  • Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid are DEEPLY in debt, and eat up half of the goverments tax income! AND YOU WANT MORE??? YOU WANT US TO EXPAND MEDICARE??? BAHAHAHAHAHAHA@

  • @calimar28 Social security is actually in profit, and will be for years (TYT covered this recently). Conservatives would like to say social security funds are in danger because they've already redirected it towards the war and are trying to ring-fence the funds for that use.

  • lol you liberals, man. You wont shat up about the stupid public option. That stuff is done a year ago, the elction just now says "cut spending" and you liberals are still harping on public options...LOLOL! man o man.

  • This insurance bill is a perfect example of why this government is screwed up. Dems are bought and paid for and havent done anything for the their base. I hope Republicans will get in and give the insurance companies more control. This country will be totally fascist in a few years.

  • @nowaynohow26 >I hope<(is a typo) Republicans will get in and give the insurance more control, the same as the Democrats. People are fooling themselves if they think their vote has a say in federal elections.

  • the insurance companies are the death panels they control who lives and dies.

those who cant afford healthcare die e.g- the poor

  • It makes perfect sense, so it will never happen. ):

  • Why don't you "progressives" ever call for a binding referendum vote of the so called "important" legislation, to be administered in each senator or congressman's home district or state? A vote by the people, that they represent, that obliges them to vote for or against, as the people of their state or district want.

There is absolutely nothing in the constitution prohibiting this type of citizen participation, and really important decisions should involve the people they affect.

  • Smidgen...

  • One of your best videos to date. Simple, concise, and with a logical force to be reckoned with.

  • Dr. Ragetty AssTrick shows you how to cope with Pelosi's nuclear reconciliation option!

  • Government run health care is dead just like hiphop

  • @jrwilson87 yes. Hiphop is some dead shit. lol

Now, if For Profit Health Insurance Companies would simply die too. That'd be a great day and I'd be crunking on their old, decrepit, rich, heartless graves.

I have leukemia and I cant get covered by a US healthcare insurance company at all -- not even for $1600 a month (standard going rate) for Humana, Blue Cross, Aetna, or the other 1,952,354 US insurance companies since i have a pre-existing condition.

God certainly didn't shed his grace...

  • Cenk. Why don't you just admit that Government run health care is a dead issue. I mean the Democrats have the majority in the house, the senate and they have the presidency. If you can't pass it now, when can you ?

The point is, a majority of Americans will never accept the bill as it stands. The Democrats who are from conservative areas don't want to vote for it because they will lose their elections if they vote yes, and the far left of your party knows it.

    Start over =)

  • The Democrats are scared of their own shadow.

  • the democrats won't pass it because they know it's really a piece of shit with only their name on it

  • To think just a few days ago I was excited to see Henry Reid gettin' "serious". This really sucks. Leave your money out of proposals that affect citizens One Percent! The only thing you should be allowed to fight for in Washington is what effects your media matters!

  • Someone tell me if the govt takes over healthcare how is it bad?

  • Because that means that, at some point, Republicans will be in charge of healthcare.

  • SOCIALISM!!!!!ELEVEN!!!11

    XD

  • Was it bad when Hitler,Stalin, or Mao took over healthcare? Maybe obama or bush can't be compared to them, but do you really want to take a chance that someone that evil could possibly someday be in charge of such a system?

  • Honestly for that to happen, we will have to change our government completely. I don't see that happening.

  • You better go take a look at the recent executive orders signed by bush and obama. Through these executive orders, if a national emergency is declared, the pressident can suspend your voice and your rights, and even you. These executive powers are now consistent with those of nazi germany, waiting for the next hitler to take power. If the swine flu wasn't a hoax you would have been forced to take the mercury shot. Look up cheney's shadow government! Wake up! Do some research!

  • @AreYouConcerned Funny how WE ARE still in a national emergency that obama declared for the swine flu that turned into nothing.

