  • O Filme da minha vida!

  • Think about the song, "fate, up against your will through the thick and thin. You will wait until you give yourself to him." Donnie's fate was sealed and it was against his will, he had no choice. As for the next sentence; Donnie had to wait for Frank's guidance and had to trust him, hence "give yourself to him. The song was perfect for the movie, let alone this scene.

  • I love how the images in the eye are a prediction of what's to come. To me The Director's Cut is the way to go, and The Killing Moon is beyond perfect for this scene. It makes more sense here than the opening. Such a perfect film in every way.

  • I liked the directors cut more then the original because it actually shows what roberta sparrow wrote in her book which is basically the key to understanding the movie.

  • I think this song is just way too perfect in this scene to have been replaced. It just sounds so "twisty" - and excitingly sinister, is it just the marrying of images with the music, cause I swear the original doesn't sound that amazing - and it comes at a moment of highest tension, and then the camera starts twisting too... oh it's just too perfect

  • @RH98 ...You said everything I was thinking

  • The KIlling Moon definitely fit this scene more; it's a somewhat sinister song, and I think 'fate up against your will through the thick and thin' fits Donnie's visions of the time tunnels here perfectly.

  • WHAT A GREAT MOVIE and the 80s/90s thing? yeah dont judge things on the past... it's the same, just your life was different you were younger, probably a teen and didn't have to pay taxes or other real world things, I'm 17 and I can wait forever to be older, the real world sucks

  • Positive energy...lmfao! China will come to collect on their bill soon and we are all fucked.

  • whats the song in this?

  • @tomrush95 the killing moon

  • That bit with the eye is disturbing and brilliant. The computer text scrolling up and down the screen as he looks through the events adds a sense of foreboding.

When I first read about the film, I didn't think that the 'world ending' theme would be about the tangent universe etc but because it was set in 1988, I thought it would be an alternate history "Cold War gone hot" situation, like a Philip K. Dick story or Operation Flashpoint. Nonetheless it was incredible. Very thought-provoking.

  • damn mybezerro, lighten the hell up, get some new clothes, find a frikken hobby for jeebus sakes

  • @zee339 that has nothing to do with what he said and that won't make him/her feel cheered up

  • I wish that had this scene with this song in the original version because it was overall better than the director's cut but i LOVE this song for this scene!! I love Donnie Darko! :)

  • this, and mad world are my favorite songs in the movie. :]

  • ah the 80s, had 2 kids bought 2 houses ,fucked anything that walked and I'm a woman!

thos flick was horse shit...period.Next...I met Echo and the B.J's as we termed them back when you were in diapers....they hated this flick..BUT! they got there royalties...still do...

    Gemma Inc.

  • MY FAVORITE MOVIE.

I love this song too, I heard it on 93.9 the River. :D

  • Most amazing film ever.

  • @adultswim01

Its called Hot tube time machine - check it out

  • I felt like something cool and exciting was going to happen in this clip but it never did.

Never seen the film but classic Bunnymen and 'Out Run' memories - thanks.

  • believe me something pretty cool and exciting happens right after this clip, the next part, imo, ties the whole movie together

  • @Panthera0nca you should see the movie!

  • McCulloch's lyrics cannot be denied - thorn of crowns

  • echo and the bunnymen :)

  • Heh.

All the process of making those preius cars and all their batteries will waste more earth resorce and make more pollusion than that car could ever save.

  • You know,

There's a lot messed up with this world,

    people blinded by greed,

but you know...we can't do anything by ourselves. The best we can do is unfold our story, and decide what we'll do. One person at a time. Chain's work.

Positive energy will always run over the negative.

    To each his own.

I live my life to the fullest and embrace what i can do, cause that's all i can do. We all play a part, the world's a stage,

    we can decide it's ending.

  • mp3 link?

  • when all we need is energy of the sun the wind and the water, we have the tech for all three which we use in some parts of the world succesfully. The list can go on and on so you need to realise that there is a differentce between having a positive look on life and looking at the world you live in. I try to live life to the fullest but i'm not going to kid myself. i intend to do something about it and i dont mean driving a prius and recycling., you should too and so should everything else.

  • instant jizz in pants when i hear this song i love it!!!!! haha

  • i wish i could travel in time to 80's again, the world today is so without hope and mistery, i just feel like i dont fit it anymore.... its all about violence and greed everywhere, it made me sick... i was so happy at 80's... good good times that never come back...

