ouch the worse thing about this is the fact as soon as u saw the break the momentum of the jaguars player kept going forwad . hope he recovers quickly and dosnt knock his confidence
This sucks. I'm not a Bills fan but heard that he's been playing really well. I wish him the best but after seeing this, I wouldn't be surprised if this injruy stays with him for the rest of his career...
Spun, The NFL leads all pro sports in substance abuse testing. They test and treat players for all o.t.c and illegal steroids and weight loss supplements as well as other banned substances. As far as the med. staff for NFL teams go, they are second to none. Google search Kevin Everett's spinal cord injury. He was another Bills player where the medical staff made split second decisions to use experimental treatments and saved his life. He was walking less than 6mos later, and should never had.
Just wondering what the medical staff do in a case like this. The pour man is in agony so you can't just let the leg swing. You could have cut arteries so assume there are real doctors on the sideline ready to assist as apposed to those trainer types that just put tape on everything. I've never broken anything so don't know does the bone splinter or shear at the break point? It must shear else how could they pin it together and get it to heal.
immediately after he was carted off the field, he was rushed to the nearest hospital for emergency surgery to repair the broken bones, they were clean breaks without splintering
@spunright Just for your education, certified athletic trainers don't "just put tape on everything". They are certified in First Aid, AED, and Blood Bourne Pathogens. They are also trained and tested in splinting, emergency action plans, modalities such as electrical stimulation and ultrasound, rehabilitation, wound care, treatment for shock, heat illness, and so much more. In this situation, the player would not be moved off the field. He would be splinted in the position he is found in...
@spunright ... (so if the broken leg is out to the side that is how they splint it) and taken to the ER for x-rays and surgery if needed. In this case, the athlete probably received plates and a boot to stabilize it. The ATCs involved probably handled the situation well. Athletic trainers must pass a board exam much like the LSAT or MCAT. Do some research! One day when your kid is playing sports you'll be glad to see an ATC on the sideline.
@AeroStonesQueen Athletic trainers are not required to take the Legal entrance exam NOR the Medical School Aptitude Test. Those are for admission to Law School or Medical School. They don't go to Either.
@doctorcane For your information, certified athletic trainers (ATCs) have to take the BOC or Board of Certification exam. You are not allowed to practice athletic training in the United States without this. Also, many states have also put into place a licensure act where you are not allowed to practice in that state without passing the BOC or without a license. You need both. We don't go to Law school or Medical school, BUT most of us go to get masters and doctorates in many other areas.
Maybe not but compared to the players in the 70's these people are monsters. Does the NFL test for enhancing drugs and growth hormones? Maybe they do and they are just products of the growth hormones in our food. I know some people with teenage boys that are huge compared to their parents. BTW the average NFL career lasts 3 yrs and78% retire bankrupt or near bankrupt. This is a sad ending considering all the money and hype surrounding the sport.
Football is fun to watch but it is brutal on the body.
How many players were injured in this one game alone? These people are all on steroids and abnormally large and strong. The Bills former QB, Edwards probably has brain damage for life. This mans career may be over.
cbs is gay for not showing this on live TV. i had to look this up online....wow...........fuck tv. BTW this is fucking awesome and I hope that guy get better soon. How did his leg just like fucking snap??? it almost looks fake.
it prolly wont b career ending cause it was in the middle of his tibia and fibula. So since it is suspected that there is no joint injury there it shouldnt be too bad. just a bad break.
it hurts my leg just looking at it.

I've been told by a dr that as long as the broken bones didn't affect his joints (ankle or knee joints) he should make a full recovery.
