i like how the show made rahl richard brother instead of father like the books. it just seems more fitting to have him as the brother and not father. having him be the dad just seems too star wars to me
u know what i never understood but always found funny is? they always call him rahl. which is his last name. but his first name is darken. lol. and ever other rahl relatives, they call by their first name but never last. haha
Thanks! I have thought about doing a revamp on it to include more episodes, but I'm using Windows Movie Maker which likes to crash or freeze on me at least once every five minutes. Still, I may. I'd probably keep the opening bit with Rahl and the knife / Brennidon attacked (possibly up to Rahl by the fireplace). There was some good bits between Rahl and his dad and Rahl and Jessine though. It's a thought.
I have to say you did a pretty good job considering you only had clips from three episodes to work with. It would be interesting to see you use the same song in this video and make another video, this time using clips from both Season 1 and Season 2, especially since we know more about Darken Rahl’s twisted relationship with his family, primarily his father and his brother. Some of the lyrics in this song were so perfect for Darken Rahl.
Gaaaaawd, I just love Darken Rahl. I hope we get another season, or two or three. Bring Darken Rahl and co back to the screen :) I want to see more of this hot baddie ;)
I really like LotS, it's a cool story, beautiful landscapes, it's got *magic* in it :))) (always a win), AND it has Craig Parker :). Horner is cute and looks really good with sword and shirtless and all that.. but Lord Rahl makes my pulse faster. Who would have thought that Haldir would make such an enchanting villain?... :)

LotS isn't returning and neither is 24 or Heroes, so pretty much just Lie to Me (Lightman is SUCH a kick to watch!), Bones (love 'em all!), and CSI Miami (H is the MAN!). I do watch CSI on occasion, but only cause Laurence Fishbourne's character is interesting.
@falconfliesalone I will miss heroes too. I was able to attend Adrian Pasdar's talk at the DragonCon convention (He was there with Dr.Suresh and the Puppeteer). We also met him later on the Walk of Fame and he was very down to Earth. I'll miss Heroes too. Thank God there is still Chuck (funny spy stuff and romance/strong ensemble/good plot twists). It looks like the 2010-11 season isn't offering much of interest. Why don't you think the petitions and SOS campaign will do any good?
It's all about money and ratings. If the ratings are low enough or if other shows have higher ratings, then the company will cancel the show despite a solid fan following in favor of making more money off the shows with higher ratings. It is possible, as anything is, but very rare. Companies would rather not take the risk of fans suddenly or gradually dropping off and being stuck in a contract to make a little-watched low-rated show for however many episodes.
@falconfliesalone What doesn't Disney understand that LOTS was buried in a lousy time slot (4 p.m.) with no advertising???? I know you're a fan so I'm not blaming you, but someone at Disney is asleep at the wheel. I guess I'll be turning off the TV this year. You're vid was great by the way!!! Are you looking for a career in this or is this just a hobby?
I don't watch TV any more. I go online like to CBS, Fox, etc. or Fancast and get Netflix. Thanks! I'm glad you like it. It's just an off-and-on hobby. I'll get inspired by a certain song and certain characters that match it. It's kinda hard with Windows Movie Maker (it likes to freeze) and finding the right clips then getting a song to match, so I don't do it as often as I'd like since I'm busy with other stuff, but every now and again I'll take another crack at it.
Thanks! I loved the Celtic melody that was both sweet and beautiful yet also creepy and haunting, and thought Rahl fit that duality so well. Editing the clips to get the timing right was a pain, but worth it. Anyway, I'm glad you like it! ^_^

he brings a subtle vulnerability to rahl that makes you think maybe there is a chance for him after all even tho he is a bad guy you can't stop yourself hoping that there is a chance of redemption for him i know i do=)
Really good video, but I would've loved it more if the bit where the lyrics go: the flower who married my brother the traitor... If it had a short clip of Richard with Kahlan in the Episode bloodline, because kahlan was his wife, and Richard was his brother, but I loved the song, and the puppet bit, so well done!