  • Not really, by obama declaring the swine flu a national emergency, it made sure that big pharma was paid in full on the vaccines. Notice that when obama declared the swine flu a national emergency, the majority of the public knew the swine flu was a big scam, but the media did not press obama on explaining his actions.

  • @AreYouConcerned That declaration was not rescinded yet.

As for the "news" media, they have been consolidated down to 6 corporations that make more off of agenda's than news and facts.

In my opinion, the media is complicit in crimes against the people and constitution.

You see consistencies when you read the executive orders created by the last 4 presidents.

  • If you held an unofficial vote today and an official vote tomorrow, you would get different results. Politicians "change their minds" when its politically advantages.

  • They have been selling us out for the last 30 years.

  • the american people are overwhelmingly opposed to this health care takeover (fox polls show 60-80%) and i think it should be a constitutional amendment that the government is forbidden to take over the health care system, set up death panels, or decide who lives and who dies. if the founding fathers saw this radical left trying to destroy the fabric of this once free nation, they would be right with us encouraging a second revolution against a tyrant who has overstepped his powers.

  • there aren't going to be any death panels. that is extremeist propoganda. the government isnt going to decide who lives and dies, its just goin to make it so that the insurance companies aren't allowd to get away with those very same injustices. now whats the harm in that?

  • wow a fox news poll said that? How was it phrased? Polls are all about how you phrase the quesiton. Public option is in no way a goverment hlth care take over.

  • @tehant1liberal 3 points

    1. Fox News poll??? LOL I can see the question on that one! "Do you oppose the evil government takeover of healthcare that will kill your grandma?"

    2. 60-80% That's a pretty big range! How many people did they poll? (maybe 5)

    3. Constitutional amendments are notoriously difficult to pass. There's not one chance in hell that states who already have public healthcare will support that!

  • i think this country is having a health revolution and we aint going to take anything less then a strong public option simple as that.

  • Brillant!

  • I have a much better idea

why not wait for the Nov elections and then vote

    Okie??

  • waste even more time? no

  • @friction - Oh yea, you were one of the McCain crowd that knew there was no way a black man with the name Obama could ever take the WHITE House. Ha, Ha....YOUR THE JOKE.

You got a lotta nerve posting your shit, when the poeple sent you and your foot dragging rednecks a clear message..."keep f_(ing around and we'll drive all the rats out of Washington." See, we just keep forgetting you guys enjoy taking it in the A__ from Wall Street and the Insurance Industry. This is war man. WAKE UP.

  • pvtryan? like you manner.

  • @pjamesbda You are a idoit by using the RACE card then turn around and use a rasist redneck comment , you better go get your goverment check

  • @ekjohn - last count was one in eight people, redneck. The number of people on welfare. Now, I'm gonna go slow down for you...cause if you have trouble with race you'll get caught up in this...I don't give a shit about skin color. I DO give a shit about backward fks like you. I know some black rednecks too. I don't like them any better than you! Wow, it must be about ideaology not skin color, figure that.

So I got a whole deck of revelations for dim wits like you. Play that card!

  • @pjamesbda So how how dose it feel to be that one in eight ? Play that card !! you have all ready did . You can't figure that out. so do Americans a favor and make something out of your life .

  • hahahahaha - love it!

  • Theres little reason to get so jaded about conflicted interests, in either party. Hell, who isn't conflicted about having the state run this as opposed to the private companies. Its like asking if you want the flu or a cold. The people have the power to turn this whole industry inside out....but their afraid.

The people who settled this country fought famine, disease, and endless hardships and they had no damn insurance.

We need to get a set of balls and face our fears in this too you know.

  • keep it up dude, you rock

  • Couldn't have said it better myself Cenk. But you know it won't happen. I think both parties want this watered down bill to pass for different reasons. Dems want it to pass to make it look that they're "doing something about healthcare reform". Repugs want it to pass knowing that its a weak bill so they can say "we told ya so thats why none of us voted for it".

