  • This is too much of a bitch just to change the color.

  • first time soldering and i got this done pretty easy, green dome light off battery and red abxy off rumble. this is hard to do only if you're retarded

  • Hey where can I buy leds like in stores not online

  • @wcgultimategamer324 no stores in New Zealand that i know of sell them so ya

  • hey if i send you 4 controllers and all the leds will you change out the green leds

  • @jducttape

Hey sorry there i normally only do mods if you are some what local so if you live in new zealand yeah but if not best to find someone else =/ sorry again

  • Hey Marc it's Michael y l thanks for the tut might try it myself :D

  • hey dude would you not need to put in a transistor and resistor, so the guide button doesn't automatically turn on? and only turns on when the rest of the controller does?

  • @metalrulezU yeap =D you would need a transistor for that

  • @MarcMTX thanks for the help buddy :)

  • @metalrulezU no problem :D

  • So I'll definitely need a resistor for a 1.8v? If so then can you tell me the color pattern?

  • @rootbeerdude96 yeah and um blue, grey, brown, and then the accuracy band =D

  • @GuitarLegend2K11 Thanks :D um yeah once you drill away the X and replace it with an led just fill it back up up hot glue :D

  • fuck dude you mumble so much, i think that it woulda been a good video otherwize

  • You need to learn how to speak..... You're mumbling through the entire video as if you were drunk.

    No offense....

  • When you solder a wire to a light it helps to have pliers between the point you are soldering and the light itself. The pliers absorb the heat from the Iron.

  • if i had leds with a forward voltage of 3.0 - 3.2v would i need a resistor for that?

  • @MarcMTX is that a yup or nope?

  • How do you solder a wire to the light? I held the iron on it for like 1.5 seconds and it burned out :\

  • @mrRicecrispy

What wattage is your iron? and im gonna asume your talking about the surface mounted leds?

  • @MarcMTX Mines 140 will it burn?

  • @r0cksta554 i think thats a little hot for the board but if your skilled enough you could pull it off

  • @MarcMTX umm, I forget what wattage it was... it was my friends, and I mean the ROL Leds, for player 1-4, where is the exact point you solder it to? :S

  • smd leds= suck my dick ladies

  • lol these controllers go for 60-80 on ebay... good money. ill make loads and voila im rich!

  • @peggy8910 hahaha SHOT! :D

  • @peggy8910 TIP: you can buy regular controllers to mod for like 20 bucks on ebay so you should do that also and you can sell it for fifty bucks and everyone will buy it you know?

  • were did you get your leds message me back please

  • I'm too stupid cuz I homeschool sooo I can't do this but good bid I guess?

  • how much mcd are the 0603 leds plz ???

  • @kweeziewabbit

    Not sure sorry man

  • do i need a resistor when i connect it to the rumbler ???

and how do i know what resistor i need to use ???

  • @kweeziewabbit

Depends on the led your using

  • if anyone is looking to do this. send me an email. i do this for cheap as a business instead of you going onto ebay and having it done yourself

    volcomsk8ing2@yahoo.com

  • does the guide button still work after you drill out the bit for the LED?

  • yeah cause i full it back up with glue

  • um..couldnt understand at all what you was saying, like you was underwater

  • message me to about where u get em coz i cant find em

  • trademe.co.nz is a new zealand version of ebay

  • Where did all of you get your LEDs? Message me....

  • Hey i got a big problem, I ripped off the contact points for one of the LED's on the controller and now I can't get an LED to stick on or work. What do I do?

  • @PleaseUpgrade yeah that sucks =/ what you need to do is try and expose part of the track and replace the track with solder and contact (this is a very cheap and budget way of doing it) so to replace tracks propoley you will need like i think they are called either silver ink pens or condective pens there are tutorials for it so check them out and hope you get it fixed =)

  • @MarcMTX So really just dab a bit of that conductive ink pen onto where the contact should be and put a bit of solder on it? Either way thanks :D

  • @PleaseUpgrade somthing like that yeah, aand no problem =D

  • what type of solder wire do u use to take them off and put back on?

  • @mingostar7 Tin/Lead 0.8mm (60/40%)

  • 4:07 HERE IT IS A LOT FASTER

  • is it hard to mod an Xbox 360 Controller. I wonder if it's easy to break?

  • can i pay you to mod mine?

  • next time hav the controller alredy unscrewed...it took 2 min. for u to even get it ready. Also try adjusting the camera angle so that we can see better... otherwise good vid.