  • im not from the 80s but i know how u feel

  • dude, greed and violence were rife in the 80's and have been throughout human existence. the 80's were definitely not good times for the human race, maybe for you personally, for me too, but i agree the world is only getting worse. I am starting to understand that for the world to ever improve people must unite and organize and fight against these corporations who control the lively hood of the masses. fuck the 80's, fuck now, try and improve the future

  • you're right, i know, maybe the older you get and more shit you see, the worse world becomes to you.

  • max, forgot it, i agree 100% with you about those evil corporations controlling the global economy and our lifes today, there's a fantastic documentary in this theme named The Corporation (2003), i highly recommend it if you didn't watched it yet.

sorry about my english, i can read pretty well but nothing the same writting.. :P

  • YEAH! Down with the corporates

    !

  • i wish I could say that I disagreed.

  • holy shit, that was beautiful!, i know what you mean

  • maxmontreality is right things werent so great in the 80s but they also arent so bad now life goes on stop living in the past start looking at yourself now and have more good times now and tomorrow and for the rest of your life. dont be that guy who talks about how crappy the world is today

  • brangster do you really think the world is any better now than it was in the 80's, besides ipods and macbook pros. I always try to enjoy life everyday but odsnt mean im blind to structure. If you think life is good now tell that to the rest of the world without food or water or a corrupt government that keeps those necessities from them. or think of the oerpoppulated world you live where there isnt even enough food for the world and yet we keep breeding and breeding.

  • dude no offense but the 80's is where it all started. politicians realizing the money and oil in Saudi countrys etc...

  • to even create half the food we need we need to we have to inject are cattle destroying there genetic codes and health for more dirty milk or meat, we use radioactive chemicals on our crops and pretend that organically grown crops is a treat, the creme de la creme when they should merely be the standard model. the millions of homeless and unemployed in every country including the millions in the us, the uk and western europe. the privitasation of water, the use of oil

  • Yeh the cold war. the Iran-Iraq war. what a way to contradict yourself.

  • @mybezerro i'm sorry to say, but every decade has been like that, every decade from the 50's to now has had harsh violence and anger, we just remember the cool parts..like music.

  • @mybezerro that would create a paradox D:<

  • @mybezerro

Uh, the 80s are renowned as being a decade of indulgence, greed and yes, violence. It was just your self awareness that changed. You were young and innocent, seemingly than, now your just grown up and know what the world is really about.

  • @loggerbomb We think that world is as the mass medias tells us, full of greed and violence.Thats part of the true, But nothing compared with the love and compassion that make the world move everyday. The thing is that love doesnt sell newspapers and doesnt attract the audience in tv shows.

  • @everphx that's all warm fuzzy bullshit talk

  • @loggerbomb owned lol

  • @mybezerro All the animals came out at night now - whores, skunk pussies, buggers, queens, fairies, dopers, junkies, sick, venal. Someday a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets. Everywhere, In bars, in cars, sidewalks, stores, everywhere. There's no escape. I'm God's lonely man My life has taken another turn again. The days can go on with regularity over and over, one day indistinguishable from the next. Then suddenly, there is a change.

  • @mybezerro the 80's were all about greed and drugs, yuppies, Iran-Contra and Reagonomics for the U.S. ....I'm not sure where you grew up...

  • @TheHSFT I dont know where "mybezzerro" grew up but I grew up in the uk. For us the 80's were all about copying America.

  • @mybezerro you were just younger you fool, you've become cynicle. For the record the 90's were better.

  • @rokridge dude, both where amazing ages, and to be clear the 90's where actually better than the 80's in a certain way, as well as the 80's were better than the 90's in another way, just imagine if they could collide. anyways, you dont have to be calling other people a fool just because they said something they thought, to be honest, i feel the same way he does, and i'd say that it is just about opinion, but i would be lying. THIS TIMES REALLY SUCK.

  • @mybezerro Are you fucking retarded? Talk about far away hills being greener, you only think the 80's was a better time because you remember the good part, there was still greed and violence, just because you filtered it out doesn't mean it wasnt there you maggot. This linked movie was released in 1987, the 80's was the decade where greed became fashionable and turned into something to be proud of.

