im 12 (im a girl) and i'm 4' 10"... i workout everyday (except weekends) but i do gymnastics too. our coaches are insane! i really think theyr trying to kill us some times! we do really hard conditioning on top of working out for 4 1/2 hours... i hate being short :( all people my age and alot of ppl younger than me are so much taller... no fair :(
im 12 years old im 5'9 and 180lbs i work out every day no matter what and you know what its hard i just sprained my shoulder mucle from benching and that still doesnt stop me. if working out is what you enjoy then you should do it.
i would like to get bigger but have no weights so i just do shit loads of reps of push ups and hindu pushups and what not so can anybody tell me if it will help my physique or do u need to lift weights for that
Did u lift very heavy weights, use poor form, working out hard with only 1-2 day rest in between workouts? i believe u have to really stress ur body 2 cause growth problems in most people. some individuals are hardier can deal with body stress, recover from minor injuries better than others. These are only factors, always exceptions. maybe we should find a set of male twins, 1 that lifted as a kid other that did not. BTW-6'2 is a great height for 17.
@kingcum12 stressing body may be overblown a little but is definitly NOT a myth. look up any pediatric websight about growth plate injuries. Teens & kids that are still growing have growth plates in limbs that are very weak. 70% of all fractures occur in this location. microfractures, chin splints or other minor injuries in this location can cause irregular growth, 1 leg being shorter than other or prematurly fusing growth plate if injury serious enough a may mistake for growing pains.
@kingcum12 obviously the big question is how much stress will cause damage, irregular growth or development in teens or kids. some teens are more suspetable to injuries just like adults. genetics, nutrition & inital fittness b4 start working out all are factors. the days of acting like kids are minature adults, can do very hard work or train like adults is a myth. yes working out will improve muscle, ligament/tendon development as well as bone density but still got to monitor young athletes.
It can if young kids lift to heavy of weight, dont give proper rest, nutrition or get medical checkups. Any overuse activity of kids can cause problems. Child workers tend to be smaller when older but not a guarentee. There are always acceptions.Garret Walsh was over 6 feet tall. Richard Sandrach appears to have normal height now at 17 or 18. 100s of factors are involved in a person's adult height. its far 2 simple to just state one reason. some kids are more likey to have problems than others.
maybe ur dads just small, like all the bodybuilders were in to it when they were young, ronnie was training when he was 12, he was on steroids when he was 17, 18, and from then on he's never been off them lol, and he's like 6ft+ all so according to bigger stronger faster, it dousnt stunt ur growth.
if everyone in ur family and ur dads especially are tall and ur dad was the only one that did bb at a young age and turned out to be short, oh and if ur tall, then chances are it stunted his growth
im not contridicting my self, just admititing it might be true, and that im wrong, but if ur dads family is small, then he's just small, and then it's true, it dousnt stunt ur growth.
6ft 10! r u kidding? shit ur tall, thats fucked up, anyway my dad did allot of training when he was about 14 to 22 or so, an he's like 5ft 11, a normal height.
i dont get it, i wouldnt say u owe ur height to not training heavy, u sayin ur entire family have worked out since they were young or something, i think ur just the odd one out, 6,10, shit, ur a giant, lol im only 5,10...
thats possible but most people of this generation are taller than parents anyway. Its not only lifting weights or working 2hard as children. if u lifted weights could be only 6f2. its impossible 2 say for sure. adult height has 100s of environmental, genetic & life style factors at work. 2 dwarfs can have 6ft2 children, just like two 6ft6 parents have a 5ft0 child. Offsping have shuffling of genes in meiosis along with mutation cause variabilty. I belive genetics is #1 factor for height.
I think it is a combination of 100s of factor that make up ur actual adult height. some people may be able to deal with body stress more than others just like some may be more susceptible to knee or joint problems than others. I believe it is a real problem but not a guarantee. its all about monitoring by doctors, good nutrition, rest, good form, plenty rest & obviously genetic propensities are huge.
not sure exactly what u mean but where you get ur statistics from but do u really expect me to belive that musclular kids at 12 only live on average to age of 18 or even 18 yrs after that to 30? again, if a 11 or 12 yr old lifts with good form, plenty of rest, good nutrition and is supervised by knowlegable people, will live a normal life & may improve muscle growth, bone density and overall health. early death has never ever ever been attributed by medical experts from lifting weights.
ya and did u kno that all the other stupid things jackass u guys do as teens could have u also dead by and definately b4 18 : ) but noone ever complains or bitches of that now do they?
Richard sandrack was much more ripped & muscular than Garret here, even probably at 8 yrs old. He was one of the first child bodybuilders. he did not use growth enhancers which Richard was suspected off & did not have the knowlege of the science/nitrition/training techniques or sports medicine that is available today. Garret was the first child bodybuilder, which is an accomplishment. todays athletes are bigger stronger and faster. That being said, Sandrack was great and is on a comeback.
that may be true, he was suspected of it, but all drug tests were negative, making richard sandrak totally clean. garret's muscles are impressive though, gotta admit.
