  • Warscholar....it's so gratifying to see an american who is genuinely interested in Chinese history and knows some bits better than I do!

  • I bet this video is blocked in China :-D

  • All in all, a fairly good job...Some one mentioned that the rape of Nanking was left out but I suppose you could not cover everything. One problem I thought was with the map - it showed Taiwan coloured as foreign territory throughout the entire period notwithstanding that it was returned to China (KMT forces) in 1945. Also, you mistakenly referred to Chiang declaring "Taiwan" a provisional capital. Presumably you meant "Taipei". A province cannot be a capital.

  • Nice Video. A lot of important details were omitted though. For example,

the kidnapping of Chiang and the final battles in Chongqing and Chengdu, before the eventual exodus to Taiwan.

  • Thanks man used this to study for a test anf got an A, i subbed

  • LONG LIVE THE PEOPLE'S REVOUTION!!

  • @1Mafioso4 I think China has kind of forgotten about the people and has become a little more interested in the dollar.

  • I've got to write an essay on how the CCP managed to defeat the KMT for a uni module and have found these videos to be a very useful and accessable resource. Cheers for posting.

  • @Janoslechner Thank you.

  • USA seems to always back the wrong guy! How can they back a KMT government under which inflation rate exceeded 7000% and life expectancy lower than 40 years?

  • @am00310 The US tends to back landowners and secular/mildly religious conservatives. Rule of law and status quo types. IMHO.

  • poorest history you could found

  • @dorson723 Why?

  • If you study history, you will know that after WW2, communism always succeeded in the part of the world where there was no majority middle class established. The communism idealogy appealed to poor people, and the majority of the Chinese population in China after WW2 was poor. The poor people were eager to improve their lives and the CCP took the opportunity to win the popular support. With today's ever increasing Chinese middle class, the free China will come naturally (peacefully)!!

  • Does this mean the Chinese are the reason Japan didn't participate in Barberossa?

  • I salute you American friend.

The part about Nanjing was omitted, but as Japan is America's ally, such omission is understandable...

Eisenhower in Taiwan was the second climax of Sino-American Alliance. America should have supported a KMT strike back during the late 50's. That could have saved America the trouble of Vietnam war.

Taiwan is an element of the Cold War, a part of George Kennan's China Isolation policy. Nowadays, it blockades PRC martime expansion into the Pacific.

  • at least the dates were all there...

  • The communists never cooperated with the KMT to fight against the japs!! The communists were actually building up theiw power while the KMT is becoming weak from the battles with the japs!! The chinese actually favoured the nationalists but they were eliminated by the commies!!!

  • dont be brain washed my friend, read more 1st degree sources with 3rd person view.

  • @KMTchina Yeah. Kind of messed up. The communists let the KMT do most of the fighting and dying then took them out when they were weak. But that's war I guess.

  • @KMTchina Favoured the nationalists? The Kuomintang is great, but everyone already knows, the popular support went to the Communists. Most people in China supported the Communists, it was the rich that didn't support the Communists.

  • @SHUTUPNOOB654

The communists were a sham who utilized deceit, sheer luck and nefarious retention of their troops during the Second Sino-Japanese War in order to consolidate their forces for the later, chinese civil war.