  • thank you yeah i got the led free with a rapid fire mod kit i ordered online...

  • yeah i did the ring of light and the leds are really dim but if i touch the solder iron to it they get bright....can help me out with what im doing wrong?

  • your not doing anything wrong its just that the smd leds you have orderd for the ring require a higher voltage so if you touch them with the soldering iron it increases the voltage. If you use a recharge kit it will make them brighter as they give out more power than two AA batterys but otherwise new leds with a lower voltage should look beter. hope that helps =/

  • @MarcMTX well can u tell me what is the voltage of the controller? i bought some LEDs without checking *because another website said get the highest mcd you possibly can* so i bought 10 5mm LEDs that require a minium of 3 volts, is this fine? i have rechargeable batterys that are 1.2 volts each, which isnt enough, will mine dim? and what is the volts on a plug n play chargable battery

  • they will be a little dimmer and from memory with the usb cable attached its 5v but you can use the prongs as the connection comes through other pins on the board. but good to see youve done some research!

  • so when you turn of the console or/and the controller, the guide button LED goes off or does it stay on? or do you have to take the battery off to make the LED go off?

  • With the way i showed in the video is the most basic way of wireing it so when both the console and controller are off the dome will stay lit. you can wire it though so when the controller is off it to turns off =)

  • @MarcMTX so if i do it like yours the led will turn of when the controller is off?

  • the way in the video will keep the led on unless there is no battery pack in

  • @MarcMTX do you know a way that it will turn them off when the controller is off with the battery on it?

  • yeah just use a npn switching transistor

  • i cant get the screws out :(

  • Comment removed

  • does this still work with a rechargeable battery pack - for the dome???

    - and do you have to solder the wire to the prongs of the led or can you just tie them on???

  • if you mean the legs of the led then you can but it wont be very secure

and im not sure how the rechargeable battery packs connect

  • dude what size led should i use like a 5mm or 10 or what?

  • depends in what your prefer i used 5mm for that controller

  • @MarcMTX alright, thanks man

  • thanks man it realy worked

  • no problem glad it helped

  • For that controller in the video yes

  • Yeap, the prongs are just the easiest for people to solder to so thats what i showed

  • depends on the led your using and what your using to power the leds

  • holy crap i was looking through some xbox vids and i found this i used to watch this alot to mod my controller this vid helped me alot.

  • good to hear it helped =)

  • for just the led for the dome

  • its much easier but i guess you could wrap the wires, but would recommend that

  • do you really need soldering iron

  • @Adads321 yes

  • llamma . com bro

  • i have a question

so after you glue the led in the dome, u can make the wires touch the prongs of the battery pack and it will light up and also can that same method be used for lights in the abxy buttons?

  • Yes and yes =)

  • you spent like 2 minutes just getting the screws out :P

  • yeah this video was pretty shit xD but this was like when i first started ages agoo

  • @MarcMTX aah sweet :)

  • lol i got a free screw driver with my mod kit

  • will a 3.5v LED need a resistor?

  • nope

  • my t8 is like urs but it wont fit in the bottom screws and wont come appart

  • yeah neither does mine thats where i use a small flat head normally

  • like the video but i dont really think its worth it to risk a $30 + controller just to put LED lights i mean its practical sense cuz im like retarted (not mental) and i kno imma mess up lol cool video

  • mhmm thanks yeah ive seen so many people screw this up >< if you cant solder dont even think about this

  • @argentinaboy123 unless i was a rich basterd, i wouldn't do it ;)

  • @dominic123212321 yeah man its a fuckinf waist, cant u just buy another ccontroller and enjoy it!!

  • DAMNIT

  • do u have to take the lights off with a soldering iron

  • yip

  • Heya Marc, NZ rep. Im trying to make a controller with lit up A,B,X,Y and Xdome... got any tips, i have a standard wireless controller. any help will be appreciated, cheers

  • does this work with rechargeable battery packs

    ?

  • i dont have a rechargeable battery pack but i dont think they use the prongs so the way ive said to wire the led in the dome wont light up

  • nah it doesnt matter all that much

  • DUDE SHUT YOUR FACE DAMN NO ONE KNOWS WHAT IS FLYING OUT YOUR DAMN HEAD

  • dude i went to radioshack and i couldnt find the leds do u gotta ask them if they have it cuz i was lookin around for it message me on my page if u kno

  • @ADRIANJB12345 those type of LEd's you need to get online they dnt sell them in retail stores. just try ebay they sell them in bulk for cheap

  • STOP MUMBLEING!!

