  • Beautiful flag. It's exactly the same as the old St. Patrick's flag of Ireland (which makes up part of the 'union jack' of the UK). Not sure if the Alabama flag is based on St. Pats flag but Alabama did have a lot of Scots-Irish settlers!

  • THUMBS UP FOR ALABAMA NEW IMMIGRATION LAW!

  • I love the south! PERIOD

  • Alabama has a nice flag, it is actually identical to the scottish flag in terms of design.

  • Hello from Colorado to Alabama I heare there were tornadoes there. I hope all are ok.

  • WHITE POWER

  • Alabama is a beutiful state and i am from tennessee. We dont have to say we are sorry for our great 11 states that fought against a corrupt union.Hell, the union should say they are sorry to us.

  • 2 people are from New York City.

  • @AlabamaSoldier More like 5 people now.

  • some of my fellow British people went there, they were shot at for being foreign and having the wrong car.

  • @brettsworld99 Yeah. Foreigners are safer in the cities. The worst for blacks and foreigners to be in the the "Free State" of Winston County, even though I wouldn't want to be caught in Walker or Cullman and parts of Morgan Counties after dark if one were not white. Just stick to the cities after dark if you visit again and you'll be fine.

  • Hi. This flag is very similar to the old Spanish one. regards

  • i spit on Alabama, full of racist fucks and fat asses, come to California or New York for some real nice folks and no KKK meetings or dipshits wearing bedsheets sitting on their porches holding a gun. I'm guessing Alabama's favorite word is Nigger right?

  • @Indestructible229 Congratulations. You just took first place in Dumbshit of the Year.

  • @Indestructible229 GODDAMN STUPID SHIT

  • @Indestructible229 Um, excuse me? I wouldn't be talking if I were you! California & New York are the only 2 states in the nation that legalize gay marrige. + California hosts an Atheist convention & gives out pot like candy. & with the KKK, that's now in Texas, not Alabama. & not all of Alabama is poor. You should go to Vestavia Hills & Orange Beach. That's where most of the rich people are. Well, those are the only cities I know that have rich people.

  • @CrayfishYAY Um, there's nothing wrong with gay marriage? And who cares, people can believe what they want? And so, I'd rather everyone smoke weed than be racist and violent.

  • @Indestructible229 Um, about that, if you were racist & violent at my school, we'd kick your butt! & Birmingham's 1/2 black. If Alabama was racist, there would be city wars going on all over Jefferson County. But as you see, we're getting along just fine. Kinda. Well, it's actually most of the blacks are trashing the city. Now some blacks are important to Alabama, but the others are thugs along with whites. But the worst of it is north Birmingham. Now south B'ham is the ritzy side of town.

  • @Indestructible229 Ritzy as in rich & very prestigious.

  • @CrayfishYAY haha well sorry about what I said. It's just that most of us Northerners think that Southerners live in trailer parks, love country music, drive trucks, are racists, and hate Northerners.

  • @Indestructible229 It's ok. People usually look at Alabama in a negative way. & Alabama wasn't the only racist state back then. There was South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi, Texas, Arkansas, North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Florida, Kentucky, even parts of New England & Midwest were pretty bad. But that's the past. & Alabama is a very fine state with the positive things it has. So does all the other states in the U.S. Just look at the postcards! Well, thanks for understanding us! :D

  • @Indestructible229 P.S. Please don't curse. I'm a Christian & I'm not too fond with certain words. Well, that'll be all! Have a nice life!

  • @CrayfishYAY

So because you don't like cursing, no one else should? How christian of you.

  • @Indestructible229 Oh! I almost forgot! There's a school in Alabama that is always 1 of the top 3 most prestegious schools in America. & I go there! So I got a little advice for you, DELETE THAT COMMENT!!!!

  • @Indestructible229 Well, I spit on the cesspools you call California and New York.

  • Love the flag, greeting from Maryland!

  • Love this beautiful state.

    Love the flag.

    Love the song.

    Hate this extremely cheesy video:/

  • Ive heard more uplifting music at funerals!! Why are yanks so retarded? They must be the most stupid people in the world!! I mean, really stupid!!

  • @coltsuperocean10 Who are you calling yanks?! Alabama's real state song is Dixie and if you're looking for yanks, you'd better search North of the Mason-Dixon.

  • @coltsuperocean10 Ye yu faggot, that is why we own firearms and use them on idiots...God deliver us from euro-swanzleckers...Come by and visit some time..

    Dale in Birmingham

  • I Live in Alabama! PM me ifyou have any questions

  • it was ok but i need more 'cause i am writting a report on this state and you are not helping me at all!!!!! iam mad8(

  • we have an anthem? never knew.....

  • Comment removed

  • You can here a recording of what sounds like school children singing the song at the Alabam government website.

  • thatdumbkid, Ive heard it is legal to marry your sister in Alabama. That must be great.

  • Comment removed

  • thatdumbkid, what is that?

  • A Youtube troll is someone who posts ridiculous comments in hopes of pissing someone off.

  • like you then?

  • @coltsuperocean10 I've heard you're a moron. Any truth to that?

  • @AlabamaSoldier Non what so ever. You need to wash your redneck ears out if you can`t hear properly!

  • Got Family there. Wonderful State.

  • @Luigi84289 yes it is it's a great state

  • Hi Haters. If you took time out of your busy day just to come here and hate on our flag then you are the biggest loser I could ever imagine. What kind of idiot spends their time looking up flags to hate on.

  • @Scott19seventy5 I am in Colorado For a while I always wanted to visit Alabama how are the people down there? Two things that did chane my mind I hear it is crawling with haters there is one 2 is I don't take flying to well. What is the best zoo to go to down there?

