and one more thing....it is the best view to see it from an airplane...you dont have to stretch your neck!!! I know i didnt....seeing it back in 94.....when the shuttle is that high up itis going about 3 thousand miles per hour....those solid rocket boosters and the main engines are giving off some serious thrust.....it is certainly worth the wait to see i hope you all get a chance to witness a launch before they unfortunately discontinue the shuttle flights in 3 years or so.

back in 1994, i saw my first shuttle launch in July....space shuttle columbia. I saw it from an airplane just like you. The pilot said that the shuttle just took off....about 12:15pm and you can see the launch from the right side of the plane....it was amazing. saw the liftoff...and the bright bright orange yellow glow.....and smoke and it was moving fast. It was amazing...something i have never forgotten....