  • Reid actually showed some balls at the summit. I'm proud of him.

  • reids bought off by big pharma

  • The Repukes and Demspineless ones are playing good cop/bad cop. Neither one wants real reform. A pox on both their houses. Vote Communist.

  • Public Option needs its own bill

  • @ndyt

It needs a ballot question state by state. The federal government will never give it to us.

  • captcrais101, then we could vote as states through the internet. Still see a problem?

  • No that is not what I meant. We need to petition state governments to put the public option as a ballot question. The public votes on whether they want the state governments to give it on a election ballot.

  • lol we all thought Obama was this great washington outsider who would not be bought and sold, but he was just hiding his true identity.

About the only person who seems untouchable is Ron Paul. I don't agree with everything he says, but I'm sick of being lied to.

  • dems really don't want health care reform. They just wax poetic to get votes, but in the end they get paid better by the pharm companies.

  • I think its because Obama is still hoping he can do this thing bipartisan. But if he includes the public option, he could be blamed for doing something that will obviously upset the Republicans, which is counterproductive to bipartisanship. Really, he shouldn't worry too much about bipartisanship in the short run. Best pass something good and strong that will work, and then he can work with the Republicans about their hurt feelings.

  • Let the American citizens vote on it, screw the politicians.

  • They don't want their votes, in favor or opposed, to be registered...exactly.

  • Why not have a referendum on the public option, where everyone can vote, once and for all? Of course, this idea, which is common in many other countries, may be a little too democratic for the USA.

  • @arlosdad Alas. I wish we would do that more often. Or at all.

  • Sorry to say it Cenk but concerning the public option that 'ship has now sailed', so stop keep banging on about it, your beginning to sound like a broken record....you guys expect Obama to do all the heavy lifting, but where was your strong support when the teabaggers were mouthing off last summer calling him a marxist socialist?...eh...exactly, nowhere to be seen!

  • Cenk arranged a freaking protest!

  • Yeah im well aware of his so-called protest, which turned into a damb squib...thats exactly my point, to counterweight the impact of the teabaggers, there should have been a march on Washington in the thousands.

  • These bastards need to quit pussyfooting and vote on a public option! The public of this republic wants a public option goddamit

  • Never trust a Rockefeller.

  • Please call the WH NOW tell Operator to tell OBAMA to use executive order to make HR676 Universal HC a LAW many PPl r DYING waiting 4 care >MALATHION spraying in South East 7 yrs pd 4 by fed gov

  • YES they are.

  • Single Payer NOW

  • @Richardgwm I agree, Single payer now!!!!

  • Green party is great......the only thing is, we need one green party/libertarian person running. We don't need a bunch because if we have a bunch, our votes will be split and that will be useless. You know what i mean, i'm willing to go for whoever that green party says as a whole

  • Cleanse Congress 2010. Vote Green Party.

  • Why don't we don't we just make a list of all the politicians who get campaign donations from the health care companies next coming election and simply don't vote for them.

  • would be better to print off a few copies and post it on every car in your neighborhood or on your neighbors door.

  • @ecwaufisxtreme lawl i cant tell if you're joking or not

  • No one can, but he is our village idiot.....

  • @ecwaufisxtreme Pailn...? God, you people are stupid...

  • U guys should rean Glenn Greenwald's article on this issue. He talks about how the democrats keep rotating the public option villains thus making it harder to pick a target.

Obama is a liar, he never wanted the public option and therefore we will never get it nomatter if the senate has 100 democrats

  • god dammit, Cenk, you're right. It would totally point out the sellouts.

  • EVERY Democrat in Congress and Whtehouse besides Kucinich and Sanders are OWNED by the Insurance Companies and the Lobbyists. They say they want public option but THEY ALWAYS MAKE SURE TO KEEP IT OUT OF THE BILL. Why was Kucinich NOT Invited to the Healthcare Meeting by Obama, the ones who were NOT invited are the ones who are NOT Neocons and slaves to the Insurance Corporations.

