    Please go to Tools > Options > Advanced - and uncheck the box that says "Keep Skype in Taskbar when signed in."

  • @shuan44 There is no way for you to remove the program from your tray and taskbar all together. You can always right click on the taskbar > properties > and from there customize what is shown on your traybar.

But I am wondering that skype developers did not know that windows 7 exists and this small routine is not implemented into the skype automatically. But fortunately you find this little setting.     Skype is free to call anyone in the world if they are also using Skype. If you want to use Skype to call a LAN line or a Mobile line, you need to pay for it via subscription or credit.
