  • Phew .... Can't believe he made it through that.

  • I heat to see bad things like that happened to my brothers and sisters I'm so thankful he made it an angel was watching over him that day

  • omg

  • he survived that? that's a miracle i'm glad he's ok.

  • A lot of people are killed by semi's in Indiana.

  • you should not do roadside inspections..

  • No words are needed! Goodness what a crash!

  • I thought for sure that I was going to read that the officer was killed. Glad he pulled through this . Best wishes

  • my father had taught never to stand in between his patrol car and the other vehicle but i dont think u ever would think that could happen. thank God he survived

  • That was right up the road from me. That was a crazy wreck. I had to detour around.

  • Great to see he survived! God Bless!

  • @deadcrazywhiteman PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THIS VIDEO IS OVER 4 YEARS OLD AND SEVERAL CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE AS TO LOCATIONS OF TRUCK INSPECTIONS.

  • does anybody see the skill in the semi windshield 0:54

  • @BIGFITZ502 no but i see a skull

  • @BIGFITZ502 "skull"

  • The "d.o.t." and police are more about revanue than public safety. Maybe next time he will do an inspection in a safer place. Atleast he survived.

  • They should not do inspections on the roadside. It's not safe...as this shows.

  • GOD must have bin on his side

  • how did he survived that WOW

  • Thank GOD he survived that...that's amazing!!!

  • I got a killer set of tools... I CAN FIX IT!!

  • It's common knowledge trucks work in pairs.

  • I am glad he made it..I used to be a police officer..I hope the idiot that hit him is locked up!!!!

    !!!!!

  • he lived wow god had his back 4 sure

  • Been driving for 12 years.....biggest fear is a wreck with another truck. Godspeed to all Law enforcement.

  • It should be against the law to do a truck inspection on the side of the road.

  • Yes slow down and move over when possible and pay attention while driving! But cops DO NOT protect! They uphold the law, period!

  • ya deffinetly can be buffed out a little paint some body work and yo good

  • reminds me of a similar accident in canada, opp officer pulled sumone over leaving thier car half in the slow lane for no reason, got rear ended by a semi, dead officer and dead pulled over fellow, sad that it happens

  • HE Died !!! LOOK on the dash of the semi !!!

  • That is why you dont do roadside inspections.

  • Houdini for real!!!

  • is why if a state police is going to conduct a inspection, it should be done on a off ramp or a parking lot away from the moving interstate traffic. he or the other driver could have been killed if he was outside the truck with the driver doing the inspection.

Lets think safe and smart out there drivers and those sworn to protect the public

  • I USED to respect truck drivers. NOT ANYMORE!.

I lived about a mile from a Truck stop about ten years ago.

THey have ran my Wife and I totally off the road SEVERAK times,Pull out in front of you with you LESS than 50 Ft from them going 40 45 mph. TOtdays truck drivers are RUDE probably a few nice ones but the bad totally outnumber the good.

I live near I-65 iy is shut down several times a month from Semi crashes nothing new here.

  • Did anyone see the skull in the truck at the end???

  • wow thts one tough ford

  • wow thts one tough ford.

  • can anybody tell me what is in the front seat of the red semi in .59 let looks to me like death himself...just looking

  • that was a car

  • God said it's not your time Son

  • i think he really is Houdini!..im just sayin

  • As I look at this clip, I could only think...........the driver of semi #2 did not at all use the "SMITH" system.

  • He had a angle watching him that day thats for sure.

  • Random inspection is never good on highway shoulders. Why would any state troopers want to risk life just to inspect oversize vehicle? I will Never understand~!!

  • you know that driver is prolly in prison and if not (suprisingly) he will never operate a tractor trailer again for as long as he lives. which is a good thing

  • he wasnt killed now thats amazing

  • I move over for these guys too...their jobs aren't easy either....I just hope they stop inspecting on the shoulder, and keep it to the weigh stations, or find a safe parking lot

  • esse merda morreo?

