  • Proprietary mustard and tinned grated Parmesan?

  • Mmmmm. I want to try one like that. I guess it's time to plan a trip to the Hotel Caesar.

  • Wow, I had no idea all that stuff was in Caesar salad. I just use the kits from the grocery store, and the dressing in them is just some creamy ranch-looking stuff. I guess the real thing must taste a lot different.

  • Quality comments as always.

You YouTards are a sad lot.

  • @gardenvariety

in Mexico you use whatever is available. Consider yourself DAMN LUCKY to get Parmesan in a container. They don't like it either. And DIJON mustard?

    Keep on dreaming.

Never the less, this still is THE one and only Caesars salad. It seems you people just like to bitch.

By the way. Caesars salad was invented in TIJUANA, by Caesar Cardini's chef Santini, when, like most of the time in Mex. they had not much available, and used whatever ingredients they could find to make a salad.

  • high acidity should kill most bacteria leftover in the wooden boil. why the hell didn't they use parmeggiano reggiano or a good dijon?

  • Nice salad -that takes some skill to put together. Kinda sad that he used canned cheese. :(

  • its funny how u can get hate messages even for simple vids like salad LOL

  • sorry my english... they don tell wat is on the roun plait,, garlic and olive oil,, is and ingredien ,, my father invented in the 60s,, i cand send you,,, isn not the anchovies,, you can make whet out the anchovies and the teist is uonderful,,,

  • hahahaha missing ingredient?....garlic and olive oil and?........

  • @fcocardmart he adds the garlic (mixed in olive oil) at the beginning, around 1:24, and adds more olive oil around 2:50. and...?

  • like the song at the begining :P

  • Thanks for posting this video. I am just trying to learn about food. I never realized I enjoy cooking. Nice to see authentic recipes and where they came from.

  • so would cesar salad be consider mexican food since it was invented there

  • good question. caesar cardini was italian, but opened restaurants in tijuana and mexico city. this salad was invented for celebrity guests when food ran out in 1924. i guess it should be considered indigenous to tijuana.

  • It's Italian American.

  • no it's more like italian mexican how can it be american when it was invented in TJ mexico

  • @jiminirvana What continent is Mexico on? North America. Who were the primary patrons of Caesar's restaurant? Americans. So....who was the salad made for? Picky Americans.

  • @cowboystitching Also I would like to add, that Tijuana is a border city with the United States (the actual name of this country, look it up), so it's definitely going to be seeing a high amount of American traveller traffic. There is NOTHING Mexican about this salad.

  • Kick it up a bit with real parmigiana reggiano cheese and Dijon mustard. This is a classic American recipe with definitely Italian flavors.

  • @joannjagroop it's a classic tijuana recipe, with americans nearby, invented by an italian restaurant owner. it's a mongrel dog.

  • @cowboystitching nobody ever said it was mexican.

  • @xlntpix the other guy did.

  • @cowboystitching california used to be mexico, look it up. caesar cardini moved to mexico city after tijuana and opened a bigger restaurant. he was italian. he didn't cater to just picky americans.

  • @xlntpix Yes, I'm aware of our prior geography.

  • @cowboystitching caesar cadini and his chef, santini, were italian. cardini lived in san diego AND tijuana, then mexico city. he never claimed to be italian american, just italian.

  • @xlntpix Well, there's no such thing as an "American", anybody who moves here is automatically American once they become a citizen, the same as there is no "American" cuisine due to the fact we're all a big melding pot of other cultures. I still consider the caesar salad quintessentially American due to the story of it's creation and who it was created for.

Regardless I'm just happy it was invented.

  • @cowboystitching Yeah, Caesar Cardini was a Mexican Italian. He spent most of his life in Mexico and was a citizen too. But he was born in Italy. The Caesar Salad was invented in Tijuana Mexico but I wouldn't care if it came from the depths of hell. But the most authentically made ones are in Baja California, especially in Hotel Caesar, Tijuana. Love the restraunt their

  • I love it! Tasty!