No, Rahl's way too handsome to look like Snape. Snape's a very ugly guy according to the books. Alan Rickman's no model, but he's still *way* better looking/sounding than Snape was ever truly meant to be.
hehe... i would say Rahl's hair is fluffy... I really want to just pet it... but I don't think he would let me... plus in order for me to reach that high, he would have to stoop, something he wouldn't do, or get a stool so that i'm over him... which i doubt he would allow. lol.
I cant belive they ruined the books on a tv serie like this. Nothing comports with the books.... read the books and you will see that they are much darker and hold a much better storyline than this serie...
Craig Parker does an amazing job of creating an entrancing villain. It's a character you should hate, and yet somehow, with his performance, are drawn in by at the same time. I hope he'll still make appearances in future seasons.

I was so angry during the last episode of the first season, my poor friend who was watching it with me could feel it rolling from me! Darken Rahl deserved better!

O_o ?... Um, no, I've never read on any site that he is. The CHARACTER he's playing in the new Spartacus: Blood and Sand movie is possibly gay as the director has said to the news that the film will have gay characters, but just because an actor plays a gay part doesn't mean that actor is gay. And Rahl definitely had a thing for both Denna and Kahlan so I think you can count him as a straight man too.

Considering they're aiming for a wider audience which would necessitate a PG13 rating max, and have a ton to cram in from the book, I think they did great. So far, I don't mind the changes.

Thanks. The show actually caught my attention enough that I went treasure hunting for the first book - I've read most of it. There are definitely some differences, but I think the show stays true to character. Considering how much they're having to condense into a series of hour long episodes that explain the book without getting boring, I think they're doing terriffic! i have not read the books, but i have a friend who has read all of the books. so i will say the series is only going to get better. my friend told me things about the book. so i won't give away something i should not. darken rahl rocks. i could not think of any on better.
Nicely done. Really inspired song choice - fits Darken Rahl well. I liked a lot of your transitions and clip choices and how you put everything together. You had some strong timing in there as well (Rahl dipping the quill in the chalice filled with blood was especially nice).
And you did it using Windows Movie Maker! Brava! That program is a fusspot. I found it impossible and gave up on it. Kudos to you for being able to get such a fine vid out of that program! :)

I also stuck all the clips into one folder, edited the clips I wanted and deleted the rest so it wasn't too bad. Now as long as YouTube doesn't remove the sound and make me audio swap the song, I'm set. (Cross your fingers and knock on wood...)
Yeah, but since the mom in the flashback had dark hair, and his son has dark hair, dark hair on Rahl (and the 5 o'clock shadow) does make sense so he actually looks like his son. Also, blonde hair can be hard to film depending on lighting and such. They had the same trouble in Lord of the Rings with the elves. But anyway, I like the TV series and the book Wizard's First Rule. Both are awesome, just different.

Well, I was trying to make a reference without spoilers. You find out about the son through the books, or if you're dying to know you can check Wikipedia. I wouldn't be surprised if they revealed it in the next episode. When you find out, it'll blow you away.
I've been thinking about it cause one with Richard vs Rahl would be fun, but I'm not sure which song to use. I was thinking more of rock like Within Temptation's "What Have You Done (extended)." I'd use Skillet's "Whispers In The Dark" but it's copyrighted. Any ideas?
Yeah I've been headaching over it myself... I'm not in tune w/ all the popular stuff, but yeah, definitely something w/ a nice heavy beat. Great fight though! - I liked the choreography (and the blue flames!!! very HB), though was irked by the accelerations - totally unnecessary. >:(

I totally LOVE Rahl's costume though minus the jacket he wears. Buff Rahl vs ripped Richard. I think Rahl will win though; magic and weaponry wielded by the guy who created the Mord Sith (who can turn magic back onto the owner) vs the Sword of Truth. Yeah, Rahl will win that round. Should be good though. ; )
What gets me is, you don't see Rahl voice a spell, he just appeared behind him when Richard blinked - illusion magic? - and was able to take out two guards and two Mord Sith before escaping. Every time Richard wins a fight, he has an assist of some kind. That said, Richard did get a piece of Rahl.
Oh and GREAT JOB on the fanvid! Wicked!

No, Rahl's way too handsome to look like Snape. Snape's a very ugly guy according to the books. Alan Rickman's no model, but he's still *way* better looking/sounding than Snape was ever truly meant to be.

hehe... i would say Rahl's hair is fluffy... I really want to just pet it... but I don't think he would let me... plus in order for me to reach that high, he would have to stoop, something he wouldn't do, or get a stool so that i'm over him... which i doubt he would allow. lol.

I cant belive they ruined the books on a tv serie like this. Nothing comports with the books.... read the books and you will see that they are much darker and hold a much better storyline than this serie...