  • Comment removed

  • Force the vote, let us know who is fucking this up so we can get rid of them.

  • enough on the fucking annotation in the middle of the screen

  • My public option:

    1. Gov't needs to put caps on price according to services, and enforce pricing to be the same for all people, regardless of payment method.

    2. All hospitals should give a person a complete itemized statement of services provided when they leave.

    3. People should be required to certify that the services were performed, and the gov't pays the doctors. Fail to certify and you pay out of pocket.

    4. You can pay a membership premium (or tax) for this program and it be optional.

  • The Democrats are going to do reconciliation to pass a crappy corporate bill with no public option. It will be the ultimate slap in the face to the people who voted for them. Watch and see. They don't care because they all know that they're going to lose control in November and they're just going to take their bribes and corporate jobs.

  • I bet dollars to donuts you are right.

  • and that's why I'm voting Green Party, fuck you Democrats!

  • @pisces196949 Go Nader go! NAder 2012!

  • max baucus , joe liebermann , lincoln, landrieu , conrad , bayh , nelson....that's 7 senators off the top of my head....all you need is 4 more democrats to join them in voting NO and then you can't pass it.....it doesn't really matter taking a token vote on it....although i would like a vote....because these fools have publicly stated that they would vote against it....there is no hiding

  • And McCaskill.

  • cenk's word is law

  • I completely agree with this!!

  • Even though he's a Rep. only, what has happened to Alan Grayson? Havent heard from him in a while. He was kickin ass

  • @dietsnapple89 subscirbe to his channel on youtube.he is still kickin' ass

  • I checked out his channel, it seems very gay....almost like he is a child molester, maybe the pirate costume mislead me.....

  • He had to go buy new boots.

  • The term "Public Option" even sounds like something that the American people should vote for.

  • @psycheawareness

Out of curiosity, why not? I've only heard a couple of arguements why

  • sochulizm

  • twat.

  • Sarcasm? What is that? I can't tell.

  • Oh. I stand corrected.

  • oh you! XD

  • I don't even agree with health care reform (not for the reasons you would imagine) but Cenk is spot on here.

  • Cenk is 100% correct here. I've been saying all along that if they just put it to a vote that there would be so much political pressure on dems to vote in the affirmative as to pass it. Who wants to go on the record as opposing something that the majority of Americans want? The public option is HUGELY popular and should have the benefit of a vote at the very least.

  • Why don't they just send it to the public to take politics out of it?

  • umm easy because they know itd pass and many of them dont want it to pass because they have to say bye bye to the insurance lobbyists lol

  • More like take the corporations out of it.

  • @claytonemoorejr Because we have a representative federal government.

  • It seems to me that our representative federal government only has their eyes on politics as well as special interests instead of the people that they have been elected to represent. So, instead of anything actually getting done, the goal is to be re-elected to stay in a position of power. In my mind, it is a shame that this is happening and the #1 reason people become disillusioned and apathetic when it comes to government issues and take corruption for granted.

  • You asked "why". I explained it to you. There just is no provision for this being sent to the people. If you want the basic form of your government to change, you're going to have to do more than suggest something that is not and never will be a legal option. The government is funny that way. Right or wrong, they do it legally. Legal procedure has very little to do with right and wrong.

  • Sigh...it's too bad Harry Reid will very likely not "take the vote" because he's not exactly leaping for joy over a public option. It's time (and has been for awhile) for the Democratic party to have a new senate leader.

  • Vietnam Tom !

    EBM

  • real and straight

  • Insurance lobbyist written bills from both sides. Forced private insurance isn't "single payer" BARRY.

There protecting each others corporate lobby money. Wake the f*ck up!

  • Dude, keep preaching it, I know how you feel. I feel like I'm in Bizzaro world on this issue.
