  • Dumbbells don't seem the ideal tool for this movement, better to have a longer stick and you can load it with lighter weights to boot.

  • @alteredoptions No, the physio ball is used to make sure your body is straight because you have to balance yourself. It's useful though, if you not using proper posture when working out.

  • @alteredoptions For this exercise, yeah, I think the physio ball was just whatever was closest to him. Oftentimes the instability of the ball makes your body work harder to maintain control, but I can't see how it applies to forearms here at all.

  • @alteredoptions No need for physio ball! I focus a lot of my attention to my forearm. Dumbbell is not the best tool for forearm. Rubber Bands or cables are better . It can hits muscle that you can't touch by weight alone

  • That is not a hammer curl. Don't forget to turn your palms so they face up, and then do the same thing. This will help you to look like Popeye.

  • This guy is a joke. First of all, that exercise is not a "curl". It is called "wrist abduction". Secondly, it won't improve your grip, as he claims, since the extensor muscles of the forearm are being worked. They have nothing to do with finger flexion, which would be the focus if increasing grip strength was the goal. The FLEXORS are involved in gripping (and, of course, wrist flexion). This guy proves, once again, that a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing.

  • @GMCPLDarkBlade I tried to "enlighten all those ignorant" (quoting your poor excuse for English) by stating that the guy in the video is incorrect. I then explained exactly WHY he was incorrect. I continued by explaining what muscles should be exercised, in order to increase grip strength (the FLEXORS). I am attempting to prevent people from wasting their time by listening to "experts" who, in fact, are anything but. People with a modicum of reading comprehension can see that. Why can't you?

  • @GMCPLDarkBlade I'm not an expert on everything, but I AM an expert on the subject of exercise kinesiology. That is what I've done for a living for 20 years. If I see a video of an exercise demonstration or instruction that looks correct, then I move on. It's only when I see erroneous information being presented as fact, that I speak out. I don't want to see people waste their time listening to someone who presents themselves as an expert, when in fact, they are clearly (to me) NOT.

  • @chatanwarrior There is no exercise you should be doing five days a week. Do you're compound exercises & your forearms will look after themselves. You'll never see a guy with good biceps, triceps, shoulders & lats who has small forearms. One of the biggest challenges of body building that nobody talks about it patience.

  • @socksket also try to grip plates while walking, also doing Finger pushups will help your grip tremendousily

    I would try to lower the fat to 20% or less and try more protein.

    -if you are trying to increase your weight in the process I would drop down to 1 day of light CV

    -if your goal is to lose weight in the process I would stick with the 2 - 3 days of CV (but, if you are really working hard on your interval training days you can cut out the jogging and rest the extra day)

    - make sure you workhard and rest so your body can make progress

  • @Mrposton101 not that im qualified, but i wud doubt it.... carpel tunnel is caused by very very high repitions of wrist movement, not heavy wieght.. so unless you sitting around doing this for several hours a day, i doubt it wud cause a problem if anything it wud strengthen the wrist... I dont have a source so im not completely sure... just using reason

  • @Mrposton101 I don't believe you would get carpel tunnel from this because your wrist isn't bent downward for long periods of time. So the exercise wont restrict blood flow

  • @kotopoulo0 Your wrist is made up of many bones called the carpals. Carpal tunnel is caused when your fingers move so much from things like video games, typing, etc; that your carpals get spaces in between them and can impede movement of your wrist and fingers all together.

  • @kotopoulo0 the cartilage is yur wrists starts to break up, and cause a burning crackling feeling, causing pain. typing, working on car, and working out have fucked my wrists alot. i have carpal tunnel in my right wrist.

  • @Mrposton101 I have done this every now and then in the gym. I am not a doctor so what I'm about to say is just a guess lol.

    I figure, you only do this exercise, one or two times a week, for a short time, with weight. If you aren't predisposed to CPS then it shouldn't suddenly happen from exercising your forearm in this way.

  • @lupeakapepe If you curl 25 lbs, then you need to go into something like Accounting or basket weaving, my God, I'm an old man and I use 35lb for what he is doing, 8 times! Crap!

  • @lupeakapepe Yes, if you're new to weightlifting, take a dumbell that you can barely do 10 reps with, do 4-6 fast reps but correctly, then do the last ones slow enough where you can just barely get them up each time, then on the very last 2 reps, do them as slow as you can through the whole movement so that it hurts real bad. If you don't totally exhaust the muscles, you won't get much results. Do about 3 sets if you're just starting,every other day then after 3 months start doing about 5 sets.

  • When you do slow,high tension movements, it makes the veins start standing out, of course if you're just starting, it's going to take a few months for you to really notice something, just remember that unless you do the exercise in such a way (slow and high tension) that it really burns bad on the last few reps, you won't get much results. It isn't necessary to take any special dietary supplements, eat a lot of chicken,fish, lean beef, and fruits, just take a look at a 600lb veggie gorilla.
