  • Contrary to the assorted whiners, this a GREAT rendition of the charleston.

  • sylvia witteman bracht mij hier.. oke?

  • klasse bilder :)

  • @LuizaCard

    Danke

  • The tempo’s rather slow but it grown on me as I listened. I agree with @19995skyline’s comment & was thinking before I read it that this would be a version to try dancing to – I’m a dreadful dancer & a full-speed Charleston could result in severe injury to other dancers on the floor!

  • Well, the palast orchester is not a bad band, but this version of Charleston is more of a sleeping pill than a piece of music. If you want to hear real good German swing, listen to the old ones of the 30ies and 40ies who managed to escape censure by the government. For example, James Kok, Erhard Bauschke, Geza von Barnaby, Ernst Höllerhagen, Kurt Hohenberger, and many others.

  • @ErnieHollerhagen Thank you very muych for the tips, I will make a search on them to know their music.

  • oh sorry. (sry my english is very very bad.) i think the tempo is really slowly, but to train the dance steps it´s right. if you learnd all the steps you can try with the original version and tempo :) i hope you understand me :)

  • @19995skyline Thank you skyline! I could understand you now. Thanks for the comment.

  • @19995skyline Thank you for your comment. I don't understand German, and Google didn't help much. I know you are talking about the rhythm, the original version and about dancing but that's all.

  • @maizaccc Let me help out: skyline is saying that the tempo of this version is a little slow, but good for practicing the charleston. Once you know the steps, you could switch to the original version -- which is too fast for beginners.

  • what awseome music that was!!

  • Thank you!

To the people that have written in German: I am sorry I don't understand German and can't reply to your comments.

  • @maizaccc

who does the painting that is not Barbier? The one that comes in at about 30 sec.s?

  • @michelleg978 I don't have the picture in my computer anymore and I couldn't find it after a long search on Google. But I remember the girl is Mata Hari. But the painting might not be from her days I think. ... sorry I don't have the painter's name.

  • sexy!!!!!

  • I just adore the CHARLESTON and this version is the Bee's Knees!

  • Amazing sounds vintage but no it's not! What sophistication and style! The perfect foil for tadays "Jazz Babies"! Bravo

  • @thefabulousmark

    Thank you!!

  • Ahhhh I can see me now, driving my 1928 Deusenberg Model J roadster to the country club, dining with Mary Pickford then going for a drive to the airport where I'd pilot my own private Ford Tri-Motor over Hollywood with Ms. Pickford along. After that? My place for a nightcap, of course. Great version of this tune, incidentally.

  • I'm watching Max Raabe and his orchestra right now on PBS. I'd never heard of him before now...what amazing musicians...and music. BRAVO !!

  • pretty good stuff.

  • Dear Maiza:

Great music selection to pair with George Barbier's drawings! A great combination! You have kept me dancing since your previous post ...

    Hugs!

  • @JMEagle101

    Thank you dear.
