thank you for the very informative video! I just found an excellent condition cz-101 in a music shop today and your review convinced me to buy it. wish me luck!
@benanderson88 Yeah, I got a super mint, I mean, practically brand new looking CZ-1 for a hair over what the CZ-101 goes. The original owner was an older DJ who never used the instrument, and the second owner also hadn't used it. Was I lucky or was I lucky? Anyway, how do you get those RA-something RAM cards for these?
Unfortunately I'm in Brazil, where the shipping service is slow and very expensive. I would have spent around R$100 (US$50) and would have to buy a new stand for the CZ-3000. I have a Korg DS-8, a Korg Poly 800, a Roland D-20 and just wanted a little synth (with such good engine) to put on the top of my organ, using its own legs and top as a stand. That's why I want a CZ-101. Otherwise I would definitely acquire a VZ-1 or CZ-1, which are hands down top synths.
Hey, I'm sure they're far more advanced synths, you're right at this point, but the CZ-101 is not crap, you're taking it too hard. I almost bought a CZ-3000 but the shipping would have cost me an arm and leg, and my rig is already goddamn heavy! So whats the matter of getting one of these babies to sit on flat top of my organ if it has the lovely PD engine? When I have roadies or a mule to carry around a CZ1000, I will, for sure!
these videos are amazing thanks sooo much,is there any chance you could do another cz101 video explaining how to program sounds in detail ????? pleaseeee,
Hey. You could do so much better if you make a research about analog synthesis. With that knowledge you'll be able to understand by yourself not only the CZ programming, but almost any synth (we're not talking about granular or FM synths, which are crazy rocket science) around, since they mostly are analog to analog synths, even being digital. Learn about LFO, Envelopes, Oscillators, Voltage Controlled Filter and its emulations and you'll be soon creating you own patches form scratch, believe me
thanks - you da man- -very helpful

Great tutorial/overview.
I'd like to get one. I presume that they are primarily sought after as they take up less space than the other CZ series?

Best demo vid I've ever seen! Please do more. Maybe an Arp Axxe? I've had one for years and it's a mystery every time I play with it.

look at how this guy is rocking those tiny keys, they're almost impossible to play well and this guy makes it look like nothing

the reason people want cz-101s is because they look so much cooler onstage and there easy to carry around

Huh, let me think
- It's much smaller
- It weights, let's see, 20lbs less
- it can sit well on flat top keyboards (organs and eps)
- It's remarkbly more beautiful, almost toyish.
- It's so cool
