  • whats the name of the first song??

  • i have a harmonica but i just play random stuff

  • This is great I luv it!!!

  • Well Charlie is almost the cleanest harp player there is. there are others but not many! Certainly the best studio harp player there is cause he always is fresh!!!!

  • whats the name of this song

  • @MrVolks94 first song is "Amazing Grace", christian blockbuster music.

  • @dmarcos1 ohhh!!!!! thanks XD

  • @dmarcos1 and good music it is.

One of the few that I tolerate,

  • Does anyone out there have a copy of Charlie McCoy doing Danny Boy that they could upload? There's not only the best harmonica player ever, but also a beautiful ride on the C6 neck by Curly Chalker. If you've got it I would appreciat it.

    MrBzr

  • este caballero hace lo que quiere con una harmonica simplemente es un fenomeno gracias

  • I love playing harmonica

  • The way I see that Charlie McCoy plays is more down to earth and pure than most of those blues players, and melody should just be good old fashioned melody anyway. The harmonica is a great instrument for this.

  • Excellent rendering

    -Avinesh Singh (India)

  • Amazing grace . They don't make such beautiful music anymore.

  • u are the man charley. digger odell

  • harmonica music alwas make me think of steamtrains somehow, i don't know why :)

  • @WNxRadeon possibly the song, orange blossom special ?

  • @sr71ablackbird no sorry. :P

    but nice song. :D

i think it's because if the movies and stuff :P

  • Charie is the best session player Harmonica Player ever . He never shows off, is humble, never overplays, and always lets the star be the star!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The best studio Harmonica Player of all time. Maybe JohnPopper is faster on the high end but Charlie is cleaner and plays for the song , the singer, and the listener. . How many Harmonica players have had major record deals? Only one I know of Charlie Mcoy!!!!!

  • @Donnieboyh Little Walter, Sony Boy williamson, Howlin Wolf, James Cotton, Paul Butterfield and they could play the hell out of this guy!

  • @TBeanIV

This is an incorrect. Why don't you ask them who the man is;-)

  • @TBeanIV

There's not a harmonica player dead or alive who could touch Charlie McCoy.

  • @4664sharon little walter, sonny boy williamson, paul butterfield, james cotton. all better than charlie mccoy. hes not bad just dosent play the way the guys did.

  • @TBeanIV

Aw c'mon Charley is the best all around harpist. Those others you mention are BLUES players only , and very good, but do you think anyone of them could keep up with Charley playing orange blossom special? I never heard any of those blues players play a sweet melody or a gospel tune like Amazing Grace with pure sweet notes.

  • @skidmore75 I don't think you've listen to enough little walter. not everything he did was blues. check out blue midnight and quarter to twelve.

and the harmonica is a Blues instrument. the blues is where it fits best.

  • @skidmore75 Not to butt in on a 6 month old conversation, but your right and wrong. there's a lot to be said for Mickey Raphael too. the porpose of a harp is to mimic a human voice and it works well in any genre.

  • @MrWaymore13 I have been playing the "harp" for nigh unto 70 years . I started on the diatonic using tongue blocking . I also played a chromatic for a bit too. I like all types of music , classic as well as campfire songs. I mentioned McCoy being the best and fastest country style harpman. Granted ,the black harpist was the one who discovered blues, namely bending and Sonny boy Williamson was a dandy. There are many great bluesmen out there now. I play Amazing Grace in 2nd position well.

  • saving grace nice and he sounds awsome on that harmonica thats y i want to learn just to play awsome melodies like this

  • Charlie is so fast on the Harmonica - he must have had to hold himself back on this - but wonderful anyway - x

  • Wonderful, I love it , Charlie you're the BEST !!!

