  • HOLY CRAP. Dang that signature is freakin INTENSE!!

  • Damn, that rotation!

  • That velocity is so intense of a signature...

I don't think anyone's seen one stronger than that.

  • Onley one tornado hit greensburg that sexual night.., imean stormy night

  • very nice, except you should have left your self-correction off for the mystery.

  • Goody... I believe it just became rain wrapped, so the hook disappeared. You can see in the velocity loop that there is only one rotation. Looks like the 2nd "hook" is the RFD.

  • I'm not a trained meteorologist but have always been fascinated by tornados. Someone tell me if what I'm seeing is correct. The original hook echo lost definition over Greensburg and then it almost appears a 2nd hook echo developed west of Greensburg and swept though after the first echo. Does anyone see this and if this is true , did two tornados hit Greensburg that evening ? I read one one report where the town was under siege for 30 minutes which is a long time for one tornado.

  • @GOODY61 Well, Greensburg got hit by one tornado (the 1.7 mile wide wedge). There were some satelite tornadoes around the wedge, but those did not hit Greensburg. Also, when you see the second hook echo, that formed a 2.0 mile wide wedge tornado west of Greensburg (that one did not hit Greensburg), but it did affect other towns.

  • @GOODY61 From what I understand, the hook echo got recycled, usually an indiator of a severe Tornado. Just because it disapeared, doesn't mean that the tonado dissapeared, as shown on the velocities. 30 minutes is a very long time for one tornado, as most are usually over in 5 to 10 minutes.

  • @GOODY61 What happened is the supercell cycled and shed its meso causing a tragic "curly q" turn of the tornado which put it right through Greensburg. After it went through Greensburg it circled around the town counterclockwise and died. The supercell then formed another meso NE of Greensburg and dropped another tornado. You actually see all that happening on this radar clip. Classic cyclical supercell.

  • Poor Greensburg!!

    Awsum tornado by the way!!

  • I saw that hook... WOW!
