@Blacklilly22 - hi I did ballet from age 4-10 and went on to grade 4 so was about to start work on pointe and then my dance teacher stopped the school as she had arthritis but three years later I have re-started and have to do a grade 3 exam in april before I even start working towards it again cos you have to do exercises and even though in the three years I done lots of other dancing your technique has to be perfects before you start work x hope that helped sorry I go on a bit lol x

I'm a dancer and have been on pointe for a long time, I was allowed to go straight to pointe because iv done heaps of other types of dance but even tho I had done a heap of dance I had to constantly stretch and wear them around and eventually I could do it without toe pads

Someone can start from 4 or even 3 years old in "pre-ballet" classes, that focus on motor ability and basic technique (useful if you're planning a career). From about 7 the student bone structure is strong enough to begin with more challenging technique and also building strength. Let's say the older you can start and be professional is your teens. But you can start recreationally at any age (:

@ballettwilight no it doesn't i started when i was 11 or 12, it all depends on the growth of your foot with your technique, sometime your feet haven't developed enough. On reason why people go en pointe aroun 10-13 is because your feet are basically done growing and sturdy

One of my friends bought a pair of blue pointe shoes because she was the blue bird in our Sleeping Beauty ballet and they, like these point shoes don't have a very strong shank but she likes them better because she can actually feel the floor and her arches are so much prettier in them too!

@VampirexLoverxxx i was 12 when i got my pointes. the teacher told me that i hav very defined arches but bcuz of my arches it looked lik im gonna break them in to quickly. in the bures cross the rear foot. b sure that u get fully over ur box. dont look down cuz ur head weighs a lot.DONT EVER JUMP on ur pointes u could breakthe pointes and ur toes. also dont use thm in carpets. u can practice in ur house but only wat ur teacher tought u alredy. other than that, GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D