  • Love this harmonica player! First song was a bit unsettling as it was played at my brother's funeral. Awesome post. Thanks HANKWILLIAMS1924 for sharing. :)

  • Totally AWESOME and always has been one of my favorite instruments when they could play like this wonderful man!! He was one of my Mom's favorites also and this sure makes me think of her from long ago. Lost her in 1986 and still miss her terribly but have so many fantastic memories to remember her by..:):)

Thanks HANKWILLIAMS1924 for sharing this and "harmonica4u" for posting.

Smiles and Hugs from Georgia, Joyce :):)xx

  • 5 star and shared

  • boring watch little walter and learn

  • trop fort ce mec là!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Just a great artist ... go listen to Desolation Row, Bob Dylan, Highway 61 Revisited ... that's Charlie on the guitar ... beautiful ...

  • Woman,Senseous Woman is the name

    of the song!

  • Most of us talk with mere words; Charlie can communicate through that harp! One of the best musicians ever to come out of Nashville...if not the best! Played bass, trumpet & sang, too! Thanks for posting.

  • Great compilation

Anyone knows where can find the first song and her title?

    Thanks

  • it's Amazing Grace, and can be found on Charlie's 1977 album Country Cookin', accoring to his website..

  • I have this album it was his first one. It sure was cool with paper plate red white and blue with hot dog laying in it. I still play it when I can. It came out in 1971.

  • Thank you for posting. I just love that "sensuous woman"track, never heard it on harmonica before. Top class!

  • Thanks for posting one of the most underrated Nashville Sound musicians.

What a talented and versatile guy!

  • Wow really good

  • Bravo charlie et merci pour le bonheur que tu nous donne!

  • great video man,

anyone knows the name of the second song?

    thanks

  • linda musica tocado pelo melhor gaitista

    de todos os tempos parabens

  • Absolument génial.

    It's absolutely so great

  • I had a chance to visit Charlie mcCoy at his home once. I asked if he files his reeds and he said he just plays them right out of the box. go figgure.

  • all i need now is a banjo

  • Wspaniała melodia wpadająca prosto do SERCA. Ggy ją słucham, jestem myślami na Dzikim Zachodzie!!!,,JndianinnnS-ko,,

  • ;) Точно, и я тоже дикий запад вспоминаю!

  • I learned to play Amazing Grace by listening to Charlie McCoy back in the 1970s.... I still have a few of his old LPs

  • I LOVE HARMONICA MUSIC AND CHARLIE McCOY IS THE BEST YET.

  • Hey, can anyone there tell me what tune is that harmonica?

  • There are 13 (one for every note on the music scale) different harmonica's. I have 8 different ones that I play. As a rule, if the band is playing in the key of "G", the harmonica player is playing 4 up on the scale, which would be "C".

  • He's playing a "C" harp in second position which makes the key of the song "G"

  • I had an 8 trac tape machine that plugged into the cigarette lighter on my '64 chevy PU.

I played the hell out of That Charlie McCoy Tape, Rocky Top, Mountain Dew, and so many. it got me to where I finally could play Old Susannah, only took about 3000 miles of driving....He was the greastest since sliced bread,...damn if cain't bend and wiggle them notes, plus make up some ain't never been heard

  • very cool

my tits are SO sore right now!!! :( ao

  • Yea he good

  • such lovely phrasing, pitch exquisite. but i'm really writing to ask if Anybody knows what guitar Charlie played on Dylan's Desolation Row? (so long ago)

  • Great question Dayveaux! as soon as you find out let me know. One of the Best songs in the world in my view, the ending with Dylan's harp solos and the bass and guitars ( I think Bloomfield is on the other)is like hearing a thousand instruments all in sync, it's absolutely beautiful and something I'm still working to perfect myself as I speak..

  • can't figure out who was best Mcoy or McMillan

  • Wonderful! Thanks for this great vid.

  • Nice compilation. I remember having some tapes

of Charlie McCoy when I was a kid and playing

diatonic myself. He does great work with it.

I used to try, but could never really come

close to playing that style or bending notes

properly. So I went to chromatic which was

    more suitable for me.

    Thanks for posting, Dave

  • Fantastic music mastered by real musicans