  • I live in Indiana and everyone I know was watching this story. We were all praying for this officer! God is merciful !

  • for sale former police intercepter fresh paint

  • check out at 1:00 the skull in the window of the red truck "Death"

  • i like how at 1:00, in the cab of the maroon rig..in the widow is a mask of some sort of a skull.

  • I'm guessing Houdini is a new nickname?

  • i can't beleive he survived that crash i would of expected a fatality

  • Holy shit, someones invincible. Betcha he goes to shootouts shirtless!

  • No he was in the car, driver side door open he did lay down as he did see it coming from behind he stated it was by chance he just happened to look over his shoulder.

Aside from that Police cruisers are built with frames stronger then any road car, almost as strong as cars were once made back in 1960, not sure when they started to use aluminum instead.

and yes its 90% probability the truck driver who smashed the car is fired and unable to work in that same business type again.

  • Just another Kenworth with mechanical issues

  • them are some damn good wheels lol

  • it was a miricle he survived. there are lots of horrible drivers on the road and ones that shouldn't be driving. they say teenagers are the worst but i see alot of adults speeding down the road

  • wow he was lucky to be alive

  • imagine waking up in car like that.....ssccccaaaarrrryyy

  • How does one live through something like that!? God was watching over him that day that's for sure! Wow...

  • There's a skull on the dash of the semi tractor....

  • Was he wearing his saftey belt?!!! Just goes to show you, if it's not your day to go, you aren't going.

  • There is no excuse for this to happen people need to pay attention to whats going on around them ,your driving a weapon !!!!

  • Im not a trucker but even so if I see a cop car ahead I pull in the next lane away from them ! Isnt that common sense ???????????????? Or is it just me ?

  • see that skeleton on the dash of the red rig towards the end, weird huh?

  • skull in the red truck at .58

  • Rims still look good. lol

Glad to hear he made it out okay.

  • wow ..I cried when I saw this My husband is a cop it was hard to see the pictures ...Your work on this earth was not done ...God Bless you

  • yea, no kidding. Move over you morons! Let them do their job without them having to keep an eye on you and the traffic stop.

  • ? how did he survive this there nothing left of that crusier

  • i dont get how that happens u dont crash into the car with the guy pissing on the side of the road but u hit the state trooper car with all the flashing lights wtf??

  • Torques Me Off They Only Care About There Own!!!

Its Not A Law To MOVE OVER/ SLOW DOWN For John Q Public

Move Over Slow Down For ANYONE On The Shoulder!!!

  • Did anyone notice the skull or mask in the red semi at 0:56 ?

  • The much maligned Crown Vic did it's job in that one.

  • said he crawled out and even called it in. only a trooper skills i think shock wouldve killdd me

  • anyone else notice the skull mask on the dash of the maroon truck

  • DOT regulations require the officer to conduct the inspection in a safe location...

  • I have a buyer on e-bay for used cop car parts ?

  • God was with him

  • Glad he is OK, but them truck drivers need to slow down and watch the road more. They are ALWAYS wiping out, wrecking stuff, and getting the freeway shut down.

  • Damn how does someone survive that?

  • I still think they can fix this car . . .

  • Good to hear that he made it. Wow.

  • i like the vid but nxt time slow doen the ending. its hard to read when its going that fast

  • Stg. if I were you I'd be doing the lottery........every week.

  • remember driving by this wreck. This one and a fatality of a state trooper a week later is what caused national attention on laws requiring you to get over when emergency vehicles are on shoulder

  • More like move over and protect them that are inspecting us.

  • Just applied to be a State Trooper! Hope this never happens to me if I get in.

  • Other than for a wreck, there is NO good reason to stop on the shoulder of an interstate. When I drove the big rigs 40 years ago, when I was so tired that I couldn't go any farther, I would get off at an exit, and proceed to the on-ramp where I'd pull over on the shoulder. My reasoning was that it was the safest spot since anyone getting ON the interstate would probably be awake and going slow. Remember, you can control what you do but you can't control what kind of foolishness others do.

