@RTO41 no problem i would just as happily talk to you in spanish as my dad taught me it being a native after all and thanks for the info gracias mi amigo
spain was an incredibly powerful country but in this time the empire had slipped into decline and its navy was the most powerful in the world but it was badly overstreched having with to deal with britains and hollands as well as frances considerable navies
The XVIII century was not the end of the spanish empire.During XVIII century spain won some important wars, like ''jenkin´s ear war) spain vs england (with spanish victory) and also won important battles, like the one of cartagena de indias (with the famous commander Blas de Lezo). The end of the empire was in the XIX century, when Napoleon invade spain and expelled the king.In times of war against france, lots of colonies in america get independent.
@WhiskerScot569 Later the people of spain(not soldiers, citizens and villagers) expelled the french army and Napoleon (first nation in defeat Napoleon). Finally,in 1898,the USA sank themselves a military boat and put the blame on spain. That year, was the end of one of the most important empires of all history. Spanish Empire 1492-1898
Greetings from this shattered empire. (excuse my english)
To prevent arguing, this is how the history goes. The US during that time period, had very little money due to the revoltuion and the failed articles of confederation. So, what the US did was built smaller, faster, ships that did what they needed them to do. ( Hunt down piracy ) however; later ( late 1800's ) the US made a large, expensive fleet that helped build up Imperalistic United States. Ironically, these same iron clads made their debut against the Spanish during the Spanish-American War.
@TheRomanBond007 The game would be limited if you could fight battles that happened only. I doubt they take the time to tell you the real history in this game, but it's still fun to get an idea of the strictly combat related of it. I would really like to see a game fully dedicated to naval battles from the end of the XV century to the begining of the XIX, with all the details from the choice of woods to the throwing of sand in the floor so that the men would not slip steping on blood.
My Spanish is not so good, but I get the general idea of what some people are trying to say. This video is just a theoretical demo, so I find it comical how some folks feel the need to thump their chest about their country; especially when actual historical events indicate how the Spanish Navy didn't fare so well against other countries. Just my two centavos. :)
That Spanish Navy kick british Navy asses a load of battles, even later its old splendor (at the end of the 18th century) . In fact British Empire never was able to win any colonial territory to Spain by war. We can remember one of the most humiliating british naval defeat when they tried to conquer the city of Cartagena de Indias (Colombia 1747) with a total superiority in the amount of militar resources, but a worse strategical plan than spaniards. They had to eat their conmemorative coins.
@eleutealado all i need to say it seven years war and trafalgar which cuts ur bullshit apart. (spain lost manila, gibraltar, florida and habana to the british)
My english is not so good too, but well; you maybe know how are we, the spanish (or spaniards?) If we see one video that speaks well of we (or our?) then begins the typical; ¡Viva nosotros! (Uhms... god saves us?) etc. If you read something about spanish gold century, and about spanish armada, (all, not only the "Invincible") you will know that we and the ... er... the people of Portugal was the best sailors. With the time the british makes best ships etc.
@tables92 that is a FACT, the top best navies in the world at the time where the three greatest empires during that era, except the spanish where always one step ahead of the two others, France and great Britain, the french colonized luisiana and the mid-west area, GB could not compete agianst both superpowers in a massive land battle and saccrifice their posistions in canada so they quit the revolutionary war, merely to go back to war with republican france
@Caithness90 back then though, now the best navies are the US, UK and i think china, the US has the most destroyers and prooved to be the best in world war 2, china has instituded a large naval force in case if they declare war on tiawan and to protect trade routes from modern day pirates and the UK has been one of the top ever since

Historically incorrect. Spain allied with the US back in 1779. Which I don't have to tell you what's wrong with the entire video.
