  • electric cars there just shit they make them but they never sell them they just get stored away and never seen agen electric cars they will be so highly priced that by the time our gas ect runso out on the earth tll all be under water so whats the point ?

  • I can't wait for the Australian/New Zealand release in a couple of years (as a Holden).

  • tThey made the car, showed it to everybody, and then, put it back in the garage and and said "now we wait until someone makes a battery we can use in this car..." And later they ask why the company is broke...

  • so wouldnt you be wasting money on electricity in place of gas ?

  • the purpose of making hypird car is eliminating gasoiline cars because in next 100 years there will be no oil in the world but you can allways make electricity right. and also another purpose of making hypird is environment safety

  • who screwing who ? no more need for gasoline ? thats the way but as you can tell generalmotors still can't figure out how to put generators on each wheel to make the car support it's own system... very sad for so called educations now isn't it ?

  • it;s all bullshit, they made a great electric car, and then they shreaded all of them because it did not use any gas what so ever, what there doing now, is they have made an electric car that STILL uses gas.

CHECK OUT' WHO KILLED THE ELECTRIC CAR' you can google the full video.

  • You are right, GM put out a good EV, then took it back due to corporate greed and it has come back to bite them.

Obama is using our tax dollars to keep this company going instead of investing wisely in important areas.

When times were good for them they did not care what we wanted, only what would make them richer and what was in THEIR best interest. Now they need our support.

    DONT SUPPORT GM

  • corprate greed will last forever, and the'll never learn. I run with you DON'T SUPPORT GM

  • bullshit. have you seen ' Who killed the electric car' on DVD, IT serve all the motor companies right, ha ha ha ha

  • 40 mile range sucks. They could easily increase that to a 100 mile range.

  • What happens when you get stuck in a traffic jam for 2 hours?

Ummm... nothing because since you're not driving, or driving very slowly, you're not consuming power. Except for a small amount if you have a radio on.

Unlike in a gas car, which DOES run all the time.

I don't understand the confusion that a few people have about this. So, 2 hours later when traffic clears you have almost the same amount of battery left that you did when you got stuck in traffic.

  • 40 miles on electric power so what! Big deal!, My electric wheel chair does 30. tee hee. What happens when you get stuck in a traffic jam for two hours.

  • Well... lets see. It'll do 120 mph... and you don't have to idle in an electric motor like a gasoline motor... it, like... turns off? C'mon, that was too easy! Plus, you've got a gasoline generator for backup.

  • And the car has a backup generator that brings the miles per tank up to 640 miles.

  • Don't you think that is theoretical. In real world traffic on real broken down infrastructure, how will it perform. Do you know the kind of pot holes we have here in new york.

What are the maintenance issues this new technology will have to deal with. Hey i'm hoping you guys are right and this is a break thru but 40 miles on electric, I don't know if i get a warm cozy feeling over that!

  • It uses a 16.5 kwh battery pack, which calculates out to an energy usage of .4125kwh/mile-fairly conservative. Electric cars typically do better in the city because of regenerative braking and they don't use energy while at a stop. When the battery runs out then you get about 50 miles to the gallon from the generator

  • great concept! can't wait!

If it's anywhere close to the EV1 I will buy one.

    GO CHEVY!

  • Lithium is the next target on GM's EV assassination list.

  • I wonder if this is just a way for them to get main stream attention, without actually selling an electric car.

  • I guess we'll see. Article in the LA Times today saying that Ford is starting to test plug-in hybrids. Maybe that will put some pressure on GM?

  • Interview was from April 6th. We had the VP on the radio show Science Friday that week, along with some other green car experts. Batteries were a hot topic.

  • If GM's only source of income were from electric hybrids like the Chevy Volt, they'd be making millions of them. "Stop buying or leasing NEW gasoline powered cars". See my vids.

  • Series Plugin Hybrids really are the best.

Must be an old interview though.

We have the battery. It's from A123 Systems. GM has already drawn up the contract, and A123 has started releasing details on it's vehicle grade battery pack.

Catch is it's also nanolithium. Not merely lithium.
