

  • i dnt no it looks like a dean headsock tho

  • Forget GlamRock. T.Rex helped set the stage for heavy metal and punk. Check out the bands that have covered Bolan's music, like 20th Century Boy and Buick MacKane.

  • legend !!!

The Doors made some music vids in the late 60's

  • See that beautiful smile at the end. I think Marc saw posing like this as a big joke!
