LOVED this video, thanks a lot! :) Sure will do this, hate buying buttons, they're so expensive and can be such an addition to your sewing project! Now I'l buy one each of many I love, then make them! :) BTW, did the wrong word come out at 2:42-2:44? Button holes to thread *fabric* through? You meant *thread*, didn't you? :) Just so it's said: I do that all the time too! Cool, now I'll have to get some of these things to get going...
@RaiTerra99 There are tons of different colors. Check your local craft store, or major art/craft supply websites like Dick Blick, Hobby Lobby, Polymer Clay Express, etc. Brand names to search for include Premo (my fave), Fimo, and Kato.
This is a great idea! Thank you for posting. I have some antique glass buttons that I would love to reproduce so that I could have enough buttons for a blouse I'm making.
For UK viewers wanting the moulding compound you can find it on the silverclay site. I tried adding the web address but it doesn't allow, so I guess put silverclay into google.
@cazat81 Just adding that it might be also worthwhile searching for products called Quick-SIL and Siligum. It looks like they are very similar to what Angela uses also MAY workout a little cheaper.
@cazat81 I ended out buying Easy Mold. There are many brands, search eBay for "silicone putty" and you'll find listings. I looked at Quick-Sil and Siligum, but found lots of expensive listings (up to 4 times what I ended out paying at this time, so it really varies!).
@cazat81 Lots of listings on eBay.com and ebay.co.uk where they ship worldwide with S&H/P&P varying a lot, so sometimes it really does not matter which country you buy from eventually. I ended out buying from a UK one now, but most of the time chooses the US because of lower S&H/P&P and item prices, even if the UK is the closest to me.
@cazat81 Lots on eBay/eBay UK too, different brands (with worldwide shipping, I'm picking the most reasonable item and S&H/P&P, most times from the US, but this time from the UK). Just search for "silicone putty" and you'll find lots of listings... The one I ended out getting was Easy Mold. Had I wanted a larger quantity, I think I would have got Maxi-Flex which a UK restoration seller had (but search for both titles and listings then he didn't use Maxi-Flex in his title).
@57657883 I've heard of people using it with fondant. Would probably work for gum paste too. Definitely worth a try! Let me know how it works out for you.
It should be, especially if you use a strong brand like Premo, Fimo Classic or Kato. Many artists use polymer clay to make quite large items. Not sure what size you're talking about, but if you go over about 1/4" thickness you need to bake it longer. Check your clay package for baking instructions.
Hi, thanks for the video-very inspiring. Does anyone know what we can use in the UK instead of Amazing Mould Putty? I can't find this for sale in the UK at all. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Hi Tigerbella1964, You might try Googling 2-part silicone mold. There are a few other similar brands, some of which might be available there. Good luck!

Thanks for your question, 19thcentury1. The "liquid clay" I use in the video is Translucent Liquid Sculpey, which is usually sold in craft stores beside the regular polymer clay. Kato also sells a liquid polyclay that would work, but it's usually only available online.
Yes, polymer clay buttons are generally okay for clothing, and many people even machine wash/dry clothes with these buttons. Be sure to use a strong brand of clay.
What did you use for the button shank? and where can I buy them?

@mssy89 Jump ring (3:27). They're available in the jewelry findings aisle of your craft store.

Can this product be used to mold gum paste or fondant?? I really liked how well you made this simple and easy to understand.

You said these buttons can be for crafts and you can put string for them, im guessing that also means their ok for clothing?