  • dam i love this shit

  • I find that lemmon on the salad makes a big difference. It's hard to find a *Good* Caesar salad. I went to a restaurant and asked for a Caesar salad and they asked me "What kind of dressing would you like?" ok.... Great video!

  • @cillafontana,

    don't find the cigarette revolting - its a different country - you aren't smelling it, and the tourists are way more tolerant;

and therefore get to enjoy the one and only correct caesars salad, invented by Caesar Cardini just like xlntpix says.

I'm sure santini mixed the ingr. 4 the dressing 4 if one runs out of ingredients ANYTIME Mexico....

If fresh parmesan cheese were available they would use it, it's not so they use "Kraft" or whatever else is avalable.

    Thanx

  • I LOVE this place!! They make GREAT salad!!! mmuuua xx!!!

  • Artificial parmesan in a tube? Cigarette in hand? Revolting

  • But true...

  • this is authentic, thank you

  • and a 555 cigerette...lol

  • its really good

  • hey! this video is amazing but pleeeaase i want to kno the real history of it

    who invented it?

  • legend is caesar cardini, owner of the caesar's cafe in 1924, but others say it was his head chef, santini who did the actual mixing on a busy july 4 weekend when they ran out of food. we are going to post a video soon with 2 versions: "antigua" y "nuevo" (popular since the 1990s)

  • some say it was hollywood actors at the weekend they made the sauce

  • My favorite salad ... But, please! Parmesan out of a can?! Perish the thought! Get some decent parmesan reggiano. Sheesh.

  • oh brother...puh-leeze.

  • ok ok soo im a salad freak what else is new?

  • looks shise

  • actually, the TRUE recipe has NO mustard (original salad created by Caesar Cardini's chef, Santini in 1924).

  • Thanks for the video!

About worcestershire sauce, it is pronounced woostersheer. dont argue with me i am amazing at languages.

  • to each their own. in some parts they still say "warsh" your hands...

  • If you ask people at worcestershire, they WILL tell you how to pronounce the name of THEIR county.

  • Made in Tijuana. Ave. Revolucion

  • wat a wierdo

  • You know this video is on Wikipedia, right? XD

  • then you're a fag.

  • it's pronounced "woos-ter" sauce not "worse-ter-shire". ignorant american tard.

  • actually, either was is correct :S

also, being ignorant of an alternative way of saying a word, doesn't make someone retarded, as far as i know.

  • it isn't an "alternative" way. a word is pronounced how it is, end of. (or "period" as you guys like to say.)

It's pronounced Wooster not worseter because that's the name of the place it comes from. It's like you couldn't say "lows angeeeeelars" because that's not what it's called.

  • do you say potato, or pot-ah-to? i'd say the ignorant tard is you, pal.

  • that's completely different because it's not a proper noun.

  • actually, mr. smarty pants, go to any dictionary (online or otherwise) and look up the pronunciation of "worcestershire" sauce and the phonetics will show "wuster-shur" or "wuster-sheer" sauce, not "wooster" :o

  • exactly, so it isn't "worse-ter" it's "wooster". what the hell are you talking about, you just proved me right :S

im english ffs so i know how it's pronounced because the sauce is from england.

  • so then you must know how to pronounce "wanker" :(

  • Hotel Caesar in Tijuana makes this salad with chicken. I was there 5 days ago and watched them make it.

  • way better than all those gay postings in kitchens with rock 'n roll, chicken and stuff...

  • anybody that makes this salad with chicken is a fag.

  • que sabor

  • Can't understand a word the chef is saying, and missed half what the gay guys are saying. Why not print a list of the ingredients??

  • go to wikipedia and type in "caesar salad" for your list of ingredients.

  • i made one today

  • raw egg? eww

  • Finally:something good to read, not just the bad things about our Tijuana, many good one's this:Cesar Salad, since a child, I love it and we knew it was invented here, same with; Margaritas, Roman Salad from Victor's, Clamato and Fish Tacos from Ensenada, the world famous NewPort Beach LOBSTER, just to mention some, and some other not just food,I will show as an advertising Photographer soon;