  • @binturong1000 Probably the Birmingham Zoo.

  • looks like the st patrick cross to me

  • St. Andrews.

  • Sorry, I'm from Alabama too and it's a cross of St. Patrick. The Cross of St. Andrew looks like the flag of Scotland. Same design but with a blue field and white cross. Google it.

  • "The Alabama state flag was authorized by the Alabama Legislature on February 16, 1895 by Act number 383. According to the 'Acts of Alabama, 1895,' the state flag was to be a crimson cross of St. Andrew on a field of white. The bars forming the cross were not to be less than six inches broad and were to extend diagonally across the flag from side to side. The act did not designate a square or rectangular flag."

  • Ok, I think we're both right but instead of calling it "a crimson cross of St. Andrew on a white field" they could have just called it a cross of St. Patrick - because that is what it is. But they describe a cross of St. Andrew (the flag of Scotland) but describe it altered for the state...which looks like a St. Patricks if that makes sense. It's stuff like this that reminds my why we have the longest constitution of any in the world.

  • Alabama may be a little eccentric. I call it identity, and individuality. The acts call for a cross of St. Andrew, and this is what they have. It may be St. Patrick's standard everywhere else, but here, it's St. Andrew. Love it, or leave it, lol.

Did you know that according to the state's (vague) description for the flag, any flag with the crimson bars less than six inches wide is legally NOT an Alabama flag? It's interesting, and fascinating. You must truly love Alabama to live here.

  • thids flag is maybe alabama , but is the bourgogne flag (burgundy for english) and spanish royal flag during few century, now to see this flag in alabama is very funny

  • I believe Alabama has been using this 1895. Bourgogne on the other hand switches flags every 20 minutes. Anyway they may have used the Cross of St. Andrew, but neither one came up with the concept. Its such a simple design that there is no telling who originally used it for a flag or any other logo.

  • you can stay out then. you probably dont belong in dixie anyway. Probably a liberal communit who thnks men should marry men, only cops should have guns adn obama is a great president

  • Then you should let them go with the rest of the south hater.

  • Woah, it's St Patrick's Cross.

  • Actually, it's a cross of St. Andrews.

  • No. St. Andrew's Cross is white with a blue background. St. Patrick's cross is red with a white background.

  • The color doesn't matter. It's the design that counts.

With all due respect, I think I know my own state's flag design.

  • aww come on, the song should be sweet home alabama XD

  • yep!

  • Alabama and Florida's flag almost look the same one slight diffrence. Can you spot it?

  • ..........

    The Florida state seal?

  • this is so cute!

  • FACT: The official design for the state flag of Alabama does not designate a rectangular or square design. Consequently, both are officially accepted.

  • This flag is based in the flag of Spanish empire

    (look wikipedia)

  • Maybe but it is the Cross of St Patrick and represented the Kingdom of Ireland and is incorporated into the Union Flag of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

  • You're both wrong. The flag is a Cross of St. Andrews and it was designed to mimic the Confederate Battle Flag.

  • @AlabamaSoldier your the first one i meet that understands its a confederate flag and is likened to the naval jack( now known as confederate flag) although it wasnt the original confederate flag i give you a A for researching the matter and finding the true meaning

  • @Southernjuggalo63

It was never officially declared by the State to have anything to do with the Confederate flag. While it certainly does look much like it in terms of general design, it also is very similar to several other flag that flew over Alabama during its history. Most notably, Spain and the United Kingdom. I love our state flag, but to say that it is intentionaly ment to resemble a Confederate flag is simply not true.

  • @BamFor07 a saint andrews cross is a saint andrews cross you know the cross x pattern used by spain, ulster(ireland) and dixie

  • @Southernjuggalo63

Thanks for stating the obvious. I simply pointed out that the flag is not officially paterned after the Confederate flag, even though it resembles it.

  • @BamFor07 Actually, it's mentioned on the state website that the flag was modeled after that of the Confederate Battle Flag. It's commonly-though dubious relationship with the flag though keeps it under the radar of hate groups like the NAACP.

  • @AlabamaSoldier

It is patterned after it without a doubt. My point is simply that the statute that outlines the State flag does not name the Confederate flag as the basis for the State flag. Therefore, to say that the flag is patterned after the flag is not technically correct, even though it is obvious. As you said, it is that distinction that keeps it out from under the scrutiny of the racist NAACP.

  • @AlabamaSoldier It's modeled after many flags that bear St. Anthony's Cross. By the way, mainly a Scottish design/battle standard to my understanding.

  • @NewHeathen78 St. Anthony's cross is a T-shaped cross and is also known as the Tau Cross.

St. Andrews cross is an X-shaped cross after which is modeled the state flag of Alabama. The charter for the flag SPECIFICALLY calls for a "crimson Cross of St. Andrews."

    Google is your friend.

  • @AlabamaSoldier Your right. I got my my names mixed up there. Thanks for the correction.

  • @BamFor07 Look up the information on the state site. It's there.

  • Rule number one:

Never, EVER trust wikipedia for information if you can POSSIBLY help it.

  • Y is the ST.Patrick's flag flying?

  • alabama, alabama, we will aye be true to thee

from thy southern shores where groweth

by the sea the orange tree

to thy northern vail where floweth

    deep and blue the tennessee

alabama, alabama we will aye be true to the

i know all the lyrics (i sang them last march at the Alabama All-State Honor Choir) but i couldnt put them on here 'cause it would take up too much space. . . XP The people in alabama are much nicer than the people in texas, but the state isnt that good. XPPP ROLL TIDE!

  • What the freak? It sounded like somethin you would hear on an old video game.

  • wtf was that?
