It never seems to fail that the audio guys are trying to ring out their rig at the same time I'm trying to focus. I don't really blame them though. We're both trying to get a lot of work done in a very short amount of time. Both positions are equally important. People come to a show for the entire experience. You may not go home humming lights but you sure as heck don't pay $60 plus to sit in the dark either.
steelfloor8- I LOVE IT!!! It was just a "satire" play on the ole scenerio...we were just having fun, but thought your comment was brilliant...Well said!
Speaking as someone who has played for both teams,(lighting and sound, that is.) I would say that either one of you guys can totally wreck the show....And, either one of you guys can make the show spectacular. Both jobs take considerable skill, so, instead of whining about each other, maybe you should just be thankful that you are not working construction or some stupid shit job... Just a thought.
Why do audio guys only say test one two, one two........ because IF they could count to three, they would lift..... and then they would be lighting guys.
@cjmitz I have NEVER met a light guy who knew anything about a sound board. If nothing else, I wouldn't want to run lights anyway, I don't want to have to tell my parents I'm gay.
@6Nicad6emus6 with the new (ok not so new) generation of lighting boards (MA, hogs, chamsys) there are dozens of ways to organise your show depending of how u want to work it; sound boards didnt change much in terms of concept; that's why all the light guys I know know how to handle basic operations on sound boards while sound guys don't have a clue on light boards (except when it's fully programmed, they can push buttons and go 'yay, lighting is sooo easy').
lighting ftw

Well then you havnt met me then. I run lighting and sound for multiple events and my parents to tell me I'm gay because I'm not.

-Sound guy giving you trouble?? Tell him to set up in the dark..
-People buy "audio" CDs from the show, not lighting videos.
-God said "Let there be light" first..Not sound.
-People don't go home humming "yellow and green"
-Speed of Light vs. Speed of Sound.
-Which would anyone do? Listen to their stereo real loud or watch a music video on mute??..Case Closed
Pyrotechnics guy chimes in "I'm the best..Are you really going to argue with someone who handles explosives?"

What's the difference between a lighting guy and a sound guy? A sound guy could run lights if he had to.