  • aww i wanted to see a picture of him standing up and smiling. <---cheesey i know..

  • everyone is supposed to move to the left lane for Police, etc.

    his lucky day for sure.

  • How in the hell does that car get demolished, yet the left front wheel is in pristine condition?

  • Horrific..Happy to hear he is doing great!!!!

  • WOW no wonder he got the nickname Houdini

  • I just can't believe he survived...but I am so glad he did!!

  • LUCKY GUY

  • another reason truck inspections should not be carried out on the side of the highway, IT'S NOT SAFE!!!

  • k. you ok ,god bless you us trooper.

  • I went to school with Rich, this was his second time to have this happen to him. Please PAY ATTENTION when you come up on emergency vehicals on ANY road!! I had some close calls while on a fire department that ran call on HWY 57 in IL. NOT good to have your butt about wiped all over the road while your trying to help someone who is dieing or in real bad shape! Don't be a looky lo-ser!!

  • i hope someone in his family bought a lottery ticket that day

  • Pleae tell me this guy is no longer driving....When you see flashing lights slow down and movie over its that damn simple why is this so hard for people to understand....that accident was just flat out carelessness.

  • i think in modern cars as long as the car is running the airbag system is running as well. cars are designed normally to deploy an airbag in a crash from the center at 14mph, however if an airbag sensor detects a crash while the car is running no matter the speed it will deploy an airbag- because it detected a crash. in the end speed doesnt matter its what triggered the sensor.

  • good thing he had his seatbelt on otherwise he would have died!

  • Hope all people would be so lucky

  • By the grace of god. I am a local professional driver in St. Louis for over a decade. The stuff I see on a weekly basis would blow your mind. Please be safe because we all have family members that depend on us to make them a living. God bless all law enforcement, and thank you for all you do.

  • That's One Tough Cop!

  • No, the guy was saying'' I think I lost my job'', what an idiot.

  • did he die?????

  • Nope, as of 11/20/2009 he's still keeping us safe!

  • Wow i guess when its not you time to go its just not your time, Only our lord Jesus Christ know when. Jesus Christ is the way the thrut and the life. Amen

  • Wow i guess whan its not your tme to go its just not your time. Only our loard Jesus Christ know when.

  • @brazzco amazing he didnt die wooooooooooow

  • one lucky sob

  • Odd, usually a modern car has to be moving for the airbags to deploy.

  • @wootness3000 No, it doesnt.

  • why? it has impact sensors in the bumper, thats all. it has to be RUNNING, maybe, why would automakers go to the extra trouble to make them only deploy when the car is moving? Think about how many cars are stationary at traffic lights etc in accidents

  • @wootness3000 Well, when the semi in the rear smashed into the cruiser and drove it into the rear of the semi in the front it was moving and that is probably when the airbags deployed.

  • I bet the guy driving the red truck got a big fat ticket

  • Thank God he didn't die,I am a truck driver and I always move to the next lane for the Police.

  • amazing he survived. Thats one lucky guy.

  • This guy had an angel on his shoulder...

  • Probably not on this stop.

  • Probably not on this stop.

  • Move Over, I do,, Unless the A,,,, behind me has no idea what is going on in front of us and tries to pass. Thanks to all our Law enforcement folks out there, How do they say it these days : you are the bomb:???? Thanks any way

  • I have always tried to understand why so many accidents of this type happens. It is not hard to see flashing emergency light on the side of the road.

  • whew! said driver #1 to #2. I owe you one, almost got a ticket!

  • c what happens when ppl get pulled over...so coppers...cmon stop pulling ppl over...for ur own sake XD

  • I can not believe he survived. Thank God for that.

  • Thank God he survived.

