@ctsdownloads yeah, it didnt work at all, FYI i'm using reefit on my macbook pro as the deul boot, i was able to get the graphics card driver to work but not my sound card for some reason. keeping in mind that i'm new and not yet mastered commanding in terminals, any suggestions would be great, thanks.
@SucksTheJoke Of course it didn't work, it's been a dead script for years. ;)
Do an apt-get install padevchooser in a terminal, then add padevchooser to start-up programs.
Once its installed, do a Alt F2 key combo and type padevchooser. Appearing next to the clock, locate what looks like a looped cable, then left click it and choose volume control. Make sure everything there is turned up. ;)
@TheBearbin I keep hearing this ancient video (4 years old) is stilling working...apparently. That is just cool to hear, though. Glad it stood the test of time. :)
after I installed flash I got a huge sound bug, like it get stuck in a place tec tec tec... or sometimes it as no sound. It looks like a common problem as many forums were talking about the issue but nothing helped me. I got it to work once than it went bad again I am trying to install ubuntu again. It did work as I loged in a guest so it has to be related to my settings. if you have any idea...
First, this is horribly outdated and unneeded any longer. I will be doing an updated video using the GUI solution with PulseAudio here very soon.
Second, if you are pasting
asoundconf list
or
sudo asoundconf list
with ZERO soundcards coming up, you have something very wrong going on. The odds of not detecting your soundcard are next to nothing. I would recheck what you are typing.
Also, what sound card are you using? Is this a notebook - if so, which model/brand?
Now it works in 10.04

@SucksTheJoke Two problems here.
1) As per the date, this script is not used anymore - it's two years old, PulseAudio makes this outdated.
2) Odds are excellent that the video is being viewed on another computer. ;)

I went to matthartley dot com. There was no link to linux fanatics. I cannot get the scripts.

You can copy from the terminal with ctrl+shift+c, and you can paste in the terminal with shift+insert :/