I have to agree with you on the last part.
It's true they changed a lot in the t.v show, but once I've learned to take the books as one, and the show as another, it wasn't so bad.
Sure, it wasn't as great as it could've been, but it was still kind of enjoyable.

Craig Parker does an amazing job of creating an entrancing villain. It's a character you should hate, and yet somehow, with his performance, are drawn in by at the same time. I hope he'll still make appearances in future seasons.

@SparklesTinyShiny , I agree completely! The character is likable, even though he's soooo bad. (Read the book! They only scratched the surface with the show!) I was so angry during the last episode of the first season, my poor friend who was watching it with me could feel it rolling from me! Darken Rahl deserved better!
And he does appear later... at least in the books...

O_o ?... Um, no, I've never read on any site that he is. The CHARACTER he's playing in the new Spartacus: Blood and Sand movie is possibly gay as the director has said to the news that the film will have gay characters, but just because an actor plays a gay part doesn't mean that actor is gay. And Rahl definitely had a thing for both Denna and Kahlan so I think you can count him as a straight man too.

Considering they're aiming for a wider audience which would necessitate a PG13 rating max, and have a ton to cram in from the book, I think they did great. So far, I don't mind the changes.
And damn, Craig Parker is HOT! (and Rahl is sexy ^_^ )
I want Rahl's costume. I love the look and design of it. I wonder if anyone's cosplaying characters from the show yet.

Thanks. The show actually caught my attention enough that I went treasure hunting for the first book - I've read most of it. There are definitely some differences, but I think the show stays true to character. Considering how much they're having to condense into a series of hour long episodes that explain the book without getting boring, I think they're doing terriffic! Craig Parker as Darken Rahl - how could you not like it! ; )

i have not read the books, but i have a friend who has read all of the books. so i will say the series is only going to get better. my friend told me things about the book. so i won't give away something i should not. darken rahl rocks. i could not think of any on better.

Nicely done. Really inspired song choice - fits Darken Rahl well. I liked a lot of your transitions and clip choices and how you put everything together. You had some strong timing in there as well (Rahl dipping the quill in the chalice filled with blood was especially nice).
And you did it using Windows Movie Maker! Brava! That program is a fusspot. I found it impossible and gave up on it. Kudos to you for being able to get such a fine vid out of that program! :)

Major thanks! ^_^ And yes, it was a severe pain. It likes to freeze up, but I just saved every single time I made any change and worked though it. I also stuck all the clips into one folder, edited the clips I wanted and deleted the rest so it wasn't too bad. Now as long as YouTube doesn't remove the sound and make me audio swap the song, I'm set. (Cross your fingers and knock on wood...)

Yeah, but since the mom in the flashback had dark hair, and his son has dark hair, dark hair on Rahl (and the 5 o'clock shadow) does make sense so he actually looks like his son. Also, blonde hair can be hard to film depending on lighting and such. They had the same trouble in Lord of the Rings with the elves. But anyway, I like the TV series and the book Wizard's First Rule. Both are awesome, just different.

Btw, I think WMM hates this song in particular - I did a vid with it and it was torture, too. You did a great job though, it's perfect for him, and the puppet part is especially awesome!

I've been thinking about it cause one with Richard vs Rahl would be fun, but I'm not sure which song to use. I was thinking more of rock like Within Temptation's "What Have You Done (extended)." I'd use Skillet's "Whispers In The Dark" but it's copyrighted. Any ideas?

Yeah I've been headaching over it myself... I'm not in tune w/ all the popular stuff, but yeah, definitely something w/ a nice heavy beat. Great fight though! - I liked the choreography (and the blue flames!!! very HB), though was irked by the accelerations - totally unnecessary. >:(
Might be worth waiting for the next ep, too - looks like Rahl is going to get frisky w/ another tied-up babe XD

I totally LOVE Rahl's costume though minus the jacket he wears. Buff Rahl vs ripped Richard. I think Rahl will win though; magic and weaponry wielded by the guy who created the Mord Sith (who can turn magic back onto the owner) vs the Sword of Truth. Yeah, Rahl will win that round. What gets me is, you don't see Rahl voice a spell, he just appeared behind him when Richard blinked - illusion magic? - and was able to take out two guards and two Mord Sith before escaping. Every time Richard wins a fight, he has an assist of some kind. That said, Richard did get a piece of Rahl.