  • Stop trolling! xD

  • Just finished installing talismoons tilt board =D and i highly recommend it! will upload a vid when broadband is backk

  • hey dude what if you only want the led to light up when you turn on your xbox controller

  • how do you mean, like the player 1 led? orr somthing?

  • @MarcMTX no i mean like the guide button when you led mod it is there a way for it to only turn on when you turn on you controller...

  • it wouldnt be hard to find a trace on the board that you can wire a switching transistor to, i would look for one but kinda busy atm soz

  • @MarcMTX ok thanks

  • No problem

  • hey dude what if you only want the led to turn on when you turn on you controller

  • cant remember all the points on the board but theres ways and their realy easy just look on some forums or somthing soz

  • ok thx, but does it matter if they are rechargeable? :)

  • nopee not realy

  • do you need a resistor if yo u use a 3.1v 5mm led??:)

    nice vid btw:P

  • not if your using two AA battery's

  • i took led lights out of my old phone, will those work?

  • Yeah i used some blue ones out of my mates broken fliptop on my xbox

  • @MarcMTX ok cool, i couldnt really find any were to buy them, so i took apart my old phone

  • @bloodyrevenge99 Amazon.com. The kit is like $2.96

  • its dark... I cant see too well D=

  • Turn your brightness up?

  • @MarcMTX thx for an obvious tip o.o

  • Hahaha anytime xD

  • can u use a hot glue gun

  • ok so will this work with a rechargble battery pack sense you doing it to the prongs??? and about how long does your battery pack last

  • haha im headin to radioshack tommorow for the stuff i eed.. hope it works.. great video and cool controller :D

  • thanks yea hope you can get yours looking good!

  • WHich points onthe board because whenever I do it it consrtantly stays on unless i unplug the battery pack?

  • can i use the LED's you buy from radio shack?

  • Yeaa it doesnt matter where they are from just matters on what the voltage and mcd are

  • where do u get your led lights

  • OMG its commanderzen! remember me on xbox live? I removed you a long time ago because I didn't talk to you much... Please add me so we can talk!

  • I signed up on that site. Hoping to get enough money from that site to get the led mods, and then watch your video to help : )

  • thanks man =D

  • where could i get the led for the guide button in the middle?

  • um anywhere that sells electronic components realy lol

  • by the way its a t8 torx tamper proof

  • wow dude you do mumble alot, but i have the same problem... lol

  • STOP FUCKING MUMBLING!!!!

  • lolololol my bad first vid >.>

  • where could i get the led for the guide button in the middle?

  • it a torx 8 + 10 screwdriver needed

  • Hey Im havin trouble.

I did the blue ROL on the console successfully and easily.

I've done 2 of the blue lights on the wireless controller but they are very dim. Any ideas? could they be around the wrong way?

I have touched them with the iron and at the same time they went bright

  • yea the leds you have require more power than what your battery pack is giving they should go brighter with a charge and play kit or fully charged batterys otherwise best to get some lower voltage smds

  • if one of your screws broke and you cant use the t8 torx use a small flat head but a small philips will work better for me

  • will you sell me one?

  • sorry but ive got no controllers to mod and then sell when i get some more money i might

  • where can i buy the led light??

  • radio shack

  • i would fast foward but the video wouldnt load fast enough... =(

  • Thanks a lot man 5 stars! Where you from though cause im guessing from down under?

  • thanks haha im from new zealand

  • yea woop woop homie

  • Damn mate, thanks for the information but try to talk clearer, it's a struggle to understand your mumbling.

  • sorry i will try next time xD

  • im going to put leds on the guide button on my controller...

how do i make it so the led stays on??

i use a quick charge kit so is there a way to get it to stay on??

  • so could you explain where you solder your regular led to for the guide button? thanks.

  • you solder it to the battery pack prongs if you want it on when the battery pack is in orrr use a transistor to make the led to turn off and on with the controller

  • thanks man. Now may i ask what type of transistor?

  • i havnt done it yet but in the comment from fish2daface he suggests a 2n222 npn transistor

  • yea it was like my first vid i was going to do an actual vid of me soldering the leds in but i just didnt get round to it i am much better with controllers and circuitry now but yea thanks

  • thanks for the comment and ill get round to trying it out