  • @jamiswallis in 80-90 at least we have better music

  • @mybezerro

So... the Cold War, the Challenger disaster; Iraq-Iran War, and other conflicts in the 80's meant nothing to you, while the ones in this decade just HAVE to be a big deal?

You and the 30+ who upvoted your comment are morons.

  • @mybezerro well, if you keep an attitude like that, life will never get better. haven't you seen the amazing new developements in our lives. for god's sakes, we have advances in the field of medicine that have saved millions of lives, technology that you could only see in a sci-fi flick 30 years ago, and black man as president. in 20 years, we will all wish for this to come back, so enjoy the little life we all have while you still have some.

good times aren't comin' back cus' you wont let em'

  • @mybezerro The 80s weren't perfect. There is this weird hate thing that is spreading like a virus all over youtube. Everyone is getting depressed because it's not the 80s and 90s, anymore, and that everything now is automatically bad. TheFreakAndSam said it...you'll be depressed forever if you judge everything by the past, or by the highest rated comments on Youtube. All the people who follow this are deeply depressed for no reason.

  • @mybezerro That's because you were younger in the 80's. There was as much greed and violence then as there has ever been.

  • @mybezerro ... Negativity like that will caus you to kill yourself or kill somone else. I haven't seen the film, but I can tell the director is saying, "Don't be like Donnie Darko." I use to be sad; then I learned to calm myself, look at the brighter side, and greed and misery has always been here throughout the ages.

  • @Agomongo1235 uhhh.. ya.. you should actually go watch the movie because that wasn't the message at all. In the film, the reason he killed himself was actually to save a paradox from happening and destroying the universe. In order to do that, he had to put the ignorance of society and culture behind him for the greater good of the universe.

  • this scene was better with under the milky way

  • me mola

  • achei que essa fosse a parte inicial. quando ele tá andando de bicicleta.

    abraços

  • versão do diretor.... esquece!

    hehe

  • dude there should be no fucking question in your mind whether or not to get Donnie Darko, it's one of my favorite movies of all times, it's a master piece... No fucking doubt.. It's one fucking amazing movie man...!!!!

    GET IT!!!!

  • it is the best movie ever made!!!!

  • i never noticed the clock. thanks. the small things to find out.

  • I really love this song and Donnie Darko is a great film, also i have never seen such a sad faced clock as the one in this vid :-)

  • RIP Pete de Freitas - the percussion here.

  • I prefer the Director's Cut of this film to the original. It tied up loose ends for me and had some really great additions.

  • I'm really thinking about buying it but I'm also really skeptical. Does it make more sense out of the story, what with the tangent universe's, living receivers, manipulated dead, and all that time travel hokey?

  • the directors cut actually gives u chapters in the time travel book written by r. sparrow. it explains everything in definitions up on the screen in between scenes, plus just some extra parts that tie it together, truly one of the best movies ive ever seen

  • I really do think Richard Kelly nailed it on the first try. I saw his other film and didn't get it. the directing look of the film and actors were great but the story was just boring

  • I love the remix they used. The high hat is amplified and all that dreamy echo and shit. Brillant! can I get an mp3 of this version

  • It's called the "All Night Version" and was on the Crystal Days boxed set.

  • ahh thanks for posting! you the man!

  • THE BEST SCENE FUCKINg ever!!!!

  • you goddam right

  • One of my favorite movie...

  • this is my favirote fucking scene!!

  • Was That Outrun For The Megadrive?

    (At Point 1 :40)

  • it is the Outrun game. But it wont be Megadrive as it was not invented in 1988 when the movie is set. It is more than likely on the Attari console.

  • Good point, Ha Ha,

But it still looks pretty good, Man what happened to "SEGA" anyway?

  • Outrun was released in 1986 in the Arcade's(the things we had before hole consoles.)The movie is set in 1988.

  • I know now XD

  • I'm delighted for you =D

  • probably my fave scene of directors cut.

  • This is one of my fave scenes of the DC! Im glad they put this version in instead of under the milky way. But I like both songs.

  • Its better this way round, classic.

  • Although so many people say they prefer the theatrical cut of Darko better because of the music (such as the replacement of the Killing Moon in the beginning) I think the song fits way better in this scene. It makes the scene so much better.

  • awesome!! I <3 Donnie and jake is the best