  • dang he was alive wow. dang he never goona die if he made alive with that one.peace

  • always move over for anyone on the side of the road. It's not worth killing someone or yourself. to many times I have seen broken down cars and the person who was driving the car is usually not in the best state of mind and may walk out onto the road not thinking or paying attention. and then the rubber neckers... Cops put themselves on the line every day and really could use the extra help of not going home on a stretcher. just move over. It really does not take that much effort.

  • What was going threw his minda when he got out and saw that. I would flip a shit.

  • He was sitting in his car when this happened.

  • God was watching and guiding him, god helped him cheated death lucky man

  • Uhhhh !!

  • I'm a NYS Trooper I work on a busy highway I-87. The problem with some people is they have thier head up thier ass. They want to go from point A to point C and not worry what is in between. I can't count how many times i have been standing on the side of the road on a traffic stop and come close to being hit by someone.

  • someone was watching over him.

  • And people question god being real!

  • That photo is on alot of billboards in Indiana that states " Pay Attention or Pay the Consequences"

  • It's unbelievable he survived from such an huge crash, but I am glad he did it

  • I hope the trucker that hit him is doing a job he can handle now like cleaning rest area bathrooms...

  • im from fort wayne

  • it's just a scratch, it could be removed

  • tires look ok atleast.

  • gotta love those Crown Vics

  • Wow,that's a complete miracle that he survived that.

  • can buff it ut maybe use some duck tape

  • that guy wont want to sit in his car again

  • Not this one for sure!! Thanks for your comment.

  • did he die or was he allright?

  • Totally OK & still serving Indiana as an ISP Trooper as of 09/03/2009.

  • Still doing his job as an ISP Trooper as of 09/03/2009.

  • Indiana ROCKS!!!

  • watch out for the smokey bear.

  • Good thing we drive on the left instead of the right.

  • Some of the goofballs here in the USA also drive on the left.

  • imagine being in there

o yer you would be dead

  • i agree with alanshore78, im glad he made it, very lucky!

  • i cant even tell where the engine is

  • Was this near Lafayette/Frankfort?

  • Yup, sure was!!

  • he is a VERY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lucky man also was there any crages for semi #2 Driver

  • No doubt... If they could write tickets for "Driving Under The Influence Of Stupid" the troopers would never get time off to go home to their family.

  • OMG!, He is so very Lucky! He should have bought a lottery ticket!

  • Sorry about your mishap there brazzco, but with the way the trucking industry is right now, you aren't missing anything. I own one leased to Landstar, and it is tough and has been for over 6 months now. But great compilation of pictures, that trooper is very lucky to be alive. And I do whole heartedly agree, Slow down and Move the hell over for any emergancy vehicle.

  • holy shit man hwo he live thorght that

  • i saw pictures of thia in a scale house in indiana

  • God lucky Im glad the cop survive

  • Im a trucker myself and its just a very smart thing to do is to move over or if u cant to ride the left white line in your lane so u knoe for a fact ur not gonna hit anyone

  • i could fix that with some ducktape

  • i hope he was in the car... it doesn't say

  • Yup, he was inside, kicked what was left of the door open and called in for assistance.

  • It the bear thing is a trucker term bleachaddict. Rent smokey and the bandit from netflix and you'll understand

  • LEO isn't there to protect "us", it is there to enforce the law, and usually after the law in question has been committed...so, again, no protection. Protection is serving in the military, like I did (two branches). Anyway, enough of my ranting. It's nice to see that the Protector was okay.

  • holy shit

  • That damage could be buffed out

  • "its still go, its still good"- homer simpson

  • My old man repairs TVs ... he has this ultimate set of tools ... he can fix this."

Jeff Spiccoli, in Fast Times at Ridgemont High

  • yeah... i mean... its just a few scratches...

  • only if you use the correct buffing compound!!

    This is a lucky bloke

  • Hes IRON MAN:))
